  1. I'm 43. My first gaming experience was an Atari 2600 and my first console that I owned was an NES that I mowed lawns all summer for because we were poor and that was the only way I was ever seeing one. They were the same price as consoles are today. In 1987.
  2. I honestly haven't had too much of an issue with that. I did have a bit of trouble finding a crucible but Trader Rekt had one in his secret stash for me. I was rolling in dukes at that point from running quests so the 11kish didn't even make me blink. I'm on day 75 (took a few weeks break to check some other games out) and I have all the workstations and workstation tools to go in them. My main issue with this Alpha is being on day 75 and feeling like I'm on day 20 still. If it wasn't for quest rewards I wouldn't have any good gear at all because I'm just not getting anything but double barrel shotguns and pipe rifles out in the wild. Which is a shame because I have more ammo than I can shoot before the Reaper catches me finally.
  3. I guess it depends on what you consider a weapon to be. I carry a hunting knife/machete but rarely kill anything with it, its for skinning game. My usual loadout is a stone axe for hitting things I don't want to lose durability on my weapons for, my primary melee, a game rifle and a shotgun or machine gun. The rest is bandages, one of each tool and a stack of wood frames for nerdpoles or quick catwalks.
  4. So you' prefer players to maybe never get a Q6 version of the weapons and armor they're specced into? Sounds absolutely frustrating to me. Not trying to bust your balls here but this Alpha is one of the worst I've played and the new RNG is a big reason for it. Simply put: I'm having less fun. It seems like the loot tables have been spread out over a larger range of loot/gamestages and that completely changes progression for a solo player like myself. More gates only serve to shut people out.
  5. I pretty much just disable horde night and I don't care if that makes me a scrub. I play solo and horde nights just leave me in an endless cycle of rebuild, get trashed, rebuild. Not fun for me.
  6. I'll say. I got a Screamer for the first time ever in my singleplayer game. I didn't think they could spawn.
  7. Spears are a little lackluster against unarmored zeds (a level 2 stone Spear is worse damage-wise than a level 1 Wooden Club) but make up for it against harder targets with the 15% penetration. That used to be granted by the Penetrator perk but Spears were taken off it and just given the bonus directly in A20.
  8. It's extremely random. Started an 8k world and got directed to a Trader Rekt. Looting his workbench and chem station got me the plans for both. I deleted that save in horror because nothing else good was going to happen.
  9. The spear power attack and that completion bonus work best with a weighted head mod in the spear.
  10. Sounds like something for a newbie guide, yeah?
  11. You can throw rocks from the hotbar and distract zombies.
  12. The new roadmarkings are all separate blocks now. We actually have them in the new block menus to pick from too. Just chop them up if you want to build on the road. Although I do see how that would be annoying.
  13. I feel this is a valid issue. It almost feels like a noob trap in that trying to save time by making concrete blocks actually slows down your experience vs starting with a lesser tier and going the upgrade path.
  14. Sadly I meant to type duct tape and still typed duck tape.
  15. I could respond several ways here but I won't. I've reached my daily allotment of tomfoolery, chicanery and shenanigans and it's only 3:13pm.
  16. The weapon bonuses are applied to the weapons as far as I know. Bare fists probably aren't flagged for the Brawler bonuses.
  17. I have a few small things I'd really like to see get added for improvements as well: navy beans a hobo stove to better represent how we use campfires usable shopping carts that we can push around town more colors of duck tape. There's at least 20 different colors and patterns available at the hardware store but we only have one? add the suicide effect of glass to acid bottles wrenching an acid barrel should give us a 2% chance to turn into a Batman villain zip lines and grapnels so I can turn into Batman and PvP people who wrench acid barrels more dances added to the emote menu an emote menu edible glue that you can make the glue fingerprints with fishing (Seriously. Every game has fishing but this one)
  18. @Grimly It's a Steam setting. Steam->Settings-> Ingame and its the first group of checkboxes. That disables the onscreen keyboard. I have it disabled so I'm not getting the keyboard pop up. You should bug report it though because the map window is definitely giving focus to the waypoint searchbox causing it to call for the onscreen keyboard.
  19. I have that happening too. I don't lose focus to the text input box though, I get a red message on my screen that says Steam must be started in Big Picture mode in order to use the onscreen keyboard. It's still annoying and wasn't happening in A19.
  20. I've been doing T4 quests and so far the furthest away its sent me is 1.7km which was a Red Mesa facility. I have about 4 cities inside that distance though so I've been going all over the place. The new Shotgun Messiah Store with the close encounters speed range is awesome.
  21. I was going to bring Minecraft up too. We need to apply their approach to kids. Just make the zombies all have 1m tall versions of themselves that spawn at 2% or something. Now that would be scary.
  22. I've thousands of hours in Fallout76 and as far as I'm concerned as of A20 we've gotten one of the best features from it.
  23. About the rabbit attack thing: I'll pass. I can barely stand to shoot one in game now because of the scream they make. Killing a bunch at once doesn't make it better. Proof:
