[WIP] True Survival SDX

Recommended Posts

The 7D2D application asks you where to find a factory fresh, exact, with nothing added, copy of the base 7D2D game files. If you have played other mods before, chances are this location has extra junk added to it. I always recommend downloading a fresh copy from steam into a new directory to eliminate any possible contamination.

Funny that could do that after about 40 days of playing.

any way that is the new output log file. I see some errors when I try to get to a chunk:

ERR EXCEPTION: In load chunk (chunkX=118 chunkZ=102):StatModifier class id '66' does not exist.

My player seems broken still to, I guess Ill have to reload that from some point in the past too. If that works...

Anyway thanks for the help so far.

corrupt save?

Happened twice already. First time, after second horde night i switched off the game and after reloading I got spawned as a new lvl 1 character with starting items, although the map was open and the base was still there!

I deleted the game and mods, downloaded a fresh copy and tried it again. Reloaded after day 1 to the same result.

Xp this happened to me too on the first playthrough, was like lvl 60 by the end of second horde...

Im seeing more than just a couple reports about old mod files lying around in the 7dtd folder when trying to install true survival. When you uninstall 7dtd from the steam folder, you also have to go in and manually delete whats left. The steam uninstall button wont get rid of any extra stuff you put in. After thats done you can do a fresh install. Then the launcher will work properly because it takes the steam 7dtd and makes a copy of it for each mod you use off the launcher.

Maybe English isn't your first language but im not sure what your reading. I said and I quote

"Now there is nothing wrong with you playing my mod like that but your not playing it as i designed it to be payed you are taking it and making it something else for your enjoyment thats not True Survival. And thats great I'm glad you are having fun playing it "

Please explain where I call your game settings "pansy-ass settings" because I pick my words carefully when I post and I didnt post what you are saying I posted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's my issue. You guys, players and server owners that are not playing on the REQUIRED GAME SETTINGS are free to play , cut up, remove things, add things and mostly do whatever you want to it. But once you do that its not True Survival its your mod so to say you are playing True Survival is un true. To compare your game play in any way to someone playing the real True Survival is a inaccurate comparison and lessens the achievements of others that are struggling and surviving through it.

Don't take this as a slight or rude because its not meant to be that. I am looking at this purely from a Brand Protection perspective. I have worked every hard to cut out a niche here at 7D2D. I am proud to be The Hardcore Mod for 7d2d and I have put very very very very much time and thought into it and will be putting way more in the future. But when people change the settings they change the core game and mechanics behind it and if a server or player has changed nearly anything it can throw the balance off on the mod and remove the purpose of the whole thing, to be challenging to all, all the time. Now in no way am i saying i don't want you to play my mod as you want. You can remove zombies and craft timers if you have fun like that. But what is important to me is that ya'll understand I am not and will not be balancing the mod to play as it should on those other settings. Its easy to make something "hard" it takes much more thought and effort to make something "challenging" and I dont have the time to balance all those other settings. So jumping on the thread and posting what you did in one night without a list of all the changes you have made REALLY really slows things down and takes time away from other things that could be getting done. This as an example, we have spent what, 10 thread pages talking about your experience in game only to finally drag out of you the differences in your settings. Which means the conclusion of this few day and many post conversation is that i can not use your experience to balance the mod

And as I have said this will not happen in A16 because we will be going back to completing and balancing the mod before release. This alpha has been stable but very messy and time consuming and I apologize. Next one will be better.

@Spider:

I did start 2 new games with the "True Survival" settings listed in the code at the beginning of the thread. The first one I stopped after day 14 at level 51. The second one with a clean mod loaded from the launcher. I just finished day 7 horde where I killed 36 zombies. I'm at level 25. My archery skill is at 45. I do use the bow to shoot them from above. That seems high. And seriously, if I knew how to mod the game, I would fix this..no offense to anyone that has created or helped create the game

Sorry to be a PITA and thanks for your patience. The 60 minute day is a tougher road to hoe btw.

https://pastebin.com/ZJraQFP4

Please let me know which setting is not "True" True Survival. It looks as though the game difficulty is set to = 2, even though the "Nomad" difficulty is selected on startup and is labeled as "3". Does the True Survival need to be played on Warrior?

Thanks again

Okay, note something similar between these two "leveling too fast" reports: they're both using archery. I have always thought the skill gained from those way out of line from the rest of the skills.

i got a blue compound bow on day 5( was lv 4) with 30ihs arrows, until day 6 i spend all the arrows and finish about lv 14-15 (almost one kill per arrow and 1 lv on archery per kill) my buddy was still lv 5 on day 6. we play on required settings 18dayligh, 60min day cicle, 100%loot...

1° horde night we hide coz poor craft management and i probably waste some my skills points :confusion:

Maybe instead xp boost on horde night what a about a loot boost?

Server owner here using all your default settings except 2

We lowered air drop days to 60 days and follower respawn to 60 days (because to be honest we NEVER make it past day 200 lol)

One of my players just did horde night, with bow and arrow and crossbosw. He went from level 20 to level 27. He also told me he was done playing because while everything else was super hard he was not happy he was so easily able to level on horde night.

Bonus xp on horde night is a bad decision in a mod like this. Everything else is so expertly balanced that it feels like whoever made the decision to add bonus xp is literally handing out free xp. This mod is better than that. I dont think anyone here ever asked for free xp. My opinion, removing it would be in the best interest of maintaining the integrity of the mod. If anything give us a way to get rid of it. Not everyone wants carebear leveling.

You want to give people a reason to fight the horde? Make the horde less easier to shake and avoid. Not Christmas XP from Santa Claus.

EDIT - I second the archery argument. Yes people complain it is hard to level but the opposite effect is this. Im sure some of this issue is stemming from all the missed shots people dont realize that also level that trait.

Thanks for response

My daughter has an old GPU and she experiences the exact same thing every time any follower moves or fights. Even with the graphics settings set to lowest possible, she drops from 40+ fps to about 3. If I kill the followers in the immediate area she is fine. Spider just stopped the followers from spawning after initial world setup, with a 250 day delay, so if you kill any followers while they are standing still you should eliminate the problem. It seems to only happen on older cards. She is running an AMD 5770 (well, she just got a new card delivered today thanks to dear old dad) So hopefully I will have more data on this soon. We do not know the exact reason for this issue, so cannot find a solution other than recommend folks turn down UMA textures in hopes that will help some.

How old is the GPU that you are using?

- - - Updated - - -

Hello Xyth! My GPU is like 6-7 years old, it's build mainly for horse power (typical AMD GPU) and I run the game just fine - graphics and FPS wise, however the issue with NPCs (bandits and followers moving and fighting yea)..

Thank you for your response though, I will try the game out now, hadn't had a chance to try it after killing the followers after that update! Will keep you updated!

PS: These issues with FPS seem to start when you discover more and more of the world (Randomgen yep). When we've started playing the coop with my girlfriend, it went just fine (keep in mind, that the world was built 2.4.2017 - may be affected by older versions that havent had this issue??? and now it started doing this problem?.. Just my thoughts about this :) ).

Cheers!!

100 percent it is a mix of older folders and assets. That person needs to delete all their 7 days files and folders (including the lesser known ones in their Users folder) and reinstall fresh. Launcher included.

Actually this was a new folder the installer created on my c drive not my h: where steam keeps its stuff.

Does the installer take the existing folder from the steam folder and then add the true survival stuff to it?

I will try a fresh install and see what happens.

You should never install any mods inside the actual original 7 Days copy that Steam makes initially. The launcher uses the original Vanilla copy for every mod it installs. So if you put Valmod inside that steamapps folder, Launcher will just copy whatever version you have in there Vanilla or not.

Spider i wanna let you know u may have a possible memory leakage in ur mod coz ive tried playing it last 3 days and im getting massive lag spikes and chunks not loadign at all and game freezes at times

There is a memory leak in the original game, used to eat up my 16Gbit ram.

Thanks for the thought :)

But, These some of these save games represent current video series so I can't just delete them.

Also That was right after a fresh install, with deleting everything except the stuff in the user file.

So Like I said for 40 days its been fine. Maybe I can get another 40? I'll just make a program to do daily backups, not a problem. :)

I will just try to work through it, Cheers

@adreden

I use 7D2D RAT (remote admin tool) as my launcher, can be setup to do backups every 30 min only keep last x number

haven't had any issues with saves getting corrupt yet.

I also do all updates by hand and everything is working as of latest update.

running MP server

As stated in several posts I just do a copy of original 7D2D server and client from steam then move in all items/updates from Spider and gang.

Have only gotten to around 145 days though before i do a restart, mod is changing so fast.

Love it though, keep up the great work guys!

Oil Refinery Issue: the countdown timer for recipes being produced in the Oil Refinery only proceed while a player is actively in that workstation screen. If you step away from the Oil Refinery it pauses any timer process until you return. None of the other workstations behave this way so i wanted to check if this was intentional or if i am having an isolated problem in my game.

if someone else could test and verify the behavior i would appreciate it.

Verified. I am currently "waiting" for 265 minutes to make gasoline from oil shale. The craft timer will only run down while I am in the workstation, so I spend just over 2.5 minutes per 100 gas then leave and do something else.

Might want to check the Metal Workbench for building a screwdriver also. I thought I saw on Adreden's video the same countdown issue. I haven't gone back to watch the video yet though, but I'll check here shortly myself.

EDIT: Yes, building a screwdriver on the metal workbench also requires you to be in the workbench to make the craft timer count down. I have not tested for other items on the metal workbench yet.
