Guide: How-To download almost every past Steam version of 7 Days To Die from Steam

Red Eagle LXIX

Recommended Posts

OK, so I install 16.4 using "download_depot 251570 251576 7468628160220339213", fire the client up, and get this error...

Seems fine afterwards, but what the hell?

Data\UMATextures\TraderCaitlin_0_d.png

is missing a LOT. Known thing. much griping. I keep copies of that around for just that when was reinstalling just normally in 16.4

Happened both under linux and windows, so not depot specific. Yet, sometimes a clean install WOULD get it.

a WTH moment indeed.

So, interesting find. If I do a clean download of 16.4 via Steam, there is no error when starting the client from Steam. It starts perfectly normally.

If I move the folder, and start the client directly, then I get the same error. Doesn't matter if I use the standard exe, the EAC exe, or the launcher exe file.

Will require more investigation. :)

check to see if you got the uma folder. It's really weird. Sometimes you do get it, sometimes not.

(which is why I saved the files, for the not times)

That's why it's so weird. I did get it and it worked, and all I did was rename the folder it was in, and now it's giving the error. It's really strange. Not a huge issue as the game plays just fine, but it is rather odd.

That it is. I just put it down as one of those damned intermittent bugs that are a nightmare to squash, kept a copy of the needed files to use when required, and waited for a fix.

Being doing tech support pretty much since there was tech to support, and I absolutely HATE intermittent bugs.

This is reproducable though. Sometimes. Sometimes not. a WTF is going on here thing.

Rename the entire 7dtd folder, redownload. Maybe you get it, maybe you don't. I wasn't going to keep dl'ing several gig a pop to try and gather stats on it. I get bored, but not THAT bored. :D

Mind you, to be fair, some intermittent bugs are amusing, even if WTF. (like the invisible force fields that pop up from time to time on the server in 17.3/4. Or the mini-bike doing a great imitation of a submarine doing a crash dive.) :D

Fantastic!

Just for the access to Classic Horde Mode alone this is an amazing resource!

I loved the Horde Mode! And i miss it so much in the game.

Last time i found Gnamod with a new Horde Mode and play it sometimes. But the old Horde Mode was great!

Hey, thanks! I just reset my password so I could login to thank you. I've been a teen in 2013 and always had my fave versions. Thanks to your posts and detailed information I bought 7D2D finally to be able to download older versions that ran well on my Pentium potato pc. Much appreciated again.

I know this is an old thread but was wondering if these old versions could be set up as a server too. Just watched a streamer play v10.4 and he had tried earlier versions but couldn't get them to start with out null reference errors.. .Would love to set up say a v 5.0 server for kicks

I tried using this method to download A16.2 by typing in "download_depot 251570 251576 7471919719367957705", but I get

] download_depot 251570 251576 7471919719367957705

Depot download failed : Manifest not available

ExecuteSteamURL: "steam://open/downloads"

Am I doing something wrong, or is this not an option anymore?

Depot download failed : Manifest not available
Damn, according to reddit and Steam Forums, the download_depot feature is no longer available. :(

PS As per the last paragraph in that reddit post, " u/xPaw, developer on SteamDB, has made a comment on r/Steam explaining why this is happening, as well as suggesting using DepotDownloader as an alternative."

Can i get a dumbed down way to download previous Alphas because i have been trying to download A15 and 16 for the last 4 hours and havent been able to figure it out for the life of me

You should be able to get stable versions down to 8.8 through steam. It's the earlier versions before those that you have to get using this method I am having trouble with
