Can you or someone elaborate on what a "Random Event Manager" is and/or example of how that works? :confused2:

The game will randomly put something along your projected path so you come upon an encounter of some kind. It is being used currently for the Twitch integration where viewers can spawn things in and create nasty/funny/beneficial events for the streamer who is playing. The idea is that a computer controlled manager can trigger similar events (probably not the funny silly kinds they do on Twitch) for the player to encounter.

Possible Examples:

You are biking along the road and come upon several bandits fighting with a horde of zombies. You can watch, join in to help/hinder the bandits....whatever

You go to grab the supply drop and the event manager could choose to either place bandits that arrived there just before you did, or bandits that arrive at the same time as you or bandits that arrive shortly after you do.

You arrive at your quest location to find it surrounded by a herd of zombies that must be cleared out before you can begin the quest.

You are in the middle of your quest and a band of bandits arrive to do the quest as well....

Wandering hordes somewhat fit this feature but they are on more of a timer and this would be randomly spawned and with a greater variety of scenarios if they are able to fully develop it as they were originally hoping. The good thing is that it will help the world feel fuller and more populated with zombies (and eventually roving bands of bandits) without actually having to increase the general population. They are simply random focused events that spawn nearby where you are likely to encounter them.

Well only raft sound impossible but rest of this sounds logical

That is funny because of all of them the raft is the only one that is already finished and just waiting for other things to be completed,,,lol

About examples : this sounds like DL1 or DL2 events - random bandits, crate on road or more powerfull zombie. Well i hope number of bandits will be low because after DL2 i hate humans like wolfgirl XD Damn bandits are so annoing in DL2 . DL1  is much much much better about that- main enemies are zombies and humans are just "variety"

Well i think they will wait with adding raft because.... this would force to add some type of water zombie - ofc vultures can attack from above but without any "drowned" zombie it will be quiet powerfull at blood moon.

this encounter system reminds me of fallout 3 a small amount i remember just randomly running upon some fiends or like a few protectrons in the wastes i would imagine this would add a lot of interesting things to run into rather than just one or 2 zombies in the wild

Well one or 2 zombie in the wild in my opinion is rly good -  you know - TWD feeling that world is destroyed. I hate when in TWD dramas and " hUmAnS aRe RlY mOnStErS" show up.

Think twitch events but randomly happening to you, and configurable by xml.

...my best guess based on the trajectory of what they're adding.

I really think this ship has sailed (pun intended).
There are multiple ways to survive the blood moon without risk, if you include the raft it will hardly be a "powerful" tool to survive the feral night.
For instance, you can safely avoid the feral night with 40 ish wood frames.
I really think the zombie AI needs to be improved in the horde night to be an actual threat. The way it currently is makes surviving too easy due to the predictability of the zombies behaviours and their respawn pattern.

Additional Possibilities

Madmole's new crafting system

Bandits

Random Event Manager

The Duke, himself

The Duke's Casino POI

Raft

Reputation System

These are what I can think of that have been talked about but not yet implemented. Probably not all of these as they have said they want to keep A21 on a shorter leash.

Don't forget about MOAR POIs.  Just finished another T3 which will probably be for A21 at this point.  😁

But it really is true.

Otis + Zombies = Otis survives.

Otis + Shane + Zombies = Otis dies.

Not always:

Cod WW2 zombies manage to kill almost everyone in europe in one year because they are powerfull - panzermorgers, wustlings , brenner etc

NZA - this same thing ( okay you have occult fanatics but they are probably zombie summoners so they are undead too)

DL2 - this is new game so i don't want to spoiler so short  : ?????? >>>>>>> bandits + faction wars

L4D2 - okay i will talk about canon and about cancelled L4D3 leaks - zombies in very short time wipe out some big cities so it mean they are powerfull  enough to destroy buidlings ( tanks charger and maybe splitter acid). And in L4D3 humanity was almost wipe out so if leaks were true our base was greek island)

Girl with all gifts- spore zombies on end wipe out all humanity only doctor and zombie human hybrids kids survive. (tlou is similiar but world is just meh and it is " teenage drama story focused" that on zombies)

So humans can be rly small problem if zombies are powerfull enough.

Otis + Shane + L4D2 tank = otis and shane dead

So that's why germans, soviets, italian mafia etc work each other to survival against hell zombies.

I've noticed today that tier 3 buried supplies quests are actually closer than tier 1 and 2's. What's the default distance for quests anyway?

I just wish the buried supplies quest would quit putting the chest under roads.

For these I just start digging next to the road and then tunnel under so the road is not disturbed. It doesn't add much if any to the digging.  Also placing dirt to repair the road automatically turns it into road surface.

@Roland so zombies can be even more interesting and bigger threat that humans if they are done well. Well small thing about TWD- in first episodes zombie girl keep in hand plush toy and some zombies use brick to broke glass- it was "forgotten" because previouse director wanted to make zombies more inteligent but another director decided to keep zombies as background and "small problems" to keep focus on people

What is the reputation system? Is it among players with simple stuff like records or is it like a ranking similar to the gamestage which includes npcs that you have to surpass to be the bestest, like in STALKER?

Or like in RimWorld, but with the Duke in between, bossing around everyone and shooting at their legs to make them dance.

This is a good question.

Keep in mind that reputation was never listed as a goal or stretch goal in the original kickstarter but has been talked about by Madmole several times in the past. That means it could change or even be cut.

So there is the Duke of Navezgane with his minions and Noah with his followers. Through quests and interactions you can build or lose reputation with these factions. Some or all of the traders will  be aligned with one of the two factions meaning your ability to trade may be affected depending on your reputation with a particular faction and who that trader is allied with.

There was also talk about reputation being something like the heat map where it builds and then hits a trigger where the bandits become aware of you and so come visiting.

Throwing good and proved rpg formulas into the gameplay to enrich it is always a definitely for me. I thought the team was edgy about wrapping up the tent, but it seems the player will keep enjoying unbelievable beefy alphas for some time yet. Yes, please. No sarcasm. This is the top 1 on many a steam library. And if cash ever runs low, as Matt would say, shut up and take my monkey [in the form of pre-release dlcs (new quests, special zds, POIs, rwg stamps, etc)].
