Sphereii, congrats for the amazing job.

But I have an issue: My launcher isnt downloading the Darkness Falls files. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

Sorry for the trouble. Can you try again, and press the Pre-sync button. Once that is done, click on the Log Files button, then Uplaod Log File. Give me the pastebin.com link and I'll see what's up.

Updated modlauncher to 2.0.42.35280 and got an exception in launching game under My Mods (no mods installed):

Access to the path 'Saves\My Mods\New A17 Start' is denied.

Additional app log...

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

Edit: No idea why but modlauncher is picking up the same path twice, I only have one Steam install location - https://i.imgur.com/SqrkwVt.png

I just updated to the same version (edit: 2.0.42.35280) and I too can't get my modded games to launch. Keep getting the same kind of error... "Access to the path 'Saves\Darkness Falls\Darkness Falls' is denied."

I've reinstalled Alpha 17, ModLauncher, and Darknesss Falls all clean but that was of no help. As my C: is limited for space, I have my Steam library on D: and set the ModLauncher to use D:\Mods\7D2D\Alpha17 folder as well. The ModLauncher seems incapable of remembering this and I have to re-enter it every time (the ModLauncher for Alpha16 only versions had no issue with remembering my install location).

Tried with "Save All Games Local to Mod" checked and unchecked... same error either way.

Tried using the default mod location of "C:\7D2D\Alpha17"... again same error with or without local save checked.

Tried selecting and playing mod from splash screen (just play without hitting go to first), get a "mod is not downloaded yet, download now", launcher locks up completely whether I select yes or no.

Can't get Insert Image to work but the error on lockup is...

Could not load favourite: System.ArgumentException: Path cannot be empty string or all whitespace.

So it appears back to Vanilla for now until this sorted out. Disappointing, was really looking forward to spending the storm day tomorrow playing Darkness Falls :(

i dont think the installer is treating these latest pushes as new versions...the new version dialog popped up, but when you go through it, it just gives the option to Repair or Remove. If you choose Repair, it says the specified account already exists and then shows the installer was interrupted before launcher could be installed...restart and try again. If you choose Remove, it does just that...but then you need to go download the installer again and install.

Also...Github shows the SetupInstaller.msi file as 2.0.42 from 15 hours ago...and that is what it installs.

Has this been consistently occurring, or just this update? I made a slight change and pushed 2.0.44.

I dont know about consistently, yesterday, i was doing full uninstall and reinstalls. It seems to have worked properly this time. I had 2.0.42 and let it do the update itself and it updated to 2.0.44. I also told it to install and launch Darkness Falls and that seems to have worked too.

Now there is a new issue (which i am not sure is directly related...maybe command line?):

When launching Darkness falls from the launcher, it shows a steam login error: Could not fully initialize steam. the steam client is not running or no connection is possible (tried with a couple other mods too...same error.

but when launching darkness falls from the exe in the directory, it works. Also launching vanilla from the steam client works.

it shows Launching \7DaysToDie.exe -logfile 7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt -configfile=\SaveConfig.xml

This might be a permission level thing. Do you have Run Game As Admin checked? That might be worth trying.

Also the confusion between the versions may be a sync issue with GitHub, which is hosting the mod. I've noticed if I update an XML file, it can take a few minutes before people see the change. Even going between regular view, and Raw view, it can be different. Something to do with caching. So it's possible, I think, that the configuration file gets updated and says "New Version!" but the installer hasn't synced up properly.

Yup, Run Game As Admin solves the connection error, but i have never had to use that before on the launcher...did something else change?

Not intentionally. Maybe the installer decided it didn't need elevated permission? I mean, it doesn't. But the game running as a non-admin user can't see an admin-run program. I'll see what i can do for that. Maybe set Run Game AS Admin as always enabled, since Steam is always admin.

I've pushed 2.0.45 out for anyone who is still having issues with the Save Local functionality.

In the Mod's screen, there's a new button called "Clear Config". This will clear the configuration for that mod, allowing it to do back to default. This will not delete any files.

Thanks for fixing the "Access Denied..." issue!

However, still having mod issues. Running 2.0.51.29909.

Verified 7D2D is running Alpha 17.0 (b240), I've installed and pre-synced Darkness Falls. Upon starting the game, I am greeted with the vanilla version, not the mod. The launcher show's DarknessFalls as an installed modlet. The output to the left shows it copied the master.zip mods, prefas, and data folders and launched the game with -logfile 7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt -configfile=\SaveConfig.xml. The save files showed up under "C:\7D2D\Alpha17" and not "D:\Mods\7D2D\Alpha17" that I had set as the destination folder and where the game copy and mod are (since moving to the new Alpha17 mod launcher, the destination folder has never remembered the folder I've set). Also I installed the mod launcher under "D:\Mods\7D2D\ModLauncher" but that has worked in the past.

Is there something I'm missing. I've uploaded the log file.

Is there anything I can try or provided to help with this issue?

Thanks,

Todd

OK, uninstalled the prior ModLauncher and installed the Beta in custom location for all users. Changed the destination folder to the previously installed Darkness Falls and still ended up with the vanilla version.

I then deleted Darkness Falls, uninstalled the ModLauncher, cleaned out all the old folders (ModLauncher had left a lock on the Darkness Falls TempMods folder though so needed a reboot as well), then installed everything with the defaults to C: drive for just myself and downloaded Darkness Falls again.

Log Files https://pastebin.com/72nbJWvi

AppData https://pastebin.com/dbNNjKhb

Good news is Darkness Falls started this time but the game then locked up with constant stream of console errors on starting. This has been noted in the Darkness Falls forum and I believe unrelated to the mod launcher.

I'm going to uninstall all and try the custom location again and follow-up this post with the results.

After reinstalling ModLauncher in custom location on D: for all users, with game and mod in custom location on D:, I'm back to launching only starting vanilla game. So deleted the mod and will try default location on C: for game and mod.

Log Files https://pastebin.com/9h1eStjw

AppData https://pastebin.com/ULYquwzJ

OK, custom location for ModLauncher good, custom location for game bad. The third try with the ModLauncher installed to D: and the game/mod to default C: location again works (DF still crashes itself but this appears to be mod related).

Hope that helps isolate the issue :)

I was able to track down the issue with the custom location. I've fixed it locally and will do a release this morning. I'm still doing some tests on the steam download options.

If I was the pimps, I would give you and some of the other modders around here a big fat paycheck for what you have done.

I just started using your tool yesterday and it's amazing now that Dust2death told me how to find modlets with it! It is clear you put a ton of work into this. Modders like you make for an epic mod scene instead of a ho hum one.

Thank you!
