He used a mod, he also apparently used a mod for the seed, since you can't actually load that seed up with stock (too many characters). IMO modded seeds shouldn't be posted in this thread.

 

That limit is only for the previewer though, correct? From the New Game screen it would work even unmodded.

dude this seed is awesome, when i play spawned next to a cabin and a trader

10/10 would recommend !!

 

I totally agree. Spawned in the desert but have 10,000 yucca nearby, two dozen jars and a lake. also about eight milion feathers but trees are hard to come by in the desert, went north to a forest and another lake.

Well I found "Lucky One" and it was amazing. Tonnes of military camps and a decent amount of cities, not too overwhelming with wasteland biomes. Recently I've been following the "Lucky *" line, lucky one, etc, and now moved to "Random Gen" and recently Random One.

I played same map as someone in youtube and went in the same city but it was totally different.. every shop and good stuff are only ruins in my world, is that because he was playing alpha 16 and I'm alpha 16.4? :upset: I would like to have good loot near me because I'm new in this game so it's quite must have :D

Some of the seeds here that don't have a picture are rly awesome. Therefore I'm gonna help people out with the pictures^^

I picked 3 of my favorites from this thread and added one of my own (PortTujo). 9 cities at size 1 is a must imo, otherwise it's not a good seed at all (every map contains a ton of cities if u go size 5...). If anyone knows of a seed that has 8 or 9 cities rly close to each other at size 1 let me know ;7 I rly want a megacity to play on.

 

€: After inspecting more closely I believe dexterra is the best seed I've ever seen oO Whoever mentioned it: Big thanks! 7 of 9 cities contain several (3+) (Higashi in 7, Dishong in 5 or 6) skyscrapers, military camps and military forts/bunkers, the traders are always close to the cities. The map is flat and has little water. It's just amazing.

There is nothing modded about that seed. Go start a new game on a vanilla unmodded copy and you will find the save matches the preview displayed.

Yes, I modded the previewer to add the legend.

Yes, the modded version of the previewer accepts more than 13 characters just like when creating a save.

You are correct. The 13 character limit only affects the previewer. The seed as shown in the modified previewer will generate in an unmodded game as displayed.

how can you choose, what size your random map has?

before i was thinking, you just have to get the right size in the custom mapviewer, but i always get the biggest size possible, no matter what im doing. can someon e explain to me?

 

If you're talking about what size the preview of the map: You need to assign it's size number 1-5 (smallest -> largest). Inputting a 2 or 3 work well and don't take that much time and will give you a good sense on how the world will be.

 

If you want to zoom out so you can see more of the map (so its not so zoomed in): Mover cursor to top of the preview screen <left click> and hold, then drag down to the bottom of the preview screen (rinse and repeat).

You would need to manually edit the rwgmixer.xml (in the games config folder) to increase/decrease the world size.

 

This is what you need to alter:

 

 

 

At the top of the file you need to adjust the generation_distance="" value.

<ruleset name="vanilla" cell_cache_size="8" cell_size="1800" cell_offset="0" generation_distance="[color="#FFFF00"]10000[/color]" terrain_generator="vanilla" biome_generator="vanilla">

 

Example adjustment:

<ruleset name="vanilla" cell_cache_size="8" cell_size="1800" cell_offset="0" generation_distance="[color="#FFFF00"]20000[/color]" terrain_generator="vanilla" biome_generator="vanilla">

 

Then towards the bottom you will need to find the - <biome_spawn_rules> then find

<biome_spawn_rule name="radiated">
<distance_from_center range="[color="#FFFF00"]10000,20000[/color]"/> <- you will need to adjust these values.
</biome_spawn_rule>

 

Example adjustment:

<biome_spawn_rule name="radiated">
<distance_from_center range="[color="#FFFF00"]20000,21000[/color]"/> 
</biome_spawn_rule>

Then save and restart a new world.

 

Notepad++ will make this pretty easy to accomplish but you can do it with the original notepad that comes with windows as well.

 

*You can make the world smaller as well by doing the same thing*

**The bigger you make the map and the farther you get away from "0,0" the more shaky the player will get (just a fyi)**

 

 

Sorry there is no easier way to do it but it is what it is atm.

All of these seeds have 9 cities at size 1 in previewer. I have not tried these out myself, just spent a lot of time in previewer.

 

Deadzedx (9 equally spread out)

SardineCity (3 cities close by)

1BIGcity3 No water, 3 cities close by, flat, lots of green

XXXlargeCity two very large cities one of them has 2 smaller towns nearby, one is super close

XXXlargeCity1 Looks flat, no water, looks like lots of POIs/traders. I am trying this one out after posting this.

XXXlargeCity5 Odd river/water generation. mostly green. The water in this map is "rivers" that snake very oddly.

boxedcities1 has four medium cities adjacent/close (2 touch). LOTS of burnt forest however. 2 Cities are in this burnt forest area and care close to each other.

Try seed 1234567891234 We love this map. More towns and cities than we know what to do with.
