well with enough perks the workbench is faster so i figure we all got used to that nice crafting speed boost

Yup. Also, if I'm not mistaking, wasn't crafting in the workbench more efficient as far as materials used vs crafting in inventory?

Maybe that was never a thing, obviously isn't now if it ever was.

For example a spike trap costs 20 wood to craft in inventory. Wasn't it/shouldn't it be cheaper if you craft in the workbench instead?

Hope this makes sense.

Good to know. I guess I've always just crafted them in the workbench.

Hell I didn't even realize you can assemble the bike in inventory, just need the workbench to craft the handle bars & chassis.

I think this is why I just did everything in the workbench, assuming that was the only way to do it.

Only Bike part that you can make in inventory is the wheels as the handle bars, frame, and putting it all together needs the workbench.

Edit - Which unless you find a Workbench or Recipe makes building a Bike mostly pointless. Since by the time you perk Advanced Engineering high enough to make a Workbench your already high enough to make a Minibike.

@madmole  I must say, to whoever sneakily put in the "drop all" button in the backpack whenever we open a storage : THANK YOU.

Even if it's a placeholder and we don't have the keybinding nor the "same type dropping" yet, it saves a metrical ton of time for anyone anytime with just one click.

It does have drop same type...... that and drop all. All it is missing is the ability to lock slots to not drop. You know, the ability the vanilla code had while it was commented out and that actually makes the feature complete.

Yeah, now that you mention it that would also be convenient. It also seems to have drop same type after looking at the options more closely.

After playing with the 2 additonal toolbelt slots for a while I can say with confidence that was definitely the best usability improvement I ever witnessed in this game.

While questing I now don't need to swap out tools constantly.

And in building you always need a lot of buildings materials ready for access, it seems to me that inventory access is halfed with this.

Agreed. Thank you Tim the tool man!!

In the upcoming updates they are talking about having bandit NPC's
In your opening story letter from the Duke and the following quest from the Trader, it hints at adding you to their clan.
What if you could join the bandits as a clan instead, and one of their quests to prove your worth is to raid a POI in the nud with just a bone shiv. They wanna make sure you know how to handle yourself and survive before they let you into their posse. The possibilities are endless, just gotta think outside the box ;)

I don't think we'd ever end up joining a bandit clan. I honestly hope not and I can't even imagine how that'd fit into existing mechanics. But in the end, the final point is the right one. Yeah, I don't think traders are going to give you a quest to go through a POI with nothing but a shiv, but traders aren't the only ones in the wasteland and there are definitely some eccentric folks there. There's room for some more challenging/varying quests. Just gotta think outside of the box of 'Quests come from traders'.

The end plan of the game is to have 2 factions that you can join that are at war with each other. The first is the White River Trading Company which all the current traders are part of and will act as the good guys for the most part. Now the second is the Duke's Gang/Bandits who are the main power that controls the region and are the bad guys.

The basic plot is that you owe the Duke a massive amount of dukes that you lost in his casino and got dumped in the middle of no where to either die or earn your way to repaying him. However the White River Trading co. finds you and offers you the chance to join them and fight back against the Duke. Alternatively you can choose to turn them down and side with the Duke to try an earn your keep and repay your debt. Either way you will be at war with one of the factions which will be trying to kill you with raiders.

1. You're right, it's not offensive.

2. Yea so because other games do it even worse makes this good? Is that really how low our standards are? Show me where a real boob jiggles excessively like this and even the shirt jiggles along with it. It's stupid looking and overdone to appeal to immature teenage boys....

I'm waiting for them to add jiggles to trader Jen.  I think she should jump up and down for joy every time we walk in there to shop?

Hmm, too bad. I just want to be a Terminator-esque action hero that just goes around and murders everything. 😛

Have you submitted a bug report?

While it DID happen to me a few times, I need more testing to make a reliable report. The issue can range from drivers to Gpu to steam itself, and me making a report that gets rejected as "could not repro" would be a waste of time for everyone.

I'd rather comment it here for devs to take a quick look in case it is something trivial to fix or an acknowledged engine-related problem.

I've reported this bug myself with repro steps, hell, I think I've figured out what's causing it.  It's been hanging around for a few years now.

Dig a trench or hole wherever, the bigger the better.  Travel to the other side of the map without teleporting and then all of the way back again.  Quite often when you get back to your hole you'll see the low detail terrain mesh just below the level of the detailed terrain.

<Guess>  It seems some of the distant terrain meshes aren't properly processed when the world origin is moved.  </Guess>

The bug in question is regarding the distant POI mesh that appears when the user is a certain distance away.  The problem is that for some folks, the mesh doesn't go away when they get near the POI.

If you have a consistent repro of this please head over to the bug forums and submit a report of it so it can get handled properly.  Thanks.

That's not how this works, though. If the issue could be from a wide range of factors, as you say, then a dev is not going to waste their time tracking it down. As faatal said, he has not seen a ticket with repro steps and therefore has not looked at it. I can almost guarantee he won't until he receives a ticket. They have a testing team for a reason - to validate bugs and pass along repro steps to the devs so they can fix.

So no offence but what you'd rather do is a waste of everyone's time.

So in other words you're wasting development time. Unless you can find a way to reliably replicate the issue and then report it to the bug forums professionally, then either keep at it or deal with it until it's fixed, and if it isn't, then so be it.

Have you also considered that this just might be a you problem? Perhaps your computer is having issues, or you didn't restart your world when one of the latest patches released.

Disclaimer: There's a difference between a possible oversight and a bug; this is obviously the latter.

That's kind of the point. She's not suppose to look like a stripper anymore. She's suppose to look like a hooker, call girl, clubber, shank at the bar, etc, so she fits into more locations than the boobie trap.

yeah, cuz zombies outfits must match their surround...

I started back in Alpha-19 stable after taking a long break.

My first day

I spawned in the Pine forest in front of a trailer. I was checking out a car there and  got attacked by a dog. Dern thing hit and I could not get out of the looting thing. I ended up punching it to death. I took laceration, fatigue, lost half my health and got infected. All in the first five minutes. lol

I never even heard of fatigue in the game. I did my start up quest and searched around. The trailer was  gold mine. Almost worth the trouble for all the loot I found.

I did notice that there seems to be a problem looting plants as the game seems to think that I am trying to dig. I never had that problem before, well not this much anyway.

I found the trader, did some deals and searched around the map. Went in an expanding circle from my staring point which I used as a drop off point.

I found the burnt forest and chased a rabbit in the waist land.

Doing pretty well against the vultures that attacked me due to my low heath. I found a sowing kit and treated my laceration.

I found out that my avatar is so fat that she got stuck in a hole in the wall that you could ride a bike though. lol No but really, the hole was at a downward angle so I got stuck there.

Headed back, dropped off my loot and sold some of it. I avoided some POI's as they seemed to dangerous in my condition. But did find a camp in the pine forest that was used to crow corn. I looted it and found some honey. It was in a Shamway's food box.  I found a bit earlier but not enough. Now I had enough to treat my infection. Yay!

It was getting dark so I got some water from a nearby river to boil and settled in for the night.

Not bad for my first day. :)
