Cool idea. Stuff like this gives the player something unique to discover, a break in the usual pattern of procedural randomness.

 

More of this please

 

More along the lines of finishing stuff we've planned for years, to have some side quests at all these specific themed POIs where it looks like something strange has gone on there, and you get to uncover what happened and gain a special item. Like Carl's corn, Fates motel, etc all have a story to tell yet.

Cool! Hang on...so, if something that was already in content lock is being redesigned, can that mean the other 70 odd bugs are also redesigns like 'redesign water for boats', 'redesign food for spoilage', 'rejig the world for 16k'? Lol

 

He was on the roadmap, those things are not.

I wasn't really suggesting to make it animated (like drawbridges), I had another thing in mind, blinds being 2 blocks high, like when you press "E" to "use" them, the bottom part would disappear in order to simulate that I rolled them up and only the top part remains and when use them again, the bottom part appears again.

 

At least make some craftable window blinds, since you already got a blind model in the game and make it be pickable just like wood frames, so I can take them or put them whenever I want, wherever I want.

 

I got nothing against it, it was a simple question. If that is what you think it's best, then so be it, go for it. I'm not going to be butthurt or mad like a lot of people here on this forum, but at least think about my suggestion, it was my fault that I wasn't too specific about how they work. You don't even have to do it for A18 either...it can be A18.1, A19 maybe...

 

I am stating the technical restrictions of the engine and doing anything animated requires a draw call, bones, tile entity etc and those things are quite expensive, and we cannot allow players to craft them and and place them in abundance. One little window blind you can open/close is as expensive as a huge draw bridge.

LOL! All jokes aside, this feature I'm talking about is for a post-gold DLC of something like that. I prefer bandits, legendary items and yes...trains too.

 

I'm not against the idea because of developer resources, I'm against the idea for the same reason I am against the trader being such a central piece of the game (especially in A16) and crafting being able to supply you with almost everything you need (especially in A17).

 

If money gets you everything it doen't matter anymore what you find, any item (except for crafting material) is just representing a value, i.e. what you get by selling it. Ideally any item should be either relatively useless or valuable to you based on your circumstances, i.e. what you need at the moment. You need plastic at the moment? You look for buildings where you might find plastic. Next day you need leather and you look for a cinema ...

Gambling is not the CORE of the game, Fifa can't have guns, that would affect the core of the game.

 

Anyways, now I want 7daystodie Battle Royale. And you can't stop me.

 

Well, 99 other players can stop you but it would be too late.

I don't want to be the guy criticizing something he hasn't even tested yet but doesn't that seem a bit low ? 40 hours into a single playthrough is quite some time, if you have hardly any books by that time do you consider buffing their loot % or the number of book cases in the world ?

 

All in all it's amazing to know that finding a crack-a-book will be that "YAY !" moment again like it used to be.

 

I checked my character. I have about 2 books in each group on average. I'm not changing it because my agility guy found loads. I got a bad roll and the POIs I've been to are not book bearing POIs.. One game I wanted to nerf it, this one I wanted to boost it. That means its perfect.

 

Like my other game had this one mansion, that had at least 6 book cases in it. I cleared it out, then went outside and started the quest, resetting the POI and double dipped. Trader sent me to the same place... so muahahaahah 24 book cases to loot.

So I finally built a gyrocopter. And decided to try something. It took over one hundred attempts, but I kind of finally got it.

 

Finally landed my gyrocopter on the supply plane. But couldn't do anything.

Epic amounts of silliness.

This is the reason I won't touch Navezgane with a 10 foot pole before 1.0. Sadly my power of observation is at about 1 milliWatt, I will probably miss half the story references.

Yes Augers and chainsaws are considered top tier and should be balanced as such. I have a green auger and can get 3500 rocks with 2 lode and 3 miner (I think) in maybe 2 game hours. I have a steel pick that is pretty nice, but I only use it when my gas supply is low.

I think it makes 18 book cases (the second time you came to the empty house). Or you meant the trader sent you to the same type house (but in different place)?

Just to be clear. You mean we are getting a drop nothing on death option in alpha 18 sp? There is no sp option in alpha 17.

 

Well damn. You have shamed me out of using drop nothing on death. I cant have Madmole looking down on me like that lol.

 

Only reason I really want it is for my Sunday stream. I have a thing where people can donate bits to force me to spawn nasty zombies on me. I die alot in that series lol. Would be nothing but bag runs rofl

In A17 augers are not as good as they were in A16. Without the appropriate mods and the perks they are slow and you can only use them deep down if you don't want to have screamers all the time.

 

This is not true unless you are some weirdo who augers for hours at a time. I've never triggered a screamer with one yet. And when I do (only at my base so far with a campfire, chem station and 2 forges running for 20+ minutes) its just free XP farming. My AK is amazing so its like whatever, one for you, one for you, oh two for you, one for you, etc.

Seriously though, I would love seeing legendary weapons that are easter eggs from various movies and games. I also love the idea of having to find a trigger item and complete an event to acquire the item.

 

The only requirement I would have for any of Ash's guns would be that they would have to have vastly unrealistic ammo capacity lol, it would be the only way to do it right hahaha.

 

Also, since you have been liking the brawler play style with fist weapons you should also include his medieval power fist that they made for him to replace the hand he chopped off! That would be an awesome fist weapon! It could even have a higher chance to pop heads or amputate limbs!

It's always been in, but as a hidden option, i.e. not on the menu's but you could manually put "4" in the serverconfig.xml file.

This is 200% absolute immersion killing aspect for ALL players. (Except console). TFP needs to get this fixed right now. Divert all resources. Before A18 is released.

 

Or is it becasue this is the secret ending?

He's talking about a block swap, not a TE. Have a "open just enough to peek" version, a "fully rolled up version", etc... so that way it's just more blocks. Then when you want to "use" it, all you're REALLY doing is the old "if item is hand blockswap through the different versions of blinds as you click" routine, kind of like how you "get" water.

 

(p.s. I don't give a hoot about this option, just explaining what he is looking for)

Now: the main problem, in that video, is that people are actively being encouraged to spend real-life money on microtransactions, by deliberately encouraging what is essentially gambling addiction. And the suggestion here did not include real money. That is definitely a big difference.

 

Having said that - what would gambling mechanics even add to this game, really? And if it adds little to nothing - why even add something that could even be associated with gambling mechanics that are more predatory? All you're doing is encouraging gambling, even if not for real money. Is that worth it?

 

(Of course, there's also the slippery slope argument - "people are already gambling in-game, so why not give them the opportunity to buy Duke's Casino Coins if they want?" I'd like to think TFP are smarter than that - but that may not have been stated by TFP, but some other developer trying to justify their own predatory gambling mechanics... like Rockstar. I don't want to add credibility to that argument.)

 

I'll stick with my opinion that it's a bad idea. I won't stop playing the game if gambling is in it, I just don't think it's worth it. Especially when there are so many other things that have already been requested, that would definitely make the game more fun, and development time should be spent on those.

 

My point is that something is going to "trigger" someone somewhere, so if they try to account for every instance of that, we're going to load the game to a blank screen.

 

...and then trigger people with agoraphobia. Damn, they just can't win! =)

 

It's like an alcoholic in a bar. Should the bartender stop selling as he passes through? Nope. =)

I can 100% guarentee you i have no option to drop nothing on death in my sp alpha 17 world.

Augers raise heat when, only only when, you press the button. If you hold it down all the time, no screamers. It's when people tap it they get screamers. This was told to me. So I hold the button and never get screamers.

I recently conducted a couple of tests to prove this, and the results were what I expected. I used the auger for fifteen minutes, holding the button down, and I got zero screamers during that time. I continued using the auger for another fifteen minutes, tapping the button constantly, and over the course of fifteen minutes, I got interrupted by two screamers.

 

Now, holding down the button still causes a small amount of heat, but it's nowhere near as bad vs if you were tapping the button. I suspect that roughly after the 1 hour mark, if you're holding the button down, you might get a screamer, but on average, I don't see anyone mining for that long.

Works the same for any automatic weapon, I think it is a short coming of sounds adding heat, it triggers at the sound start but the repeat sounds seemingly not. Perhaps Madmole can put this on the MF (Maybe Fix) list.
