azmothman
So I am playing Alpha 17.1, with Navesagane and have a question. Simply the annoying screamer is literally showing up to my base that I am trying to build every 10-15 minutes. How can I set the time higher? Katitof
You can turn off forge, cement mixer, chem station and fire pit for starters, because that is what is drawing them most.

AtomicUs5000
or perhaps an excessive amount of torches.
Ghostlight
Every 15 minutes is like 4 a day?? Meh.
Royal Deluxe
Let me guess 2 Forges 2-6 Torches ?
lord_ahriman
I don’t get enough of them.... Day 71 here, I still need to see a screamer.
Royal Deluxe
There are spots if you build a base you will never see a screamer. The "Normal" is arround 1 Screamer per 60 minute day per forge

Ttocs
Yep turn off heat is the norm. But i was out mining away from my base and all heat sources with my auger and they kept showing up, didnt realise auger mining attracted them thought it was heat exclusively, was a nice surprise but the novelty wore off lol. Note i was in a big hole not enclosed deep down dont know if that makes a difference but this is a new one for me (A17.0)
Aurelius
"Heat" isn't temperature - it's a reference to how much zombie attention you are generating. Campfires, forges, torches, cement mixers, sound (augers, chainsaws, guns, tree chopping, etc) and I *think* workbenches and table saws all contribute to increasing this value. -A
AtomicUs5000
Jumping increases the value, lol

If you ignite 20 Forges on ground level and you have no screamer in 7 days you can be sure
azmothman
Well thanks for all of the replies. Technically speaking we took over the Journey End poi in Navesagane and literally have not built any forges, or stations yet so either it's the torches or the POI itself. Royal Deluxe
Its outdated, but gives a rough idea how heat works https://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/Heatmap
ghettochild2600
I am noticing this too and also made a thread about it. Screamers can spawn other screamers now and some people claim to almost never see screamers. https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?106641-What-s-with-all-the-screamers&p=934316#post934316
azmothman
Yeah it seems some algorithm got changed as even with zero heat sources the screamers are extremely frequent. I like the screamers but it's like damn as it restricts what we can do with the influx. I have even tried setting the serverconfig.xml to the lowest difficulty and the number of Zombies but it seems like wherever we go there are a ton of zombies and screamers. ghettochild2600
I was able to gather up 5 screamers and killed probably about 70 zombies until they stopped spawning. They stopped screaming after that.
beHypE
The frequency is probably a bit over the top to be honest. On day 10 with 2 friends of mine doing random stuff around, with 1 forge running and around 10 torches, we get screamers "constantly", around every 10 minutes i'd say, maybe even more. It's not that those hordes are difficult to deal with but it feels more like a chore than it does feel like a challenge / event. It should probably be tweaked a bit to either : - trigger less often with "early game setups" - trigger less often overall but with added difficulty I understand the concept of heat and it's quite a good idea actually, but it would be better if it truly was a "uhoh moment" where you have to put aside what you were doing and quickly switch gears to be ready for a big fight, rather than being an endless small stream of annoyance.
