Invalid question. If someone asks me for a first aid kit, I can see why they need it. Not so in this situation. If someone calls and asks me how to fix a problem with their PC mouse (as I used to be in tech support), I ask them questions to determine whether it simply needs cleaning, unplugging and plugging back in, or replacing. Sometimes the best answer for a question is nothing like what the asker imagined it might be, because they aren't thinking "outside the box". For example: 1) Generating a map with denser cities, or a larger map, could reduce the problem of PoIs being "used up" quickly. 2) Looking at how others solved a problem, especially large servers like Salty Zombies who only regenerate certain sections of the map rather than the whole thing. So instead of being negative and criticizing a proper diagnostic solution to a tech problem, try and be a part of the solution. As an aside, I agree that there should be a way for the highways to be generated unbroken, which you might have seen if you follow this thread much since I posted such a request MONTHS ago. My solutions, and any that anyone else offers for that matter, are just workarounds until such a time as NitroGen gets this feature, if ever. Damocles .. will be updating soon or is waiting on A20 to come out, but he has not been online in some time now .. So hopefully he is doing OK. Make sure you are using 64-bit Java. P.S.: I use a custom start.bat which simply runs Java using 75% of my system RAM: java -Xmx12G -jar nitrogen.jar With it I can generate 16k * 16k maps, but 7dtd has problems with maps that large so I don't make them larger than 12k * 12k anymore. I had copied and pasted the CompoPack temporary workaround, but didn't install the actual prefabs. Really shouldn't try to mod stuff when I'm sleep-deprived. I had copied the WotW prefabs to the vanilla prefab folder to generate a map for that mod, and it had worked. Now I've deleted those POI's and re-added the vanilla prefabs to the prefab folder. (Even tried verifying the integrity of the files.) Now when I generate a map and spawn into the world, there are no POI's. I can't figure out why... Hi CriptycGirl Nitrogen has its prefablist.txt with the pois of the CompoPack and vanilla mixed in. I think it also has another prefablist.txt where it only has the vanilla pois, check it in its resources folder. You can still copy the list that EB64 gives you. If all the buildings are clustered in one corner of the map, it's a setting in NitroGen used for testing that you need to disable. I forget which setting it is, but I'm sure someone will come along who remembers and can tell you. Edit: It's under Advanced on the right, 7th setting down, named "scenario", selection "OCD world". Or if there are no PoIs on the map at all, it's gotten set to "no PoIs". Except it is out of date and missing the new PoIs from after CompoPack 43, which is at version 46 now. CompoPack 46 comes with an updated prefablist_CompoPack_46.txt specifically for NitroGen that includes all the CompoPack and vanilla PoIs. And don't forget to select the correct one in NitroGen, from the top right corner of the window under Advanced. From what I gather, not until Magoli comes back from whatever sort of break he is on. I've had success with NitroGen v0.501 and CompoPack 46 for 7dtd Alpha 19.1 b8 stable with the prefablist_CompoPack_46.txt from the CompoPack. No sunken buildings and no floating buildings yet on any of the four maps I have generated (select prefab list a19.1 cp 46), although I've had one house collapse due to structural integrity issues (loaded a save and reinforced some corners and it worked fine after) after I removed some kitchen appliances and bookshelves from the reinforced shelter under the house **shrug** and the large airport has some issues. If you just use the close box, you lose all the settings changes you made before clicking Generate World, and if you don't you have to wait until the program stops to fix whatever you noticed just after clicking generate. Is there a way to create a custom prefab list using the specific prefabs found in an overhaul mod, e.g. War3zuk or ExcitusXtreme? I've created a NitroGen map with CompoPack and used it in several War3zuk playthroughs, but it does not have the special versions of POIs that War3zuk has created for his mod. I know I can just make random gen maps through the game, but it take forever and I cannot customize city size, biomes, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And, please bear with me, if you can help, please "dumb it down hard" for an old foggy like me who is only barely computer literate. Thanks! Only issue I have now is some "ghosting" for buildings sometimes. I'll come to a mission target or sometimes even my base and there will be phantom blocks. Luckily, this is fixed by just backing out to the main menu and reloading. I'm assuming it's because I tweaked the speed of my motorcycle and now drive too fast for things to load properly. Is there a faster way besides reloading my save to fix this effect? EDIT: I, too, would like to request an option for an unbroken highway system. The game is just not able to load data on your vector front fast enough. That's probably why the vehicles are noticeably slower now. I've noticed the same problem happens with the gyrocopter when you are flying at low altitude. Anyone know if there is a way to do a poll post to see how many people would like unbroken highways? scallipus Posted November 15, 2020 Share Posted November 15, 2020 On 10/24/2020 at 10:05 PM, Tehnomaag said: what are the constraints on using your own heightmap? grayscale png? max 256 levels between full white and full black? compression or no compression? what I'm trying to achieve is rather rough terrain 8x8 km map with significant amount of water between mountain peaks, basically, what I would like to do would be just taking the already generated heightmap and increasing water level by +25m or +50m and then re-running the map-gen for building placement. how would I go about achieving that? when I tried editing the heightmap the Nitrogen refused to import it. the height maps I have done I tend to work in 24 bit grey scale, then before I output it for nitrogen I reduce it to 8 bit grey scale and clamp it between 24 and 180 or so, water is at 32 so everything typically below that is in water and everything above is land. Some tips if using DEM terrain data for your height maps, run a pixelate and then a couple of gaussian or median blur filters on the terrain - it will make it a lot more likely to be navigable. I had issues with some weird spiking occurring prior to running the blur filters and I found doing a slight pixelattion filter first actually helps a lot towards getting a an even better result from the median blur filter as for adjusting the water level - I have not found a way to do that only that nitrogen sets water at the grayscale level of 32. so if you want the effect of deeper water then you need to adjust the floor of your 'clamp' to suit the lowest level you want. In gimp this is done under colour management - adjust levels and in there you can set both input and output clamps for both floor and ceiling of the colour levels Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But every time i spawn into my created world I am spawning into Water. I have all the water settings set at low. I can see buildings in the background when i try to swim to them they turn to water. There are giant like cracks and waterfalls in the water as well that i can fall into then when i hit the bottom of the map i die. I have tried to respawn and re make the map. done it twice with the same effect. Am i missing anything? Edit - I think i might have moved things into the wrong folder so lets see if that changes anything. Edit 2- followed the Comp pac install video now i am not generating any maps. Edit 3- Restarted computer. Now generating maps.
