  1. What could even lead to more confusion: Immigrants to the US in the 1800's and early 1900's would often have the spelling of their family names changed by officials to look more 'American' - no umlauts or other accents on letters. I'd be willing to wager that the name was originally 'Meitag', or very similar - meaning literally "Mowing day" in German -as with a scythe in the fields. Would have been pronounced more like 'my tawg', but it became Maytag. TFP changed it further to May Lag. And so the English language evolves...
  2. Lol. On my first read, I pictured a happy little twinkie engine pulling a slew of wheeled carts filled with happy tourists who had just left the factory tour. At 2:00 AM? Oh, you mean the real railroad...shunting on the rails...and you wait and wait...not fun.
  3. The Maytag Washing Machine Company was founded in 1893 by businessman Frederick Maytag. Hence his name is on the machines to this day. 'Maylag' is a play on that word, and yes probably tongue-in-cheek refers to 'may lag' as a joke. Another example is the brand name atop the large round plastic rubbish bins in the game. They say 'BRATE' instead of 'BRUTE' - a trade name for that kind of product. Maybe close enough to the original to still be recognizable? Actually could have sworn they did say BRUTE when first appearing in a previous Alpha though. Memory fails me. Keep looking, there's others. Ever have to explain a joke to someone? Yeah, it loses all humor. There ya go.
  4. Too bad due to location restrictions I can't see your posted videos. Good story. Like the rest of us have at one time or another, something went majorly southward and it was time for a fresh game. Lessons learned, hopefully. 😉
  5. The signs maybe more complex than we give them credit for. Not throwing stones here, but the handful of billboards currently in the game sure could use a rework. Only so much one can do with voxels I suppose. Me thinks you're refering to signs as in more detailed, variable size creations for store fronts and such. Like the energy drink and sale adverts? Bigger and better? Keep at it. I'd like to learn that skill as well. I recall mention of URL images in one of these threads. I guess that already (perhaps loosely) exists in the video screen mods? Not being too savvy, I'd probably go the route of photo editing to make my creation. I had Blender at one time. Scared the crepes outta me. But that is only part of it. Getting the image into the game (and it looking good) is another challenge. No, I can't offer any solutions, but what you're trying to do does interest me. Good luck.
  6. Yet not all POI resets revert to the initial layout. Sometimes a wall safe hidden behind a picture frame won't be there after a reset. Couldn't tell ya what particular POI's have that minor glitch, but I've experienced it quite a few times.
  7. Another place to look is https://7daystodiemods.com. I know there's some 5.56mm weaponry there. See ya at the gun range!
  8. Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of making double-dipping a bit more challenging. Once the POI is reset there wouldn't be a guarantee of the loot room being in the same location within the building. I can see why its not as straight forward to implement as I envision, but its a thought.
  9. Indeed. I'll bet they've gotten a few cease and desist orders already. Considering how some items in the game have changed their appearance during the course of the game's development. Lawyers aren't known for their sense of humor There's still some funny 'I saw what you did there' moments in the game. Nice touch.
  10. I plant in rows of ten. I had a harvest of corn where I got only one seed out of ten plants. Yet other rows (different time, same plot) would give me from four to six seeds. Hit or miss. Lotl 3/3 too.
  11. That's why I just sell them to the Trader everytime I get one. Perk into clubs until such time you can get a good ranged weapon. Apart from the pipe machinegun, relying on those primitive firearms are gonna get you killed.
  12. Probably can't buy a twinkie in that mall today. Bloody heathens. No respect....
  13. Lol. No tinned peaches either. 😉 Nor cheesecake. Then again that company was never into peach flavours or cheese. And there were never enough twinkies... If Jen's the driver of that van, well she'll get a pass from me. Pizza or no. And about that stethescope my dear, we need to have a chat.
  14. I like pizza. But since I've been appointed official stethescope inspector by Peter, I have a task to complete. Don't bother me I'm busy....
  15. That's the first unsponsored positive review I've come across for the Deck. May you continue to enjoy it. Screen's too small for me though, so its not on my wishlist. But I'll be watching the tech reviews and such. Sounds like an awesome gift for the younger techies in my family.
  16. Lol. A few thin leather hides, a handfull of meat that I threw into my food box and the old mare did have long legs good for making a lot of glue. Now, being at the same eye level as everyone else, I am not in a position to look down upon anyone's playstyle. It just so happens that I'm rather fond of cheese. I can't craft it, but I certainly will go after it when I'm a bit peckish. If the cheese isn't too runny 🧀. Or the cat's not eaten it. 🙀
  17. Go for the good stuff. Then if ya have to, place a storage box, then do it again. I usually complete one lower tier Trader task a day, and clear out the next job before accepting the job onsite. I have time, there's no rush. I have more time than resources, so I play this way. Maybe its a trade off...the next Trader job may be dismal compared to the one I can double dip now. I ate my high horse early in the game....so shame doesn't really bother me
  18. For that 'come hither' ambiance, I like to place a burning barrel one block below the patio level. Put down some folding chairs, place a cooler and put some beers in it. A few strategically placed table top candles. Surrounded by blooming red and yellow flowers and budding cotton, I scheme of how to temper the party girl into being a party girl.... More often than not its big Momma smacking at the downstairs walls to remind me that it ain't gonna happen the way I want it to....
  19. Countin' flowers on the wall That don't bother me at all Kill'n zeds and dogs and watching out for Captain Kangaroo... Well its just me...Got nothin' to do... 🦘
  20. Hunkay. You're not alone with that feeling. A21 hopefully will change it so we have more than five to repeat. Gives me more loot rooms to target. Its all good then 🙂 Unless the loot rooms are 'randomly' placed within a high tier POI for each quest. That would be an entirely different kettle of fish to contend with
  21. Not really. With all respect, you say folks should not be permitted to take this shortcut! I say play as you will. Don't like it? Then don't MP with them again. And if I am in SP in my own little world, who are you to tell me I shouldn't? The Fun Pimps usually reign in that behaviour with updates if its deemed abusive enough. You can have your opinion, but I am going for that loot room, then I'll activate the quest.
  22. At one time I felt (perceived) that the Lucky Goggles may well have had a greater influence on how good an item I could get out of a wooden loot box, a leather trunk or a locked metal loot chest. But in those days (previous alphas), we could more often than not find a complete weapon or tool. In A20 we're mainly given weapon and tool components that have no quality: parts is parts.. So lucky or not, I just get pieces of the item that maybe I can craft. Goggles don't seem to help for that. Yet, I always carry my +5 Goggles. Put them on to open a potentially good loot chest. And oh so often its a case of meh...why did I even bother. But when I go to see the Trader to sell or complete a task and have forgotten to change out the not-so Lucky Goggles for the Nerd Glasses when making a sale, its a real hit to XP. Arrrgh! So, as a matter of hope against hope, I continue to use the Lucky Goggles. Yeah, digging for buried treasure with a reduction in dig radius is fine, but I like the extra clay if I am using a good enough shovel. So, that's not an issue. All that said, maybe wearing the goggles could perhaps give me a chance of getting some seeds in addition to the harvest of what I find in the wild? That would at least add to their utility. Because they're not what they used to be. For me the Lucky Googles are almost at the point of not being relevant anymore. Except for this: I will always put them on when opening a weapon or armor bundle that I get from a Trader or air drop. Maybe It will help me. An exercise in futility? No one knows....
  23. Colateral damage unfortunately affecting a few. It will happen. All is fair with Dew Collectors and hydration. Or something like that...🧉
