Twitch Integration #CP - really?

The chat types #cp, on the twitch screen it says sp, when you type #cp in the twitch chat it's called pimp points. But why would anyone decide that having users type #cp in chat would be a good idea? Nobody thought the abbreviation of cp might be a bad thing?

Can you explain what is bad about cp? Obviously at least the dev at TFP doesn't know because otherwise he wouldn't have chosen it

So in the u.s. cp is a common abbreviation for child porn. Hope that is enough of an explanation about why it's bad.

CP is an acronym for hundreds of things, including 'Control Panel', 'Copilot', 'Candle Power' and rather aptly 'Cherry Picker'.  :)

thats as bad as complaining about using PP for Pimp Points, when someone will say "PP" could mean someone needs to go potty to "peepee."

may as well just stop using the alphabet completely and stop the pointless argument over which is greater.... 6 or 1/2 dozen. :)

Tonight was the first time that I tried out the twitch integration, I made a comment about the #cp command in chat and the streamer said "yea that was my first thought as well" If streamers are questioning the appropriateness of that on their own streams, is that really a good thing for the twitch integration on a platform that is probably going to have a younger viewer base?

but the entire meaning to this WILL BE, someone somewhere will complain regardless what avenue is taken. :)

it is a fact of life now-a-days that someone is always going to try to twist stuff around just for an argument. its a no win situation.

Suppose I was making an argument against cp,  but the twitch integration isn't even consistent on what the abbreviation should be. Chat uses #cp, the stream display shows sp, when you type #cp in chat it's referred to as pp. Sure you can find a bunch of different acronym's for a lot of stuff. For example, fbi i'm sure you can find other stuff that would fit. Now try fbi and cp together.

thing is tho... this isnt just with twitch... it can apply to any media. it is called variety/deversity :)

but seeings how this is in its early stages, i imagine a lot can change in time.

reminds me of FYI... just seems a bit forceful... i know it isnt but can be seen as if it is a direct statement. maybe its just me.. :)

search cp as an abbreviation.

Did you just try to make us google for child porn? That'll look good on a, say, teacher's search history.

Or do you realize that the acronym can be used for non-offending purposes even while trying to refer to the thing that feels offensive...?

OK, I did read the rest of the thread as well, but still... :)

It is ridiculous given the context of its use. #cp does not always stand for child porn... I'd be more suspicious of people who get triggered by two letters that actually stand for checkpoint within the context of the game than by the abbreviation itself. However, I let Lathan know there is chatter about this and the powers that be will make their decision.

I guess as a math teacher I should probably never use the numbers 69 or 666. Ooh I know!  I'll just teach my kids to use the number 42 and then they'll have the answer to everything all the time... smh

Can't protect certain people clearly proposing costly paperwork.  Choose properly.

All I can read is: child porn child porn child porn child porn. child porn.

And that makes YOU the deviant!

(NSA is probably alerted to me because of how many times I've typed "child porn". But at least I didn't abbreviate it because that would be truly heinous)

How does the points work for other streamers. I have seen streams where they have different names for their viewer points. Someone might call theirs mango points, another might have theirs called peanuts. How does the integration work with this. Does it not matter what the streamer calls it? Also if it goes by the streamers point system does the integration start at zero from first time it is used or will it allow the already gathered points of the viewer to be used.

Not sure if there is a post somewhere that answers these questions or not but if there is could someone link it

Don't forget centipoise, center of pressure, centrifugal pump, specific heat capacity, etc.

What you stated above I didn't think at all when cp was first mentioned.

Yeah sure. Reveal your browsing history and THEN we'll believe you. ;)

I thought cp meant @%$# pumping?

Is it a bad thing?

Well, since that is filtered and the other isn't, maybe that is really what cp stands for...
