  1. I was fairly amused when I first discovered it. Now I'm debating using one as a late-stage home base. The one with the comical name; Has anyone else seen it yet?
  2. Simple answer. Likely never to happen.
  3. My experience thus far is that water is not as rare as people as saying, but thirst has been re-calculated to be something more of a concern these days. I kinda feel this is not a bad change. At vanilla settings in solo I had 4 dew collectors working before the end of my second day. This was not a difficult achievement. Some of the things mentioned like Glue crafting can be solved by choosing them as first tier rewards from trader quests. If you are lucky enough ( like I was in my MP server) you can loot a helmet mod that will instantly solve all your water problems. Also, MANY people tend to overlook the simple logic of looting any POI that may have bathrooms or kitchens. The list of POI's that contain these is vast.
  4. I'm not going to use such a dramatic expression as 'vomit inducing.' But the lighting is making certain aspects of the game a bit more frustrating to deal with. I also have one situation where the I crafted my first lever action rifle and when I fire it, there is a puff of smoke from the report that obscures vision, even moreso at night, and even worse during Horde Night. Was this intended? Does it relate to the lighting issue in some way? Dynamic lighting sounds like it could have multiple situational meanings, and im wondering how else this affects gameplay.
  5. Be aware that your situation is normal in some ways, and highly irregular in others. First of all, the experience of looting is tied to that particular player. It will NOT reflect that game as a whole, evenly. RNG is a harsh mistress, as is trader loot. I'd be really careful of making a judgement of success/failure based upon that without diving into server settings, the relative lootstage/biome/perk rollout of each of the players, and not doing a full comparison between all trader merchandise across the board. Your results may vary WIDELY and is not representative of everyone's gameplay, both in MP or even moreso in SP. That being said: Crafting is very necessary but only in relation to the whole. 7 Days has a lot of moving parts. Some of these elements may be considerable during each of the stages of gameplay. I feel your question wholly misrepresents crafting as a whole versus, say, Tool Crafting. You will never experience a moment during your gameplay where crafting is useless, as you will continuously need to gain and process resources, whereas you might not need to craft as many weapons/tools/etc. You may want to try another type of build, swallow your fergit it, and pick up a whole new gear set. This is on top of the subject that has been spoken about at length with the notion of non-craftable t6 weapons and tools. TFP did this to make them special. I understand having multiple t6 of the same object feels less special but this is not a factor of coding, but of value placed upon them by we as people. Crafting versus looting is a nuanced monster. Generalizing the experience and pushing it as a failed system because you feel that you were failed as a player; I would feel like as a personal issue. The current crafting and looting system are going through some changes, and even at vanilla setting are noticeable. I'd be a little more patient and try to glean a deeper perspective than what you currently have. You're going to experience both worse, and better, over time and across multiple playthroughs. How fortunate you are will play a massive role in shaping your experiences.
  6. I wouldn't go so far to say as its the new Sexy. It seems very popular right now, because streamers and the like have hyped it up. It's received some love, but because of its animation, you gotta be extra precise with how you strike with it. I've whiffed more with the spear now, than I ever have previously. I'm not saying this is imbalanced, but the feel of the gameplay has only just been altered, I don't consider it better as a singular weapon, nor do I consider it superior to others. I am a fan of its ability to cause more knockdown, and in a pinch can also be used as a (albeit less) flesh harvesting tool. In fact, after some testing with all the melee weapons, they all FEEL buffed, but I am also experiencing how the new perks engage alongside their respective perks and magazine changes. The jury is still out on the subject of weapon superiority to me. I remain confident that there is no king of the melee, only that each weapon still retains the spirit of its advantage, with Batons and Spears feeling a little more user friendly. The robotic sledge turret is still underwhelming (and the reason for their nerf is quite deserved) but I'd like to see it do more when wielded instead of placed, which could be a coding nightmare for all I know. On a semi-related note, my GF just got into knuckle weapons after being a long time AGI build fanatic and she's having the time of her life as a Pugilist Tank.
  7. I looted 2 ATM's with just one lockpick each, then I found one that practically ate 12. Its a headscratcher for sure, but I've learned to expect the strange during experimental.
  8. Allow me a bit of clarification on this particular point. I am specifically addressing the posts that include too much loot, too little loot, zombies hitting so hard at the beginning of the game, zombies becoming bullet sponges, people posting bad luck looting after a gazillion days but do not post how long their in game days are, too many resources, too little resources, et al. The list of complaints is exhaustive in this relation. As for world generation, I have less experience in this as I typically make about a hundred maps before deciding which one I like best for convenience reasons. If I had a beef with map generation in terms of biomes, I'd posit that I dislike having mass expanses of empty space that isn't interesting in any way.
  9. Found your problem. I'm guessing you knew that skill books were somewhat common, particularly in news stands/mailboxes/etc etc. So, armed with that knowledge you did the thing that precipitated the problem you're describing. You didn't have to loot the books so fast, or as thoroughly. You could have just played casually. Would you have had a different opinion on the matter had you not decided to power level your spear crafting skill? Because a casual or a first time player would generally not have had the same experience, and thusly not had the same fast paced progression you did.
  10. Since I'm already sick to death for the negativity being spread on the forums regarding just about everything: I gotta say I am really happy that I finally have a use for the water purification mod that can be installed in helmet. Kiiiinda useful now.
  11. It's absolutely mind boggling how many people that come here complaining have massive preconceived notions about how one is supposed to play. And then when they are confronted with a problem, instead of trying something different, it turns into a madness induced series of salt posts. Every iteration of this game has been pretty cool for me thus far. I don't always agree with everything that has changed, but at least I understand why the change(s) had to happen. And not all of the reasons for change were readily understandable just at an in game glance. Sometimes TFP had to change something due to a coding issue or as a way to optimize something. Sometimes that step back meant a huge step forward. But some folks just have no patience. Straight to the forums, zero experience, very little perspective, sometimes even desperately immature, but mostly? Just effing lazy or entirely lacking in problem solving skills. Most folks don't even bother to try to understand how the RWG selection system works. Many problems can be solved just by trimming these settings. EDIT: Yeah I'm really regretting reading the forum now, as most of these issues are (at least what I consider to be) people being the architects of their own sorrows.
  12. I remember that era of 16.4 and I found that while it made the game more grindy and gritty, it did virtually nothing to help me enjoy it in the long term. I was far more into public worlds then, but many of them lacked staying power for fear of the entry level grind. Without a minibike, most folks were kinda stuck in place, and a single city looses it luster after a while. This was doubly true if the city you were stuck in was nothing but a massive field of cell towers.
  13. You can trim looting settings if it becomes too easy. Finding the balance with your game toggles has been essential for helping me find the sweet spot. Good luck! I can absolutely second this. UL made this game entirely better for me in all the ways that I enjoy. Massive props to Subquake and co for making it!
  14. If it was re-implemented I don't think that'll have as much impact as you think. With the tiny exception of early gamestages, to the current system of looting one need not bother even crafting a first one sometimes. I'm currently playing a vanilla Navezgane playthrough with 3 friends, with and I only had to craft one set of tools for myself and the others before we were looting tools that were higher than I was crafting. The system of item degradation as it stands seems to be enough to worry about. I also understand that some folks' miles may vary, but in almost every case scenario I've experienced, past a few days in game, and looting seems to be more effective than crafting.
  15. I think the most I'd ever ask for from TFP about smg's is maybe update the overall HK model to the UMP. I was delighted to see the FN-P90 made it into Undead Legacy overhaul mod. It even handles really well.
  16. The great thing about this particular problem is that you have the power to change everything about it.
  17. I believe that the Fallout Ghouls are programmed to do that as a one trick pony. I only use this as a comparison when the zombies in 7 Days, who would rush me, dodge my incoming blow, hit me in the leg, and then stand back up again with (as its been said) no animation cues. There are rare moments when they've ducked me twice in a row, but this was before I was told there is an environment reason for doing so.
  18. It's called a 'Tactical Reload' and its absolutely vital. 😛 Fight me.
  19. I've never understood why we need so many 'firearm realism' threads. I've seen it the same phenomena in sci-fi games like Destiny 2. No one is EVER happy, no matter how it looks. Soon you'll get arguments about rare scenarios where someone had custom built or modded any given firearm within 5 minutes and produced an entirely different weapon. I rather like the SMG as it is, tbh.
  20. You're effing cruel, dude. Finding out about this too late while surrounded by a horde would just be gruesome.
  21. I'm gracious enough to let some Monty Python shtick pass, but.. I'm still gunna roll my eyes at it regardless.
  22. I mostly made that as an offhanded comment very early in my morning. If Bandits dodge, I'd still be a little put off (because we are not capable of the same mechanic) but eventually I'd just accept it. I really dislike this mechanic in Fallout 4 and 76, and its only because of Feral Ghouls having this ability when any given melee PC has to close distance normally. And as for the dodging mechanic, I've had this argument before. Others have had this to say to me yet most of the experiences I've had plenty of zombies straight up shoot me from the ground MMA style. It actually happened to me this last thursday. I had drawn agg on one, with my shotgun out, and my partner ran into the room to spear it from the side and the zombie straight up ducked her shot! I was on the ground floor of an open roofed ruin while this happened. I asked everyone in my group if they just saw the same thing I did after the fight was over and the majority did. So.. as vocal as some have been, I'm not going to deny the proof of my own multiple experiences. Imagine anyone doing something in a video game compared to real life, and we can compare fictions until you decide how long that lasts until it sounds tedious.
  23. I hope bandits don't do that duck and dodge that zombies sometimes do in melee.
