  1. Who are the "we" you are speaking for?
  2. The savegame is very likely corrupted. If it is not too bad you might get off with deleting some region files (which would erase any changes in some areas of the world) or your player character. Otherwise you would have to start a fresh world or switch to a recent backup if you backup your savegame regularily. Without a logfile we can not guess what the right choice might be. Read the pinned thread in this forum section carefully for a way to find and post your logfile: https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/3956-how-to-report-an-issue-please-read-before-creating-new-threads/?do=findComment&comment=3956
  3. If this were a fantasy game, the cop would be an armored archer and the mutated zombie the wizard in cloth doing AoE damage spells (that green stuff is doing AoE damage, right?). I think he is well suited for horde nights, especially since it also clouds your vision. Getting blasted from cops and mutated from all sides could do some damage I suppose. If he were meant as a boss zombie like the demo then he would need a massive boost though.
  4. Don't you know what "odd number" means? Set LandClaimSize to a number ending in 1,3,5,7 or 9 in serverconfig.xml. Like 45 or 51 for example. Then try again.
  5. steam workshop has been long announced as planned for release. I guess that they don't want to incorporate it earlier because steam workshop seems to have no working versioning and workshop would then allow installing mods from old alphas without any check. I agree that the wilderness currently is a bit lifeless, at least in the forest, but the new RWG is hot off the press and had a focus on towns, I assume the wilderness will get some improvement too. And I think your impression that those player built bases are normal is just because you play on high-population open servers. For most people playing 7D2D there are no remnants of player-built bases and they would look gamey and out-of-place (like the ones in compo pack do) Consider that "in reality" people would not build "bases" from scratch as they are not super-builders with the ability to carry 1000 blocks of concrete. They would take over any building that looks sturdy and put traps in there and barricade entrances. And you can see examples of this in many POIs
  6. Shader warnings are usually harmless and I would guess the worst that could happen would be that the player sees orange shapes in his world. But I could be wrong here, I am not an expert on Unity It could also just be the result of the server throwing out the client because of EAC violations or something else.
  7. You may be right as 41 is (oddly) the default for LandClaimSize. But why isn't this mentioned in the comment? I don't know whether the limit to odd numbers or the missing mention is the real bug, but neither issue is in the known issues.
  8. As moderator I have to say you all have a hard time dropping a specific subject that is against forum rules. I will help you with that: The next one even glancing sidewises in that direction will get a warning, his post deleted anyway and this thread will be locked.
  9. Here is someone who needs to have the last word... at all cost. 😉
  10. You probably will have some fun there. I went there for a digging quest and a tier4 POI quest inside a town around day 50 and had to return to base after the dig quest for more ammo. Then the tier4 quest, it was one of the most intensive half hours I had in this game. But it also reminded me of the fact that the game only works if you really have limited ammo, if I had sprayed ammo like there is no tomorrow it would have been just another day at the office.
  11. Sure, but then you also will see a bear once in 5 years. Food is supposed to be a struggle in the game. If one bear could generate food for weeks your food problems would be over by day 3. If you have problems with immersion, just assume most of the bear meat is unusable and you can only use the liver for cooking
  12. Have you ever tried to delete old configuration data? When you start the launcher from steam there is a tools tab. The last option allows you to delete everything from worlds to savegames to character data and config settings.
  13. Ah, thanks. On my computer there is no list of recently played games accesible from the tray icon, either a fundamental difference or maybe a specific setting in the options. What theFlu said. And regarding the SI issue, I'm not aware that there has been a change in how collapsing works. But there seems to be a bug that makes buildings collapse even though they are structurally sound because updates to SI sometimes don't register
  14. Is that your level of discussing? I get that question to start the launcher every time. But I don't know if this is happening to everyone, I am on a different operating system and I think I have seen someone else not getting this question pop-up on Windows. It may have something to do with old settings in the registry maybe
  15. I'd say no, because you can easily clear pois at day and loot at night.
  16. I have to agree generally. Failure management and error correction (in other words the boring stuff) seems to have been neglected somewhat. It should not be necessary to manually delete old generated worlds when those worlds already have versioning information in them. I don't agree that A20's new features are garbage or that the changes (for example to farming) are bad, but that has been already discussed in other threads. With all the technical problems you had I would also say that you didn't have the time to really try them out and give them a chance.
  17. Grenades are very susceptible to not flocking together. And regarding molotovs, one of the last zombiebag I looted had a glass of water in it! Coincidence? 😉
  18. You could just have asked for the reasons and then checked the plausibility of those reasons first before inventing new theories on incomplete information The timing argument, sorry, has a big hole: It is a new alpha, all big changes happen at exactly the same time. So the addition of a drone, the RWG changes, the difficulty to find beakers, feral sense, ... all conspicuously happened on the same day. 😉
  19. Excellent. The new meta will be to build a new horde base every week because the zombie AI remembers the pitfalls of the current horde base indefinitely and avoids them. I'm sure players will rejoice. 😁
  20. And ammo scarcity is a necessity if some ammo is clearly better than other ammo and arrows and melee and needs some disadvantage too. If you don't save on ammo you need to spend some time in a mine or expend more money for ammo instead of other things. By the way, I remember day 7 horde nights in alpha15 and 16 where my group used ONLY bows and arrows and lots of wooden spike traps. If you don't have enough ammo, collect feathers and you don't need to wait out the horde night. Is this about the word "acceptable" ? I'm not a native english speaker and maybe we have some miscommunication here. I did not say that you can't use those weapons, that they are unacceptable to be used. I meant "acceptable" as in "sufficient", "up to the task" or "adequate". You see no compelling reason to use the compound bow over the wooden bow? Like more damage, more range, less ballistic curve, but mostly more damage? You are not making any sense here.
  21. It is random. In my SP game I built a ladder for the zombies to climb up so I could make easy headshots. It worked 1 and a half horde nights then suddenly zombies would ignore the ladder.
  22. No, you haven't found the right way to use spike traps. Plant them in the ground, make their top be level with the ground and zombies will treat them like a plane floor and walk all over them.
  23. Are you saying you are continuing playing an A19 world with A20 and are surprised the game stops working correctly? Well, update instructions say that you should delete old worlds when upgrading to a new alpha. As a 30+ years software engineer you should know to follow upgrade instructions, right? You should also know that major versions are commonly used to introduce incompatible changes, only minor versions usually keep compatibility. This is a very common standard in the software industry for many years now.
  24. No, TFP want to remove another play style. I'm sure of it since I have my tin hat on while typing this. 😁
