Why? Do you have a problem with trans people? Seriously though, there are cis-women who actually *do* have deep voices like that.

If as you say you got stacks of acid you can't use for anything, why would you need a crafting recipe for acid?

 

For end game a few VERY expensive crafting recipes would be nice to have some use for all the stockpiles though. For example a blade trap with 40% more HPs but 4 times the cost of a normal one. Or a "golden gun turret" with 20% more damage but 4 times the build cost and a "platinum gun turret" with %40 more damage but 12 times the build cost, and so on. Nobody is forced to use them but they are what players would eventually build after they have everything else.

 

There, exactly, that what I was thinking, I just can't articulate things well.

I don't care how you try to rationalize it, trinkets will not be crafted. Go gather wood and coal for your team all you want. You still need to risk your neck finding the trinket in a zombie filled POI. We're not allowing people to go into a mine and craft the world.

 

Legendary items incoming for A18. Confirmed. lol :strawberry:

but you AREN'T a "true rpg". You might be in alpha 25. But right now you are a sandbox survival with skillpoints. Nothing else has anything to do with and rpg. There is no story, there is no "interactive" world, you have no characteristics... nothing.

And when di you play a sandbox and thought "huh... I just spent 200 hours building that awesome thing and gathering all those ressources with my hard work...

Lets just start from scratch and farm all that stuff again.

Please. If you have a story, npcs and a radient world, sure. Implement a skillcap.

But until then there is NO benefit in it, except that everyone is going to mod that skillcap out anyways.

 

AGAIN, AN RPG is about character progression and meaningful choice affecting the world or your character. Story can be a part of that but RPG is not exclusive to story elements. If we don't add a cap, then its not as much of an RPG, because everyone can become the same demi god over time.

 

We haven't even capped it yet. Its just an insanely high number, so again, lets quit these false alarm posts before we get another runaway thread I don't have time to read.

 

But posts like this make me want to cap it, just to prove I'm right and the game would be better for it. Which demi god is best would be a more interesting discussion, rather than all demi gods are the equal. With no cap they will all be the same one day if they grind, cheat or mod.

 

Right now our feeling is that most players will re-roll a new character as its more fun to have that new challenge than to play 2000 hours to reach level 300.

Updated again to make it even more clear and noticeable. What about melting Dukes down in the forge for brass? Is that going to make it into A18 or at all? You considered the idea before.

 

Not sure yet, I have no problem getting brass. It kind of devalues the traders.

If you do that, I predict you are going to have a fair number of disgruntled players. Roland did a poll towards the beginning of A17...I can't remember the exact wording, but one of the poll questions was a choice between being able to learn all the perks by end game, and not. And the poll swung overwhelmingly towards people wanting to know everything rather than specialising.

 

I wish you guys would do more polls actually.

 

For the hundredth time, we're not adding a level cap for A18, and any further comments on this will be considered off topic.

It is not about 1000 minerals, but it would be more realistic and it would be more interesting to find more rare minerals and not always the same ones. In addition, realistically, some weapons, tools and other objects for crafting need those materials.

 

You do realize every item we add to the game takes up an inventory slot? We have all the minerals we want right now, more would be over design and clog up inventory. Realism is the worst game designer, his ugly little brothers name is over design.

+100 to game staged loot on horde night would do it IMO. Lucky looter on steroids during the blood moon, and increase chance to drop.

 

When you eventually put legendary weapons in, this would be a good way for them to drop. Make them extremely rare to loot out in the world, but on horde nights you get a 100% to drop one random legendary weapon per horde night. Or something in that vein.

To be fair, I don't think many of us ever really thought of the game as an RPG, so whether or not it is 'much of an RPG' isn't that important. The game was already great before the RPG elements were added in recent alphas.

 

If you do go ahead and cap it, might I suggest a toggle in the settings? I mainly play with friends, so being forced to specialise doesn't concern me much, but I know if I was playing single player, I would want all the things.

How about adding some zombies eating corpses on the road?

 

You already have the animations ready and the corpse models ready, it will definitely add to the atmosphere and make driving more interesting.

I've always viewed an rpg as games where you get into combat to gain xp and raise your levels to get stronger, life if they decided to add a gamemode where when you level up you randomly gain a perk, advanced would be if you chose a character class and randomly gained a perk for that skillset only, to be honest I would love to do a playthrough where when leveling up your skillpoints were randomly distributed for you, it would mean that you play with what is given to you, for better or worse, could make for some fun playthroughs in my opinion, plus with madmoles addition of the new book system eventually through looting you can get the perks you want, then again my ways of fun are odd lol.

 

As far as story goes right now its looking like some seedy stuff in the background, look at higashi, seems very umbrella like to me, the shamway factory having all those chem labs inside and such, the story for me is told through the environment, sure i would enjoy readable books that told survivor tales, maybe leading to a great loot treasure or amazing base underground they found, even lore on ingame computers when they get added that you get to read, diarys left in houses explaining what happened during certain days even a year prior who knows.

 

On the brass issue, there is steel bullets, i can live without added brass to be gained though i am glad there are books to raise obtaining certain elements, this game is evolving better than most that I play and i am loving it every minute, keep up the good work fun pimps, and madmole i sure cannot wait to check out all the dynamic music you guys have added to the game :)

+1 always wanted that, also, a pack of wolves (dogs too) eating a deer corpse, a hanged zombie that came back to life and can't get out of the rope, eating to the bone skeletons inside some cars. (fallout does this kind of small details that tell a little story and it's amazing)

Audio tapes

 

What about adding audio cassettes as loot and a player to listen to them? It would be really cool to listen to someone’s last days or perhaps a secret location or buried treasure. Maybe it could even reveal how to kill certain infected? If nothing else, it could add some lore and atmosphere to the game.

What is this talk about missions for settlements? Will 7D2D be adding friendly NPC's settlers?

 

Not for A18 but hopefully in the future.

 

 

Also, is 7D2D planning to add gambling joints and such to the game?

Pretty much this. Everything is subject to change, even post gold, just not as much. I feel pretty good about the attributes and their perks now. I don't see much new or removal from A18, but balance will go on for a while.

 

I'm looking forward to playing different builds.

I'm going to make a save for each and play the one I feel like that day.

There may be one that I like the most, but I won't know unless I try... and trying will be fun.
