  1. If this line of reasoning is helping you not get your hopes up too far then by all means go ahead and continue for yourself, but at this point, crossplay is a done deal and the level of optimization needed to get the PC and console versions equivalent has already been done. They didn't announce crossplay when the entire possible future of it was in jeopardy of being shut down or blocked by Sony or Microsoft. They announced it once they were sure it could be done on both the technical side and the bureaucratic side. This is what they've stated about crossplay: Crossplay between PC and Consoles is planned. It may not be ready for PC Alpha22/Console Version 1 but for sure it will be ready for the gold release. Console gamers will be able to play on dedicated servers along with PC gamers. By contrast, this is what they've announced about the old console version and a credit program: We would like to be able to update the original console version to this new version but no promises that it is possible. We would also like to offer a credit program of some kind for those who purchased the original console version but it will be up to Sony and Microsoft with their store policies and their ability to implement and track such a program. There's a big difference there. I'd say that crossplay is 100% whereas updating the original game and/or offering a credit is what is firmly in the land of maybe and probably not.
  2. From the player's perspective, updating existing animals isn't new because they are still playing with the same animals. From the dev perspective, updating existing animals is new since what is in the code now was not what was in the code before. (Think of how the devs see infested quests as new quests....) That being said, I'm pretty sure the new pig is not replacing the boar but I'm not 100% sure and the artist who is updating the animals did additional animals on his own time which he said could be used for this game or maybe a future game. So speculation is definitely viable as there may end up being (player perspective) new animals while there definitely will be (dev perspective) new animals.
  3. Go up one level in this section and you will see threads pinned below this one that contain what you seek.
  4. You're assuming they plan to start the approval process after they have all the coding completed when it is far more likely that they started those things concurrently or even got the approval squared away before they put work into something that wasn't going to be approved. Crossplay isn't going to be denied by Sony or Microsoft anyway. Putting that out there is just crazy talk. It ain't going to be like bandits until it has been delayed for 12 alphas since it was first introduced in some basic form. We haven't even gotten to the first potential delay yet...
  5. I don't know the timeline exactly of when crossplay will be enabled. I only know that they are working on it and it is a planned feature. Whether it is ready on day one of PC Alpha 22/ Console Version 1 remains to be seen. I do know that there won't be split-screen functionality at all. That question came up a lot at Twitchcon and TFP was adamant that it would not be happening despite the obvious disappointment that it generated.
  6. There will be no split-screen functionality for the console version. The console version is going to be the same as the PC version. You will be able to cross-play with PC players and other console players but you won't be able to play side-by-side on the couch with a buddy split screen just like PC players can't. The 2016 console version had split-screen but couldn't join dedicated online servers. The new version will reverse that. I guess we just can't ever have it all.
  7. You can also start using a different trader and get him or her built up to higher tier quests. You'd have to set up a secondary base nearby, of course, since that would probably negate the undesirable travel piece of it all.
  8. TFP is using fowl play making it only a twitch integration thing and not a possible special random event thing for everyone!!
  9. I'm ready for the trials now, Master! The council agrees. I've trained for 10 years. I'm ready.
  10. I thought that is what rainstorms do...
  11. I have to admit that from about Alpha 13 until now I never harvested cotton at all and now I do again. <shrug> (I still throw out cotton seeds)
  12. You have to stand a bit in the water, look at the water, have an empty hand equipped and press E when you literally see the message appear on your screen that tells you to press E. Punching and crouching and jumping are not needed or helpful. I hope that helps you with your….um….drinking problem.
  13. THIS is where you draw the line?!?!
  14. Fun 1) enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure 2) amusing, entertaining, or enjoyable 3) building dew collectors and searching for magazines 4) a joke or lighthearted tease I mean it is right there plainly defined by the dictionary!
  15. The Zombies of Penzance? ChatGPT came through! (Verse 1) Oh, we are the Zombie orphans of Penzance, lost souls of the night, In the world of 7 Days to Die, where there's no end in sight. No families to call our own, no homes where we reside, Just a band of forsaken souls, in the darkness, we confide. (Chorus) The Zombie orphans of Penzance, we roam the land so free, In a post-apocalyptic world, where the living fear to be. With rotting limbs and vacant stares, we march in endless trance, Oh, we are the Zombie orphans of Penzance! (Verse 2) Abandoned and forsaken, in this desolate terrain, No love, no warmth, no tender care, only hunger, fear, and pain. We may be undead, but we yearn for a family's sweet embrace, In this eternal night, we seek a more compassionate place. (Chorus) (Verse 3) In the ruins of Penzance, we found each other's kin, Our hearts may not beat, but they are capable of feeling within. Together we'll endure, in this world so dark and bleak, As the Zombie orphans of Penzance, our bond is what we seek. (Chorus)
  16. You’re correct that strict realism isn’t their goal so there will be design choices that gloss over the details or represent things abstractly or just ignore things altogether. You might benefit from finding a modder whose goal is strict realism as the changes they make to the game will probably sync with what you are wanting as well.
  17. Just to bring balance to all the blah blah...A16 .....blah blah A16 blah blah
  18. Lol…it’s a much greater stretch to try and say that the numbers don’t mean exactly what they indicate. It’s the sign of someone who dislikes the current game state hoping that the majority dislikes it too. You’re taking objectively impressive and good stats and trying to come up with reasons they don’t mean anything good. I don’t have to make up scenarios about what might be going on to make them good to say they are good. I just have to look at them and see what they say. It’s always good to take a look and consider where weakness should be improved but it’s another to spin great stats to be a negative. I think that it is much more likely that the majority of players actually do enjoy A21 and those who don’t are being very loud and repetitious but are actually the minority. That’s what the numbers mean if taken at face value and without adding any spicy speculations about what might really be going on….
  19. I've stated before that in my opinion there needs to be two separate AI settings. One for horde night where a longer AI update rate is good to keep things more random and unpredictable and then another setting for everyday interactions where the AI is more like A17 where they are perfectly focused on the player and keep coming at you relentlessly as you explore POIs. The A17 AI was too predictable and manipulatable during the tower defense aspect of horde night but it was super fun when dealing with zombies in smaller doses within POIs.
  20. 9 Billion Dollars Matt. The only reason more powerful companies would copy the gameplay and "defeat" the game is because it becomes wildly popular and makes gobs and gobs of money. So yes the game could get ripped off by other companies and the market could get flooded by clones but how is that defeat? That is Success with a multi-billion dollar royalty attached. PUBG might be yesterday's news and on the decline due to all the competition that eventually jumped on its bandwagon but so what? The devs certainly expected that the game would eventually run its course. They know that the huge past popularity will fuel the future fervor for a PUBG2. No, I don't agree that winding up like PUBG is any kind of failure that Illogica/ TFP is risking by putting out Bloodmoons. To end up like PUBG Bloodmoons will have to first reach the kind of popularity that causes AAA studio execs to take notice and push resources into making a clone. By that time it will already count as a win no matter what happens in the end.
  21. So TFP’s game might end up like PUBG due to everyone copying their gameplay and that makes it high risk? PUBG has made 9 billion dollars so if that is your idea of the downside of a risky venture then they should definitely go for it….lol.
  22. They said there would be more news starting in 2024 so it would make sense if they aren't talking about it here in 2023: Stay tuned for more infos in 2024!
  23. Twitchcon was the first announcement of something coming soon within the 7 Days to Die universe but that's all they want to do right now is simply tease it. More info will definitely be coming when it is time but right now there isn't really enough that they desire to release for information to really discuss. It's fine for people to slowly find out about it at this time since it is still not ready to be released. There are a lot of assumptions and speculations about what the game will be like but nothing substantive has been revealed on any media platform. If you desire to be among the first to know anything then you should subscribe to the new TFP club on the bloodmoons website. Do that and you won't have to hear about new developments later by accident reading posts of people who already found out. Can't find the link at the moment as I'm going out the door so maybe someone else can share it.
  24. I'm well aware of the tagline to the title of the game. In my opinion, this game is still just as much survival and crafting and horde as it ever has been. It is easy for players to stretch those things out of proportion via min/maxing behavior but the game absolutely does not have to be played that way outside of competitive PvP public servers. Even if someone feels like looting is a requirement during the early game that definitely tapers off as the game goes on and more time can be spent doing other activities so that an entire playthrough taken as a whole is still very much a mix of everything it has always been. I'm not the type to want to start a petition and start litigation if the final game doesn't exactly deliver survival, crafting, and hordes in equal measure and as the top three main pillars of the game. That's why I didn't mention survival explicitly in my meme. All of those components mentioned are part of and contribute to survival anyway. My point is that while it says survival horde crafting game, in reality the game is a mix of many activities and some specific activities will dominate in importance at different phases of a playthrough and some specific activities can be ignored while others cannot be ignored but they all contribute to surviving against the horde of zombies. I think you'd be surprised at how many people love the OP trader rewards. WE know they kill the crafting game but that's because most users of this forum value crafting as the preferred method of attaining our own gear. They could force the nerf and do some other things to throttle down the significance of questing in this game and there will be a @%$#storm about it from all the people who love A21 and "never asked the pimps to overhaul questing in such an idiotic and unrealistic fashion obviously trying to lengthen the game in a hamfisted artificial manner..." Seems to me to be a perfect situation for some options so that those who love the current balance and prefer earning rewards and trading for top gear to crafting it themselves can still have what they want. If TFP just makes the change I'll be happy with it but there will be some who will call TFP anti-player or some such nonsense...
