I wouldn't go as far as saying that you got us that. It was in the plan for a long time.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Don't tell them! Just because we know doesn't mean we have to tell the others.

Just let me have this, even if we both know I influenced this addition as much as 33% steamreviews influenced MMs opinion of LBD :D (sorry ^^)

All of this perfectly reflects my gripes with A17... but, I would also like to add the dungeon POI's to the list. It's OK to have them, maybe for those top tier places that give the good/best loot, but not for every single one POI there is.

I have to agree, I always found it odd how a simple two story house turns into a dungeon with 8 or 9 zombies stuffed into closets at every little turn. Compared to going into a skyscraper that has multiple levels which you have to climb to get to the top. I always felt that dungeon POI's should be reserved for more challenging quests or if you want to gamble for a big reward, not walking to the house next door and wondering if you walked into the late stages of a zombie rave party during the night.

In recent playthroughs, I have been searching for the 'original dungeon POIs', like the tall Crack-a-book, Higurashi, Dishong, and the construction tower. These were the places that had more loot and more difficulty. Now in A17, they are worthless compared to a 2 story victorian. Less loot than a 2 story house and they actually went through the effort to rework them entirely? I would rather remove them from RWG instead.

Alpha 17

Starting this forum post I feel I should preface this: I am not a hardcore gamer, I am not a developer, nor a modder. I'm just one guy who has a sense of what he likes and what he doesn't like. I purchased 7D2D Back in April of 2014 and have played it on and off, back when the the pistol was more of a low-poly placeholder instead of the M9 render it is now. I jumped back into the current 17.4 Stable release after dropping out of the 16.8 (I think) from 2017. I've seen enough and done enough to have a solid idea of the content available in the game.

Hence my question, and while I understand it's still an Early Access game and still in Alpha: Why the sudden reduction in content?

Now, I know how it sounds, but hear me out. Back in the series-16 release, I could build a dirt bike and drive for what seemed like hours, watching buildings, trees, debris, and the local riff-raff pass me by from the fog, never really caring where I was driving to so long as I knew that there was always somewhere to go. I could see multi-story hospitals, decrepit shacks, tents in the desert, military barracks in the snow, gas stations on the deserted streets.

I could build complex lighting systems. I could tweak the options of my world to be as barren as a dying mall or as full as Walmart on Black Friday. I could know full well my gaming rig wouldn't pop a processor because the occluding fog kept the draw distance low enough to ensure at least 30 frames per second. I could do so much, and still can, but I feel that although it is an Alpha, 17 took a step back.

I mean, I still like the game, and I will continue to play it, but this, as well as the fact that the game map is now painfully small with multiple smaller biomes... well, I feel I want to hear the reason for it, if any. I mean, shouldn't there be an option (at least) to have single-biome worlds in the game? Yes, I realize it takes place in Navezgane, Arizona, and as a resident of the same state I would imagine that should a zombie apocalypse happen (heaven forbid), I could walk through my own destroyed wasteland of a city as buildings came down around me just as easily as I could walking around north of Flaggstaff or even Globe when it was snowing.

I would just like the option to build a variety of different base styles that could comfortably combat the bm horde. I understand all the changes and why and how difficult it may be to actually work out.

But for a SP only player who builds all in one and who does care about the aesthetics , building , full modded farms , practical mines and work station with practical living quarters.I simply HAVE to do a killing corridor, with everything surrounded by a r concrete wall 6 blocks high , else, it will be gone before it’s completed construction.

I enjoy the game by scavenging what I can from day 1 and building from scratch as I go. Yes , there are ways to play different than how I like to play and no, everyone cannot be accommodated.

But having only 1 true option to safely combat consistent hordes is not right imho. You can play max difficulty settings from day 1 and scavenge out a barebones Corridor from wood by day 1 and that’s it , you have won. anything else is a waste of time to build

If this thread is" irrelevant", why has it run to 74 pages? Yes i get the implication that 18 will kill the concerns we have. Trouble being there was the same confidence about 17!

People talking about terrible changes in a game they love should set alarm bells ringing, not be dismissed as "irrelevant" and please dont trot out the "new players dont have that problem" line, it was built on quicksand and is sinking rapidly.

The devs have made changes that drastically altered gameplay, much to the detriment of the game.

Crowing about changes we havent seen yet could leave you with the worst case of foot in mouth for years!

If 18 is a step back in the right direction I shall gladly eat my words, hopefully you will do the same should the reverse be true!

A18 does address a lot fo these concerns, so yeah I would agree this thread will be made irrelevant.

imo A18 looks like it'll bring back the glory days of A16, just sayin'.

It’s not completely irrelevant yet but it soon will be. It’s partially irrelevant now because so many posts are complaints about things that were true at 17.0 and 17.1 but have not been true since 17.4. It’s obvious when someone is complaining about what they think are current issues but you can tell they haven’t actually played the current game.

Those types of posts are irrelevant and there are a lot of them in this thread.

Once A18 comes out there will be a new thread for A18 feedback where people can continue to voice their concerns in a more relevant way making this thread completely irrelevant. This thread might be 74 pages but will any of it be worth reading in a few weeks? I say nope. The new thread will be where it’s at.

See? Nobody will be silenced. This thread will be done and history and a new thread will take its place and hopefully when people comment with feedback it will be about the most current relevant build.

Ah yes, another grab your torch and whine thread. It's like complaining about A peanut butter and jelly sandwich tasting horrible...before the bread has even gone in the oven, before the jelly has finished setting, and the peanut butter isn't even mixed.

1. ALPHA - This game isn't even in Beta yet. We are testers, bug finders, and advice givers. This isn't a No Man's Sky game where it was released as "a game" before it was complete. It has been clearly defined as being in Alpha, we didn't pay $60 for the game because the developers have clearly stated it. Get over it.

2. The game has been more than playable for years now with no bug (at least that I have experienced) that has forced me to just set it aside in disgust. Don't like what it is? Put it down and wait for it to show up as being "Gold". Until then, consider it a pre-release on sale. Then go about your whining when it is a complete game.

3. Get a better rig to handle the game that hasn't been optimized yet. Grab one of the hundreds of free community mods, or just tweak the unlocked XML files to tweak it to your liking. I have been playing on 16K maps filled with cities, tons of variety, all the variety of buildings (overwhelming at times) a group of 16 people could handle without having explored half the map.

This thread isn't going to be irrelevant when A18 comes out. It already is irrelevant.

Roland.

Your face is irrelevant.

That is all.

That's what they told me at the Ugly Like Guppy convention. I only went for the chocolate chip cookies rumored to be there. Alas, only homemade snicker bars which I've learned never to touch.

You're joking around way too much. That's no way for a moderator to act. A good mod is like the terminator:

Listen, and understand! That Moderator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until the forum rules are enforced!
