  1. If that's what the journal says, it's wrong (or you're playing a mod...kinda looks like Darkness Falls, honestly, though that would mention uranium/plutonium and titanium or tungsten or something along those lines.) Heck, the burnt forest doesn't exist any more, boulders and gravel spots have nothing to do with mining (there isn't even surface gravel outside of roads any longer), there's no "predominate ore" and stuff isn't found only near bedrock. If I'm remembering correctly there might have been boulders and gravel in A17 or A18 (though I might be remembering a mod) but that certainly hasn't been the case for several alphas. Also, I regularly one-shotted stone and 2-shotted iron/lead in previous alphas. It required good tools modded properly.
  2. You could 1 shot stone (and 2 shot iron/lead) for a number of alphas now. Also, there's never been coal in the desert (unmodded.) It has oil shale instead.
  3. I gotta admit, as weird as it is, I miss concrete drying. Yeah, it was kind of annoying because it was random, but I miss that thrill of upgrading something and hoping it would dry before horde night.
  4. Turn all the clay soil back into clay, make nails with whatever is left over, then you should be able to pick it up.
  5. I've seen them left over from wandering hordes. But not naturally spawning.
  6. Wolves and bears don't spawn in the forest any more. They were removed in A21. I wish they did still spawn there, then I wouldn't have to search out the wasteland/snow to get some testosterone to make a cigar.
  7. Mostly, I play on 2 hour days. But I also had maxed miner 69er/motherlode and a Q6 steel pickaxe. One shot stone, 2 shot iron. Not loot abundance modded (though I have modded stack sizes) and only a single mine (though it might have had 2 or 3 nodes within it, I don't recall exactly. I mine by going out 5 blocks in every direction from a surface node (if multiple surface nodes fit in that box, then 5 from each node) and then mining a rectangle all the way down to bedrock. I'm still always short on stone (and clay in A21 for some reason.)
  8. Yes, there are terrifying snakes at night. No wolves or bears, though.
  9. That's not really true. I once got my xp gain up over 2 million (the little thing in the corner that shows your xp) doing upgrades.
  10. You say that, but in several hundred hours of A21, I have yet to find a crafting magazine for a series I had completed outside of a loot container that specifically drops that magazine type. It's one of the reasons I'm so happy to complete the cooking series, because I hate getting them from bookcases/book crates. Heck, you never even find them in cupboards any longer after you complete the series, just out of food piles. I'm not arguing what the xml says. It's pretty clear. And yet experience (and a decent amount of it) implies there must be something beyond the xml that effects the drop of magazines. I can't recall ever getting a crafting magazine of a type I've completed from a bookcase or skill magazine bundle.
  11. This to me is the biggest problem with the change. The game actively punishes you now for having points in multiple skills. Mags get dropped from the loot table unless you're looting something that can only drop specific types of magazines. So after I max cooking, the only place I find cooking magazines any longer are food piles. Similarly with medical magazines in medical piles and Forge Ahead in cement mixers. Getting things like seed/cooking/medical magazines out of the loot table means you're more likely to find things that are useful in book cases.
  12. The shops are probably a T4. The Super Savage Country is a bit much. It's a T3 that has Feral Wights and Feral Spiders at the end. Not super hard, but it seems weird to have those specific zombies in a T3.
  13. Yeah, I've been going with 36 dew collectors in most of my worlds. Granted, I have the mod that lets me compress them, so the 36 is really only 4 that I have to loot/place.
  14. Cool, so they're going to nerf resources from mining? I spent an ingame day (well, more like 3/4 of a day) mining since the trader didn't have any quests I was interested in, and I came back with 300k iron and 200k stone. Seems like an overabundance to me (though truth be told, I'll probably use all of that eventually.)
  15. 7D2D and Minecraft for me. Never played any other "survival" game, and not really interested. I'd love for drinking to have some sort of gameplay value, I just don't feel like it currently does. I played a Hardcore Survival Minecraft modpack many years ago (it was called Crash Landing, iirc) and in that getting water was incredibly hard at the start, but you eventually could start to automate it, and in the end could have it completely automated. The important part there is that it took a decent amount of time before you could automate it, but that's not really the case in 7 Days. I'd love to see more complexity in crafting and processing various resources (I generally play "expert" modpacks when playing Minecraft), but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the direction that 7 Days is going.
  16. You know, people say this, but I went through a Savage Country and came out with ~3200 cloth. Last night I wanted to make 500 duct tape, but I only had 5022 cloth, so I settled for making 100 duct tape, since I didn't want to use basically all my cloth just for duct tape.
  17. I honestly don't care about the jars. I don't mind the change (other than I wish I could pipe all my dew collectors together to a single collection point) I just think it was a wasted effort that could have been better spent on something else. Not really wrong expectations, just that I happened to be on day 29. I had a hundred or so water that I'd collected sitting in a box after 4 or 5 days (which admittedly surprised me, but I've been more focused on looting this playthrough than I would normally be). I've been lackadaisical about making dew collectors and bad at keeping up with looting them this playthrough. The thing is, I'm not some kind of hardcore survivalist player that wants water and food to be a challenge. They could completely get rid of food and water (and stamina outside of combat) and I'd be completely cool with that. Like I said, it just seems like wasted effort that could have been spent adding something more meaningful to the game.
  18. I know what they say. I'm saying they utterly failed in their attempt. Water is at best an issue for a single day, two at most, and trivial after that.
  19. Yeah, I always grow cotton (admittedly, I typically have 25 plots of every plant), but I almost never use it. Used to having items that require cotton, but that mod just got updated a day or so ago. It just feels like I'm wasting my time harvesting couches and curtains, but it's such a habit that I can't stop.
  20. And what, pray tell, did they fix? I'm on day 29 (basically) and I've got over 700 water in a box, and the materials to craft another 9 dew collectors that I just haven't bothered to yet. Water has gone from a non-issue, to an annoying non-issue (harvesting 27 dew collectors is a pain in the ass.)
  21. There are a lot of deer, but unlike wolves and bears they tend to run away, not at you. Honestly, the amount of meat you can get in A21 isn't really any different than A20, it's just not as dangerous to get. Admittedly, I get a bit annoyed trying to dodge chickens and rabbits on my motorcycle. I sideswiped a chicken with my rear tire the other day and it did 3% damage to my motorcycle.
  22. To be fair, they also increased the amount of cloth you get from scrapping stuff. I went through the Savage Country Superstore the other day, and came out with over 3200 cloth. I do wish they'd increase the yield from curtains/couches/etc. as well. There's almost no point to chopping them down anymore when they only give 2 cloth.
  23. So about half the amount I usually have in a box by day 21 (I wrench a lot...)
  24. Yep. It wasn't in the POI and summoned a bunch of ferals and rads that broke in towards the end of the POI. Even called in another screamer. I'd heard it earlier, and assumed I was hearing some kind of ambient audio, since I'd done nothing to summon a screamer, and it never saw me. Wasn't a big deal in the end, but it sure as heck confused me.
