  1. Building and removing has always been weird the one day back in 19.6 we decided to blow up dishong tower with rocket launchers and there was entire sections just.. floating in midair. I've also noticed that if i build a 9x9 cube on support columns every 3 blocks, then remove a block from 4 beams on one entire side, it won't collapse even if i have a roof too. Just gotta take extra precautions when building larger stuff and ALWAYS have a nice pillar 3 blocks thick to be extra secure
  2. I realized I did a reply on my previous post, so I've got a weird occurrence of issues going on here. I've been playing the game on a Dell S2721DGF, at first I had a lot of flickering like the Msi Optix MAG27CQ was facing. After running the game with Vulkan I've noticed less issues. If i look real hard I can see flickering still, but not nearly to the extent of moving a frame and seeing clear white fade in them out within 0.5ms. It seems to have gone down to 0.2-0.3ms so it's much less noticable. I'm having a hard time telling whether it's my GPU, the drivers, or the game. I can definitely say it's not the monitor though as the Optix has more issues than I accounted for and the flickering is still there on my Dell albeit way more minor. The biggest change I did was lowering the terrain quality to high. I am seeing the white streaks all over the screen after about 1 hour and 15 minutes of gameplay as others have been reporting.
  3. I wouldn't worry about it too much friend! There are over hundreds of the same loot containers, losing 20 max is no biggy, especially since POIs refresh over time. Obviously don't go breaking everything all the time, but don't be nervous about it if you need it!
  4. It is based on how many blocks down you go. I always stuck with 2 blocks below the surface and I've never once encountered it deeper than three. When i watched videos of people going down as far as 7 blocks block.. it could be there too
  5. I haven't heard of this new zombie type! How does one find a box head?
  6. I've just returned to this thread to say that I'm going through the white glitchy artifacts in the sky all over again, plus the shadow issues flickering. I've got a new monitor which is a nice flat IPS panel. (Dell S2721DGF). HDR, Freesync, and response time being extreme are disabled. I've been testing it on A20 and 19.6, A20 has a catastrophic amount of rendering issues, which is the case of a new system and the version being experimental. We're just gonna have to wait till they fix it, hopefully they can comment or give us any information as to what's going on, as well as any potential fixes. (if there are any). Edit: I'm about to test the Vulkan version and see if anything changes.
  7. I don't play multiplayer because my 3 friends that did play all got boring jobs at places that don't offer remote work, and the bills don't pay themselves. I've had no issues ever running multiplayer, aside from the blades trap health not updating properly and rendering them unusable. I haven't done any testing with it in A20 yet as.. my friends aren't available. As for the performance being bad, have you checked any of the changes made in A20 compared to 19.6? There have been massive overhauls to zombies and random gen. I'm noticing more graphical glitches in A20 than 19.6, you know why? Early access game with an unstable version. Which will get optimized as we report issues to them, and they take the time to make it work properly. Patience is a virtue, so is expressing the problems your having to them instead of coming up with absurd assumptions about everyone.
  8. I'd like to say as an extremely avid Skyrim player, Bethesda and the entire 400k team learned that the bone traps which make noise weren't enough. They went out of their way to put torches in weird places and have lights in crucial places so you physically can't stealth everywhere. This game personally doesn't have that entire implementation into POIs, and they are trying a new system. In skyrim, if I don't have perks into stealth then there is very little way I'm going to get that 30x backstab damage. In 7 Days, if I don't have that stealth perk maxed, then I'm just having a higher CHANCE to not get seen. It's certainly an improvement, I will not deny that. However, if Skyrim was all rolls in the background instead of all your stats combined vs each NPC type, you'd never get stealth done. I'm not going to mention the stealth perk that makes you invisible for 1 second when crouching in Skyrim since I'm avoiding magical effects from perks as they're very OP and can often break mechanics so badly that it's impossible to fail. Enchanted gear is different as the devs are talking about adding gear sets which we can assume magic. Where stealth stands now, we're taking steps into a better direction, but we need less auto triggers and more lights so your stealth perks can shine better. As for the set bonuses, I can only assume the stealth armor buff becomes a thing that will allow stealth to be as it should.
  9. At the cost of moving slower, taking the time to spend ludicrous amount of points into it, and crafting the bullets/arrows needed since you're ALWAYS using a projectile. Not to mention the quality of the weapon matters and you're going to use much weaker armor. If you can stealth through an entire POI, you're obviously taking the time to do so and going in with a sledgy and machine gun is 6x faster.
  10. If I design the entire base to be made of rails/bars or anything that can be shot through. Then I can hit zombies no matter where they are. I won't have the threat of them beating down walls either as I can only assume steel rails have the same health as a steel block. That's the only concern I have. I don't mind if it stays the same or gets changed, I just wanted to present it to everyone as it would make any base in PvP a mechanic-breaking mess. Not that I play PvP, I heavily avoid it.
  11. As of now, this is what I call a "budget gate of Gondor" (see attached picture). I'm wondering if the shape menu blocks will all get health re-balances as my railings that are V2 corners along with the regular rails all have the exact same amount of health as regular blocks. On one side if it doesn't get re-balanced, it allows POI designers to use whatever blocks they want without worrying about health. On the other side, people like me who are horde base designers MAY abuse this to make horde bases that allow us to shoot wherever we so desire. Without blocks obscuring our vision and allowing us to shoot out of railings or bars without hindrances. I personally wouldn't mind either way as I don't abuse horde base designs, however I can't speak for everyone else. I'm not sure how badly this can affect PvP if hardcore players design bases in such ways that THEY can shoot out and no one can shoot in. Just something to consider, otherwise the health of blocks doesn't affect me or my bases as I don't like cheesing. I don't consider this a bug, as much as a design flaw.
  12. Did you delete all the settings in the launcher under the tools section and delete all the save game, registry and install files specifically for 7 days, then verify integrity of files?
  13. If your memory usage is hitting 100%, then you don't have enough ram. Try generating a smaller world if you can't upgrade it to 16GB. Navezgane uses significantly less ram.
  14. There's currently a bug that causes newly made random gen worlds to not release ram after it's been created. The fix for now is to close the game after it's generated. Then you can play freely! There was talks of a loot slider, but it didn't go anywhere as of yet. So we're just gonna have to wait and see!
  15. I believe the exp is calculated based on material value and how much of the material is used (material count). I've made a few recipe mods before and I specifically gated how much exp they gave, could be the same scenario here. Edit: under the misc tab of the A20 Known Issues list, it startes: Crafting resource bundles grants XP when it shouldn't. So it is a known bug.
  16. You pretty much nailed it on the head. I've point blank shot a zombie dog in the face with the shotgun on warrior and it did literally nothing to stagger it. I always end up just pulling the pipe MG. As you've said it's the most powerful and I can assure you the ammo is not scarce enough. Get a daring adventurer point and there's 60x7.62 bullets. Almost Everytime or every other time. In the end the pipe MG is just too powerful. It holds 3-4x more ammo than the rest, has about the same reload time as the pipe pistol, and does more damage than the pipe rifle. There's literally 1 reason to avoid making it or using it, and that reason is if you don't have 7.62 ammo.
  17. They actually don't want you to be full stealth and walk through a POI silently killing everything and not having to risk your health. Which would normally be okay, but I think they're going out of their way to make it so stealth isn't fully viable unless you don't mind running back to the front of the POI, waiting 20-40ish seconds, then killing them silently in the hallway. Which is causing problems because they make them hide behind nearly every single effing wall so you can just barely, if not get detected. It's definitely got better, but it's far from good. It makes it so those of us who melee have to charge our swings before we enter their trigger range and time it right otherwise we get hit. It's gotten a lot worse in that aspect and it's stupid. Who cares if people want to silently go through a POI? We have a detection meter and a gosh darn stealth perk for a reason, let us properly use em and get rid of the auto trigger mess. It's especially noticeable in the new gas station and fastfood t1 quests.
  18. Happy holidays and may your card be viable for the years to come!
  19. It created the maps and the river layout almost perfectly, it hasn't overhauled water at all which was not a benefit of A20. It'll get overhauled in A21 per the roadmap. Edit: By almost perfectly, we have cotton and plants that don't belong where some of them are.
  20. I generally get around 120-80FPS, heavily depends on my location. The problem with trying to calculate performance in cities is that everything is randomly generated. Having Dishong Tower instead of Higashi can harm FPS, having a gas station instead of a fastfood place can also have differing effects. With that out of the way, I sometimes run BETTER after 30 minutes of playing. I can't say too much about it though because I restart my game at 04:00 sharp. I've never really liked spears so unfortunately I can't give helpful advice on that side of things. Other than that, it runs pretty smoothly for me, better than A19 by far where I'd be lucky to get 80FPS.
  21. Competition is good, albeit not great to behold. Intel is actually doing rather good in terms of clock speeds and having pure cores to allocate games too. I've got this game using my last 4 cores which are non-hyperthreaded. As for AMD, if they can ever fix their awful driver problems and can optimize the engine or whatever you call it for game developers. Then it'll be much better to use. Probably not to Nvidia's level but to a point of which these issues aren't consistent and nearly resolved. Every manufacturer and company will have issues in the end no matter what it is. There is no perfect company in this world that we can fully trust or rely on. So the entire AMD/Intel, Nvidia/AMD fight will always persist and it's our jobs as consumers to relay any issues and get people in-the-know of what issues there are and how companies are being negligent. That's how it works in the tech world, even though it's terrible.
  22. My only suggestion is to go through the log file and check for what caused your character to die. I've not encountered the problem, so hopefully the log file can help you! Edit: log files can be found here for Windows <gamefolder>/7DaysToDie_Data/output_log.txt
  23. I love it the way it is, but I feel bad for y'all who want it a different way and can't have it. I thought there were talks of a "loot slider" to balance it for all play styles. The way I like to play is having the best possible gear by day 28-35 since that's when I start to get bored. If I find any Q6 gear before then, I'm way more than happy to slap it on or use it no matter the day. It just means I have a reduced chance to die and in a zombie apocalypse that's exactly what you want. I like the food along with the infection change since it forces me to think about my approach and constantly be on the lookout.
  24. Yup it's still the meta. I've noticed less encounters that are auto trigger, but they're still plentiful and it's not worth it to spec into. UNLESS you don't mind a slower pace and have feral sense disabled. All feral sense does is increase the range they can hear you. Stealth is still possible, but only if your maxed and sneak 99.9% of the time. I personally keep a bow ready as there are still plenty of random 3.5x hits you can get. Perked sledgies and a decent automatic weapon will get every POI cleared without much hassle. I'm not sure if uou place frames in a door, but if you do then break that habit since A21 will let them crawl right through that space.
