Sniper Rifle is a decent short easy descriptive term for what it does. The issue comes into play in the real world when politicians grab these words to advance their political agenda by using more nefarious words to describe something in order to gain public sympathy (a la "Sniper Rifle" and incorrectly calling all black guns that look menacing "Assault Rifles"). I understand that it makes it easier for those who don't know much about guns to give them simple names, but if they are smart enough to figure out how to install and run a video game then they are smart enough to use correct verbage. Sniper rifles and assault rifles exist. The assault rifle in 7dtd is even a proper assault rifle, because you don't have to pull the trigger for every shot. The engagement of both sides of the guns rights issue is annoying, and I find dancing around these things when talking about implementations in a video game as a failed attempt at interjecting some political correctness. In general, I believe very strongly the issue is just another tool for politicians to divide the population. It's sometimes amusing and tragic. For example, when the right's response to banning assault weapons comes up. The left seem to think they can shame anyone that wants to keep guns around because they are designed to kill, specifically a lot of people. It's amusing to me because it's not an argument that anyone disagrees with, yet it's repeated often and publicized well. Gun rights activists overwhelmingly agree with that sentiment, and it's precisely why they want to keep them. They don't have any plans to do any killing, and most would not enjoy having to do it. However when the SHTF, they view it as their right/nay their duty/ to kill anyone that gets in the way of defending the country from enemies foreign or domestic. It's a real insight into the left's mentality (or I would say in some cases naivete), that this is not treated seriously. Unfortunately, things change and people forget how we got here in the first place. It doesn't seem acceptable to many that GRA are just more willing to make substantial sacrifices (or suggest different solutions) to ensure we keep constitutional protections in place to guard against the big ones.
