Winter Project 2018

Frozen in time from a Christmas in the past, enter into our winter post-apocalyptic world and test your survival and exploring skills as the frozen denizens reject your very existence.

In addition to including SDX elements, this mod features modlets from Red Eagle LXIX and stedman420 to flesh out the UIs a bit. With help from Hal9000, the snow has been overhauled so we are now in a lag-reduced world, even with the 4K texture pack.

A special thanks goes out to Sirillion who made us custom elements in the main menu, as well as Mumpfy for his creativeness in re-skinning our zombies.

[ -= INSTALLATION =- ]

Manual Installation of Winter Project A17:

  1. Make a copy of Alpha 17.1
  2. Download and extract https://gitlab.com/Sphereii-mentals/winterproject-2018/-/archive/master/winterproject-2018-master.zip
  3. Copy unzipped files into the copy of the 7 Days to Die

7D2D Mod Launcher:

Multiple versions are available under the Sphereii-mental section of the Mod Launcher:

  • Winter Project A17 - Standard edition
  • Winter Project A17 2K Texture: Features DUST2DEATH's block re-texture in 2K format.
  • Winter Project A17 4K Texture: Features DUST2DEATH's block re-texture in 4K format.

If you do not see this, please upgrade your Mod Launcher by uninstalling the existing one ( Add / Remove Programs ), and installing from: https://7d2dmodlauncher.github.io/Installer/publish/

Notes:

Please keep in mind that this is a sphereii-mental mod from sphereii and xyth, and as such we do not burden the players with an excessive amount of information, but is left for them to discover.

The goal of these mods are proof of concepts. There are new elements in this mod that will be of particular interest to modders to expand and build upon.

While not 100% polished, the Winter Project is a beautiful world to explore.

Sounds like you are missing some DLLs. You don't need to compile this, however, as its already included. Its looking for a System.Xml.Linq namespace which it can't find on your system.

Can I just start the game and play?

Yes you can :) You can ignore the SDX0.7.3 folder.

how does biome ore generation work in relation to vanilla, as in oil in desert, lead in forest etc etc...

None of that was touched. Surface resources were cleared, but the biomes and their undergrounds are still there. Just have to dig a bit.

Nice job on this project guys. I'm only a couple of hours in but I'm having a blast.

Santa must be extremely busy this year, I think I interrupted him cloning himself :smile-new:

Why don't these animals have ice shields, and all other animals have ice shields

It was supposed to be for dead things only, simulating a frost falling off something colder than the air. Guess we missed the dogs and the vulture though.

That fixed it. Thanks!

Looks like there are some issues with OpenGL renderer thou. Trees are black, some textures are pink.

Yes, apparently OpenGL has no love for some custom shaders. Will look into a fix.
