  1. Just imagine Darksouls were not a game where any small error means almost automatically your end. Just imagine Darksouls were not a game where you need to memorize what moves the enemy makes like in a jump-and-run. Then it wouldn't be Darksouls anymore but a game where you could add randomness without problem. My point: When a room or part of a room wakes up because of a random roll you are not automatically dead, it is just a dynamic situation you have to adapt to. If YOU are automatically dead (or even most of the time this happens) then you play on a difficulty level too high. Now since stealth was changed recently even I say that balance is probably not quite there yet. So if random wake now means almost all zombies wake up every time even with excellent stealth then that is not an intrinsic feature of randomness but just the balance of such randomness being out of whack. 7D2D on the whole should be fair (for some definition of fair). A good balance means any random element (before the die is thrown) is fair. But the random result is usually not fair. If two players each open a box with the same loot table, that is fair between them. But one finds the OP weapon, the other a stack of leather. That one box is not fair anymore. But after opening hundreds and hundreds of boxes we can again say it was fair. Example war games: Each single game often turns somewhat "unfair" because one of the players seems to have much more luck with his dice. Still war games are played competitively. Because usually all that evens out and better players still win more often on average. For some definition of fair war games are fair and the random element provides variation and a chance for worse players to sometimes win. So what is your exact definition of fair and at what level of the game you want to apply it? A competitive game and definitely a survival game only need to be fair overall. I see no reason for it to be fair on the micro-level of any situation. You enter a room, ideally 0 to all zombies wake up, the more stealth you have and the more precautions you followed it should be more likely 0 or a very low number. This is how it easily can work in 7D2D, while in some other stealth games where detection means 90% sure death it would be clearly wrong.
  2. I'm perfectly fine with them taking years in alpha. Getting a new version every year with new features, for free. That is a good deal even with all the bugs. And a lot of other forum users here have said the same and declared that 7D2D please be in EA as long as possible. Your mileage may vary, so simply wait for the game to release. It was your own decision to be a game tester for this game. The new features are exactly the reason why new bugs appear that then plague users like you that never should play EA and much less an experimental version inside EA ! That is just your personal wish list. Sorry, just browse the Pimp Dreams forum section, everyone has a different list of what he wants. TFP can not implement features that everyone wants, they can only implement features that some part of the players says "Yay" and the rest say "Huh, didn't want this at all". Airport? I don't mind one, but as a feature there are hundred other things on my list than some big flat POI with a huge empty flat field in front No matter how many ways you cook chicken, some customer will complain about it. 😁
  3. What might be relevant is that you are seeing a bug that only some users are seeing. I played A20 for close to 100 hours now and had not one vehicle vanish into the ground. Which means that the developer might not have known about this simple bug Maybe that bug only occurs because of some left over configuration and data from previous versions that is now interfering with the correct functioning of the game. Another reason they might not know about this bug (although I think the vanishing into the ground bug may already be confirmed as a real bug in the game). Side question: Did you follow the advice from the big blue banner above here in the forum?
  4. The text "Get two additional quest reward" does not exist. Level 2 of Daring Adventurer seems to be the "plunderer". And it says "Get two additional choices for quest rewards".
  5. Your fertilizer scheme is a possible method, no question. And by changing the returns of fertilized ground one could even add the feature that LotL 0 does not allow a self-sufficient farm. Which is something the developers seem to want and you desperately don't want as you consider it broken that way. Unless you can convince them that one of their current design goals with farming is wrong you already have lost no matter what your scheme does One disadvantage may be that fertilizer needs one bit in world blocks reserved for recording the "fertilized" state, a very scarce and expensive resource. This may have been part of the reason to remove fertilizer and the old way of farming and my guess is that that alone is a hard sell (unless there is an easy alternative available). Another disadvantage from my point is that fertilizer makes farming even more work (producing fertilizer and fertilizing). A point TFP might actually like and that would probably appeal to Roland as well. At the moment more work would make farming so unappealing that most players would not bother anymore. Naturally that can be corrected by balancing meat resources.
  6. Not really. 1 point in LotL and finding only 1 seed for the whole game would involve lots of luck and time, 2 seeds a moderate amount of luck and time, 3 seeds some luck and time, ... Mostly it is more time the less seeds you have to experiment with.
  7. Yes. Not comparable. A farmer without LotL does NOT turn crops into seeds (if he is right in his head). He just plants seeds he finds or buys. He gets crops out of that process as well as any other farmer, just not a self-sustaining farm.
  8. It isn't only the texture streaming mod, the log shows a HUD mod and even a directory "7DaysToDie_Data" INSIDE the Mods folder of the server. Either a mod has unwanted files included or you did some random directory copies or moves with Windows Explorer or the shell. My advice: Both of you do the steps listed above behind the blue link AGAIN, make sure everything is vanillaesquely vanilla and test again. Especially without mods, any mod (server-side, client-side, UI, not UI) has the ability to foul up the game.
  9. The error message means that at least vehicles.dat in your savegame is corrupted. Probably best to delete vehicles.dat and use creative menue to get back anything missing.
  10. This is not correct. A faulty stick could have just one single bit stuck. Or one single byte duplicated at another address. But you are seeing the same effect of the game crashing, no random errors. IF it were faulty memory it would have to be a bigger chunk and I would expect more randomness in the result. Memtest is an easy and fast way to eliminate a less likely explanation.
  11. Too bad, my pointer was already poised over the "like" button, but then I read point 3. 😁 Chess is a deterministic game. A survival game/open world game on the other hand is not.
  12. Strictly judging by the PC version it is based on it would have most but not all buildings and places. Notable omission would be the canyon with the mine for example
  13. This doesn't sound like what Rick Huenink said: First of all he said "once the PC game is finished". This means the START of the porting work will not be in 2022 and just maybe in 2023. So console players will get a port of the finished PC game maybe in 2024 or 2025 (especially if they really want to port back to the older consoles, Cyberpunk 2077 should be a warning to anyone trying this) "patches" is the wrong word here, there won't be any patches to anything existing. There will be a new game published on consoles, no upgrade to something existing (like the old console game). Whether there will be special deals for old owners is probably up to the new publisher, don't bet on it.
  14. There is a benefit when you take pack mule, you have 5 more armor slots free for other mods. At least AGI players would like that even with q6 armor equipped.
  15. Actually someone from TFP said (paraphrased) that one of the reasons for the change was that without a point in LotL farming should not be longterm viable or have exponential growth. So we can conclude a better scheme would need that at a minimum to qualify. LotL 0 means you are doing what private citizens do in their own garden, i.e. buy some seeds in the supermarket, plant them and get some limited produce from it. Can that be called farming on an amateur level?
  16. One of the best visual jokes is zombie steve's(?) head jumping up from the torso when you land a critical on the head (at least with a knife). In all seriousness I say: Thank you TFP for that animation.
  17. There is a known bug that when you build blocks downwards or replace blocks below blocks used for support, the SI is not recalculcated. Your bug could either be a different result of the same bug or you simply made the wrong conclusions from what is happening. You can turn on SI display (only in debug mode?) and in A20 the color code was much improved. It should help in further tests. If you have a reproducible test case showing it isn't a duplicate of the already known bug, please make a bug report. OR you could wait for the next experimental that hopefully has a bug fix for the known SI issue and retest if your bug is still happening.

  19. So you get the same problem in vanilla. Interesting, it may be a real bug. Clearing out old configuration can be done with a tool in the launcher. Click on the blue banner link that is displayed on every page here in the forum to find a howto. If you have worlds or savegames from previous alphas you want to keep, copy them to a backup location before you do this.
  20. Probably 90% of the forum posters are the same 50 people all year through. If they don't shout "great idea" the first 3 times you post something it is likely they will not react with enthusiasm the next 10 times as well. Sometimes you just have to accept that a wonderful idea you have is just not the right idea for a specific crowd. I posted an idea in the dev diary 2 weeks ago to see how it would be received. I got 8 likes, 1 dislike and 2-3 people posting to say they don't like the idea and why. I would translate that to a mixed reaction. I won't ask again since I'm sure to get much the same reaction again if I did. I might make a mod for it eventually but I don't think this idea will be adopted by TFP because of forum support.
  21. About one thing you are right, the night time generator missions are much more difficult than other missions of the same tier. Usually those difficulty spikes happen at the start of every new major alpha version and get smoothed out over the next months through player feedback. In this case they could for example move those quests one or two tiers higher or they could make the warning more obvious that this is a difficult quest. PS: In my first generator mission I survived because I went up on a ladder going to the next room and shot zombies in the head who tried to follow me up the ladder. And yes, I had a pistol as well 😉
  22. Doesn't seem to have helped in a similar case. I assume the drone file just has some information about mods installed, but the most important data is directly stored in the player data. Probably the player data tells the game there is a drone with id x, but there is no drone file with id x. Which would mean you can't get rid of it without deleting the player itself
  23. "Fear of Dying" may not be the best word for it. But when you watch playthroughs over and over it is the helplessness that makes you fear any surprise contact as it means you are fodder for an horificly deformed monster (there is often disgust mixed into the horror to make it more effective). It isn't the unknown, you know very well what to expect. I may be relatively blunted and don't feel much horror, so read my dry analysis with a grain of salt 😉
  24. I got both L4D in my steam library but don't seem to have even installed them at any time. Most of the games you usually mention I don't even own. In my mind I usually have to substitute those parts of your posts with "mumble mumble horror shooter mumble" 😁
  25. So then why did YOU bring up "child zombies" again? It was you who talked about them in the post I quoted. Most likely they will still add the new clothes system if they have time, but if enough people protest after trying it out that they can't individualize their toon anymore they will then adapt the feature. Maybe add mods that change the outfit, ... In theory they might listen if 100 players said the same thing 1 time, I doubt they will listen when 1 player says the same thing 100 times. And clearly if they were agreeing with you that there was something wrong about 7D2D then they would probably change it in 7D2D as well, not only in the next game. Just as an example, removing the drone is absolutely trivial to do. If they were agreeing with you they would not wait for 7D2D 2 to implement that change they would do it immediately.
