  1. Holy crap, Sorcery? Excellent - been wondering about that. 🧙🏼‍♂️
  2. Huzzah! I was wondering what her damage was, sending us out 4 f'in km. Time to try a DF dev build for the first time. Water is finally changing for 21, right - I mean lakes and ponds not the stupid jar thing. I hope that that leads to good fishing mods.
  3. Yeah, we figured out the themed strippers - my wife noticed and yeah, seemed reasonable they were "party stirppers:" I'll pay more attention, hope those aren't former stripper cops we're seeing. Yikes... I appreciate being able to just leave the advanced forge to its business. Nice surprise if you forget, finally check it, and the bullet tip "crisis" isn't anymore.
  4. Lol, we are actually putting off becoming farmers atm - like *maybe* 3rd class so the desert is especially important. Love that class but need a break? I think that my favorite bases are on the border land of pine and desert - esp w/ a lake. Because it's pretty, lol. (Damn I wish we had fishing and boats. I heard that no one at TFP "was interested in doing that." Rick- A20 streams) At a certain point in the pines, I definitely get to the point where I'm wanting to be on a motorcycle cruising through the desert and then after hanging out there for a bit I'm ready to see green - maybe a bit tired of vultures. I'm not going to be drawn to the snow lands very often and that is part personal preference i.e. I'm just not that into snow and cold. *shrug* I would go if the loot was better than the pine & and the desert but it's not. DF makes the Wasteland a hell of lot more interesting - never had a base *there*. Too creepy, yeah, that's why. 😃
  5. K, I might have to pre-apologize for my reading comprehension atm (not caffeinated enough yet). We (my partner, buddies) have to go to the desert biome for lead, wheat, rice, coconuts (TY for that bread recipe, lol), etc. Gas of course, because we use a lot. We "need" all of that because of our playstyle(s). [Also the other day we also went there picking up aloe for the new scientist - AND someone commented that Khaine rlly made the desert worthwhile again. True story, lol]. Anyway, the desert biome will be visited ASAP. Admittedly, especially as loot isn't tied to biome*, we don't have a lot of reasons to go to the snow *except* on this RWG map the snow got a few big cities. [Edit I have to put the DF_Bunker *somewhere as well: was generated.] If someone stays in the pines somehow getting "all the things they need" that seems like a playstyle choice. Not going to the burned biome 'cuase it was merged into the Wasteland and I don't miss it. So, y'know w/ the mention of the burned area I have to kinda wonder if we're talking about a fully updated game/mod? *shrug* *[Why isn't loot level tied to biome anymore? Just curious, obv not a big deal as we live in DF now.]
  6. I'm glad that you said that 'cause I'm literally building forges next time I play. I actually have a crazy plan for dart trap placement on a horde base - see if I can pull it off over the next week if I'm lucky. Currently a laborer so that won't be an issue: I was *kinda* thinking of scientist for mods next because the gamestage still catches us before we're ready. ...but we have a crazy amount of skill notes so I'll think I'll end up doing mechanic + scientist likely. (Partner rlly wants hunter next and farmer too would be nice what whatevs.) Lol, I guessed I've rlly missed my turrets. Perhaps it was the dying yesterday. SMH
  7. It's often mine too and if not, likely second. Like, the next time we log in I'm more than likely taking mechanic as a second class - some has to. 😃 More vehicles, yeah but gotta have the turrets. I love when two or more "pin" a zombie. Not everyone in a group is going to want to start/second class a mechanic though so thought it may be cool if non-mechanics got more use out of turrets like non-farmers can make chicken coops and farm plots w/ perks.
  8. Indeed but it seems like I have a lot more fun w/ them in DF than in vanilla. 😃 We do find them useful AF sometimes but not in all situations of course. It's a minor bummer that you need to have the mechanic class to have any skill with them? Any thought of a "robot hobbyist" perk that allows some skill w/ turrets as far as damage or even manufacture? Kinda like Farming Basics gives some farming skills. An early game thing - in the cases where no one starts as mechanic and thinking of a different 2nd class. Again, having a blast w/ DF, just a random thought yesterday as I was hauling my lvl 1 junk turret around, lol. Luckily a tree stump set me right: dayum, folks stash a lot of good turrets in stumps. Not complaining. 😆
  9. I don't know what's going on here but, dayum, it sounds exciting. 😆
  10. Aw, I assumed that it was a mod w/ swords. Bummer. 😆
  11. It is a super friendly and helpful community - I've been in some that were not. It's an early access game not the 4th in a series from Bethesda FFS - it or a server might need tweaking - get used to that or don't play early access games. Folks will gladly (or grumpily) help but they need some info.
  12. Y'know, I might have a hard time roleplaying my character: he might have established habits like mining, chilidogs, and always basing above ground but I don't even know where or when he came from (Yet?) - like if he was freakin' D&D elf or something. I think maybe filling a role or roles in a team in 7Days can create its own kind of "drama" w/ a plot and characters but w/o acting- esp during Horde Night. They're not super in depth characters but they're not the office workers, techs, students etc who we are. Three of us were getting ready for Horde night at a buddy's fortress. He decides he wants all the scaffolding, whether the electronics are done or not, and people inside. My wife and I are pretty new and he's teaching us how to play. I am not done hooking stuff up. So, there is a moment when we are both standing on frame blocks over a very deep pit and I tell him, "If you do not give me a minute more I WILL drop you in the pit." (Naw, didn't know how, lol.) Horde night still got me pretty hyper. My wife shrugged and went inside to grab the best spot. So, that got interesting when roles/tasks clashed - a little extra excitement to get past but no one was acting. I mean, I don't *think* that's roleplaying and I don't see how RP could add much. That's me though - still interested if someone comes up w/ some kind of framework. Just interested though, lol.
  13. I rarely see mention of RP in the server listings but I can only read the ones in English. It seems like GTA is maybe better suited for RP - that and it has way more players so a better chance of there being enough LARPERs to form a group on a server. When I played Project Zomboid I'd see a bunch and now again someone would pop on to our server "in character" and kinda break the immersion/environment we had created? We were cool but let 'em know we weren't doing that. One of the PZ devs is into the GTA RP and I *think* is trying to bring some of that into their zombie apocalypse game. I bet if/when 7D2D has many players as Rust (...it should damn it, lol) RP servers will appear. Now *I* need to know - I'm rlly curious what backstory, goals etc etc they'd develop. =\
  14. Thanks so much - I DO want to be surprised but am still watching 101 videos as well as Khaine and Neebs playing, I just need a bit of mining help and I'll be good. ...for awhile. We can defend Joel's and Hugh's pretty easily - and have a nifty loft above Joel's head, lol but yeah, we got stacked in the daylight yesterday. We love to build but have been hesitant because everything is so new. I really prefer hills - basic tactics, people didn't build towers on hills for the view. ...Ok, that's part of the reason I do, preferably by the ocean. No more star forts in lakes though because the water gets destroyed. =\ Definitely want a smaller base (as in literal bottom of the tower) to defend - we found some spots away from town centers - one has a prison POI w/ towers that we can flee to, lol. Thanks for the advices!
  15. Firstly, this mod is mind-blowingly great: wow. So much more intense - I can finally fight w/ a spear, etc. I thought that I'd never craft anything again, lol - and then we have guns, minibikes, and new classes. Tons of fun! Anywayz my wife/gaming partner have been staying at traders so far and every night means a big attack: we are being *so* quiet. It burns through ammo (arrows) and Molotovs. |-( We're also playing at our usual settings of Survivalist/feral always on, we're at game stage 50ish on day 10 (Horde is delayed while we learn - we're busy.) . Should we be able to hunker down safety (Joel's or Hugh's) in a trader or do we need a tower on a hill or island for a mellowish night? [Edit. Feral always on was a bit crazy - daytime is cool and taking down the max zeds from 125 to 100 seemed to help. It still gets crazy as hell but we get breaks. 😃 ]
  16. "Moats" always work well for two of us but they're filled w/ spikes and there are spikes (hopefully) iron around the sides of the base. We are constantly hitting them w/ whatever missiles and *especially* area weapons like molotovs and things that go boom though. The spikes in the trench will thin the zombies out a bit but the goal is to slow them down until we can kill them. So, make sure that you can throw molotovs w/o setting yourself on fire. I'd say that you could spike the roof to keep them off of it but you might want to use that so you can see them coming and shoot/firebomb them. Controlling how they get to you is important, i.e. limit their routes to you or build one for them. If it's to figure out how to build a base, look at the POIs like the stone church w/ the tall belfry, the water tower that you can climb inside (you'll need to build catwalks imo) or on top of a strong trailer (some are very tough). There are actually a bunch of POIs that are designed to be Horde towers but the three that I mentioned are our lazy ones. As for a plan B the idea is to get to a nearby building but we've been making sure that we have access to tunnels nearby as we mine a lot anyway.
  17. Mm. Can we have horses then? 😀 (I mean steeds. Oh and lances please.)
  18. Yeah, that bummed me out when I saw it yesterday. The day had started out so well too. *sigh* Good gods, it's terrible.
  19. Always check garbage, cars, and trashcans for glue, pipes, lumber so you can easily make other guns like the pipe shotgun and pistol so that you can use any ammo that you find. Also a rifle for deer. Oh check toilets for pistols of course - srsly. Those drinks and candy can be pretty useful imo- especially jailbreakers to open safes and ATMs. Later in the game my wife each rent one make a lot of money from the rentable vending machines but players can only own one each. The markup on stuff that you put in the machine to sell is outrageous! Not that I'm complaining. Oh yeah - arrows seem to be better for the early game than bullets so learn how to hit from a distance but the machine gun is effective on zombies early game (as well as using up bullets).
  20. I have been disappointed w/ the early lack of schematics and books in bookstores in A20 - I try to remember that we *will* run of paper in the future once shotgun turrets start going up but I sometimes I don't want to fill an inventory square w/ paper we don't need yet. I think that going fwd I'll channel a bit BUT I'l have the attitude that my guy really doesn't know what he's looking for yet and save bookstores/crypt archives for a bit later.
  21. Spot on - I'll add wanting to play on a new map because it looks cool because of its particular biome arrangement, POIs, islands, etc etc - maybe concentrating on different skills/roles (<-- still not a farmer...) or just "doing it better" next time. Love games that let you generate new maps. So yeah, "end game" isn't really a thing to us. ...if it was, it being limited to "just' wiping out a faction or factions is a bit disappointing to me but just a bit - I love the gameworld. I'm wondering where the zombies came from, why they all look the same, why so many folks have labs and weird equipment hidden in bunkers - also if there's an outside world to escape to, or surviving a certain number of Bloodmoons in each biome "cleanses the land of Blood Moons" or something, lol. Otherwise as long as the game we paid $10 or something a year ago keeps improving for free and modders keep making it better for lots of different tastes, we're good. If someone's not self-directed and doesn't enjoy coming w/ their own end goals and achievements (...or have buddies that do) early access games must be pretty aggravating. I dislike narrative driven and linear games so I think that I can understand - i.e. opposite of open-ended. *shrug*
  22. Maybe approach it from a character class approach i.e. what do you want to be. I've wondered what it would be like to be a "ranger" or someone who rlly prefers to live away from the cities. So imo that would be an emphasis on Fortitude for the survival/food skills (huntsman, iron gut, living off the land, etc) and Perception for spears, animal tracking, and salvaging, then some archery from Agility (doesn't seem you need much). I've gone that direction for awhile in early game but haven't built a character like that *yet* , but I plan on it. That's just an example - is there some type of character/profession that you want to play? [Good timing for this post as we're on a new map and most of my points are of course funneled into Str and Int atm...lol]
  23. Ah. I get it - we won't use those versions on our maps then. For what it's worth, you've made some amazing POIs! Most dangerous traders we've ever visited, lol. Hope everything sorts out. 😃
  24. Wow! So glad that my sweetheart asked if I'd check to see if there was a date. Fantastic news! ...having a "quick game" just became make new super cool world though, yikes. Off to it! Thanks for all the hard work and keeping us informed.
  25. Madmole? Doughphungus is a force multiplier - I'm not throwing anything out else out there, lol! Now we're on to crypto mining which usually elicits knee-jerk horror but...my wife are kinda miners - it's how our buddy who taught us to play really focused on mining & crafting. Good gods now I'm being pulled towards the dark side... I hope that we don't wait long for the "big reveal."
