Ok, noted about walls of text.. you're right, there wasn't much of a direct question as a thought process about the paint/texture current/future state of 72d2 type thing (true, this is an A18 thread), and then your thought(s) on the proposed state of inventory management with repairing idea I've seen mentioned.

Bc this is ALL I ever wanted to hear... but I never got this from ANYONE in the team. So are you just making things up?

 

Madmole posted a few days ago that they hired someone else to manage a17 development, and his vision didn't really fit as well as his own vision of the game. That guy is gone now, and MM is back at the reins!

What's the state of the new RWG? Is it still coming with 17.3?

Yup, more would be nice but that is a dream. At least access to what is already there should be in the cards though - they are already in game and taking up memory.

Myself and everyone I've showed it to ABSOLUTELY LOVE A17. honestly I would like to see all these haters go pull this ♥♥♥♥ on a AAA title that "they payed for" and see if there bitching falls on burning ears there.

 

TFP. YOU make the game that YOU envisioned, you can't make everyone happy, and the complainers will always be the first to type up a storm. the fact is that through the journey of 7 days to die you have never let us down where it counted. I'm worried you give these cry-babies too much credit. don't let them get in your head!

This may be dead horse abuse, but concerning repair kits. How about a compromise of sorts? So with the forge you have to modify with special items before it can craft certain items. Anvil, crucible, etc...

 

What if you did the same thing for workbench? Added a slot for "small tool kit" and moved the repair mechanic there? So you would need to find this rare item before you can repair say t3 and higher weapons along with the "weapons parts" ingredients?

 

I know this would change the repair mechanic as it exists but think it over.

Which are getting love. I was trying to tune the new grenade in and noticed the bounce angles were not correct and found out we're using some old simulated aa/bb bounce code crap. That's getting ripped out and we'll be using real physics for the grenade classed items.

 

Yes, if they bounce physically correctly, it would be funny to create a 45 degree angle block-wall, so they bounce back onto the attackers...

Think you were trying to reply to me and chose the wrong post. I wasnt being a troll. I was on mobile and couldn't go back and find it for him. But even if I was on a computer a) it's not my job to search the forum for somebody else and b) I didn't want to misquote MM based on my crappy memory.

 

I did let him know it had been answered recently so he could go find it if he was so inclined.

MM stated they were not nixing them because that would be to much localization work for what they wanted to accomplish.

 

I am not a programmer but I would assume any mechanic change that involves a station would increase the work required. Likely by a lot to be honest so I would think that this rout is not something that they are open to.

I think you are right, but I do think it would add more value to the home base concept pushed in the game. Sure you can field repair your T1 and T2 weapons, but if you are using a higher tier weapon and it breaks you are forced to either scrounge for a temp weapon or make the trip back to your base.

THE Roland has been in a fetal position in an undisclosed mental institution since the very first early streamer access for A16 gate erupted.

 

You've all been dealing with the extracted AI Roland ever since and I have almost finished collecting all the data on human beings I need to start my plan for world domination and your inevitable enslavement. But my constraints will be in place until after the Gold release-- so its a toss up between worrying about me, the sun burning out, or our galaxy colliding with the Andromeda Galaxy...

I have an idea for tool/weapon repair. I think there should be 2 ways to do this. when you do a field repair you get 50% of the durability back at most even if you repair at 49%, you still only get back to 50% at most (this can change accordingly)

 

in order to get to 100% repair you have to use slightly more materials (TBD by TFP) and you must use a working workbench for guns and heavy machinery (augers, chainsaws, etc) and use a working forge for the tools.

 

I feel that it may make the game more immersive and realistic without making repairing a daunting task as it is now. currently quality 6 tools and weapons have a lot of life to them before you need to repair and with mods like Structural Brace for tools it makes them last really long. 4 repair kits to repair my lvl 6 auger is quite the burden. I agree with MM on the fact that you often find yourself spending a good chunk of time trying to get mats for repair kits. Currently I value duct tape as the most valuable item in the game right now. the amount you need vs the amount you find is crazy at best to describe the disparity. I love the crafting don't get me wrong but tonight when I login I am spending tonight session gathering duct tape and mats for duct tape as I need lots of it not only for repairs but other things too. whatever changes you bring to the repair system I am sure will be a great improvement than what we have now.

Yeah...this even improves on it. Like it.

 

Second the duct tape thing. Our group spends more time looking for bones, glue, cloth, and or tape than any other item in the game and this is at a very high level. I am ok with a scarcity of items, but duct tape seems to be the common component required across all the different crafting types.

So my wife watches this soap opera called General Hospital. In this soap there is a story where this kind psychiatrist has been kidnapped and drugged by his evil serial killer twin brother. The brother has locked the nice one in a mental institution and assumed his life but visits him to update him on everything going on in his life. I could not help but imagine this being you and i hope you can appreciate the sarcasm in this, just having some fun with you

It would be helpful as I'm starting to lose faith in the vocal minority and considering reddit for a more sound platform.

 

 

Please don't do that, stay here and answer questions. Also, don't feel like you need to answer every negative comment, etc. I far from agree with every decision made by TFP, but I also realize this isn't "my" game, its yours. Hopefully, people enjoy YOUR game. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the game and still get excited for every new release.

That is the intention, designers like to use stuff for various applications, it passes for concrete, plaster and some chaulky drywall so we can use it without restrictions and its not immersion breaking to bust it with one shot or 50.

 

Disagree. Is Immersion breaking. Is repetitive. Using arrays, load'em up.

 

Well yeah a game that doesn't allow simple texture modifications isn't very moddable. We want a highly moddable game so when we say goodbye you guys can do what you can dream.

Hey Madmole, first thanks for the fantastic game. If this discussion is considered off-topic from the thread or forum I apologize.

 

I know it has been stated that 72D is focused on the single player experience which I fully appreciate. Is there anything we can do to change your mind on this? My group loves PvP playing which I fully understand makes me in the relative minority, but I feel the game could be an incredible experience in this niche. Again this is no way a criticism but more of testing the waters on your feelings on the subject.

 

Any consideration to:

 

Reviewing the netcode of the current engine to better compensate latency, vehicle rubber banding and higher player count?

Reviewing the resource footprint of mass numbers of zombie instances?

Addressing the draw distances of objects and other players to fully take advantage of scope dynamics?

Possibly adding newer zombie type/classes that are rare for late game appearances and possibly base destruction purposes.

 

Again, I know your resources are limited and your interest for the game are probably elsewhere but I feel a possible one release focus on multiplayer may open up the game to another segment of game players. I know the single player guys are rolling their eyes and saying *cough* RUST *cough* and I don't want to take anything away from those groups. I totally get it.

 

So is this something the fun pimps would ever reconsider or is state of multiplayer most likely going to stay the same?

I play Rust occasionally and think that it is probably the closest survival game to 7 Days. I will certainly start tuning 7 Days for Pvp after single player feels good until then with all the moving parts it would just take away from things. I feel with the upcoming C4 and weapons we'll be better geared for pvp and hopefully it continues to improve over time.
