myrkana
Since nests now break when looted, how do we continue to get eggs into the late game? You cant count on them from boxes and therye used in some of the better foods.

Many nests also respawn at POI when you reset them for quests. I have never had problems getting enough eggs. And there are plenty of better foods that don't require eggs.

If you're using the feature that reloads the chunk if you've been gone for a while then the nests will refresh.

I'd rather them do what many overhauls do, they add them as drops when you butcher chickens, or have a workstation that lets you trade say, corn, for eggs/feathers over time at a chicken coop. I also do not trust that feature to not reset my base chunk if I am away from it for a while, yes I have a land claim down but I don't trust the coding for it. BFT2020
I don't recall eggs being required in foods above pies / bacon and eggs. Am I forgetting something? By mid game, you could be utilizing some of your canned foods for higher tier foods (looking at you chili dogs and fish tacos) and once you get up to the higher level of the cooking crafting tree, you have use for those cans of beef and lamb.
SylenThunder
I am pretty sure they respawn on their own outside of the chunk reset feature. It is most likely tied to the loot respawn mechanic.
Ramethzer0
Though not tested it fully, I have noticed that when I have huntsman perked I seem to get more eggs per nest too.

Along with looted nests going poof, a nice feature.
warmer
Chickens have been a mystery since I started playing. The most obvious thing to do is catch them by hand and then throw them in a bar cage they can't get out of. What we need is make it so placing a chicken in a enclosed pen (bars or something similar,) they will spawn a nest once a day which has a chance to spawn feathers/egg. Leaving that egg in the nest for 3 days should spawn a chicken. I think to make this work properly and simply you would need a "pen" type land claim block and then building your fence in the borders, making the pen land claim the area of possible random nest spawn. I mean how else are these chickens showing up? lol This seems like a fairly realistic use case in the scenario we find ourselves in and isn't over powered in my opinion. You could even make it possible to do this inside or on a roof so long as you had dirt or "farm plots" to at least grow grass. Just make some vegetation required so you would need to import dirt/farm plots into the wasteland/desert/snow
Javabean867
I believe Rekt sells eggs, and they are not expensive.

Euzio
Eggs typically have never been a problem. Tons of nests all over the world. And lots of POIs do have nests within as well that respawn when quests reset them. Also, towards the late game, especially when access to a gyro is available, you could make a circuit through all the traders that you've discovered and just buy the eggs. They aren't expensive and quite often, traders do carry them. Rekt is the go to guy for lots as he usually has quite a number of them for sale being the food trader.
