ElCabong
I found one and I didn't care about the other Edited November 19, 2023 by ElCabong (see edit history)
pApA^LeGBa
Well as we have the noob coat until level 5, it´s the crack a book for sure. But tbh both aren´t my favorite first choice. Cooking pot and a bit of water/food is my number one priority on day one, so houses and restaurants first. On day 2 i would get them both.
Old Crow
Day 1 I'd do the Crack-A-Book.
Pernicious
First instinct is Crack-A-Book - I value having the long term skills. But day 1 - doesn't the Savage Country big store have a weapons rack about midway through the store (Won't drop any firearms on day 1 though), and usually a few crates at the back, which have a high chance of food? And all the clothes scrap for good cloth for bandages and later duct tape.
Callum123456789
for sure the crack a book the benefits are much greater than the clothes from the clothing store early on.
Darthjake
Yeah, but savage country also has a chance for bow type loot too.
Roland
Depends on whether I've decided which perk tree I'm going to focus on. If not, I'd do Savage first while coming to my decision and then spend my accumulated perk points before doing the Crack-a-Book. On the other hand it might be fun to loot the Crack-a-book with no boosts and see what the gods tell me to do for this playthrough based on which mags I find the most of with no perks influencing anything. That'd be a intersting way to play, Leaving it up to Rng for what you spec into based on how many mags for each stat u get or something.
Ramethzer0
Savage Country first, then Crack-a-book. As I've mentioned, I tend to play hybridized builds. Edited November 21, 2023 by Ramethzer0 (see edit history)
warmer
I would say savage country. I tend to save crack a books until I have put a few points into my preferred weapon to help with magazine drops.
Vaeliorin
I like to try to hold off on Crack A Books until I've maxed out cooking, since the cooking magazines are so insanely common in cabinets/food piles, and I'd hate to waste a bookshelf or book crate on them. vom
I change the game difficulty so that looting isn't a very good idea for 1 day old characters - food, water, and shelter should be the priority. Some of you need to increase the game difficulty, and PERMADEATH is like the fundamental core difference. It's just a different game.
