"Any sufficiently advanced science may be mistaken as magic."

Indeed. That maxim has been exploited a lot in the past. Good, bad or indifferent - it is difficult to refute.

But, trying to keep this voodoo theme on track, with oddly lit reckoning machines susceptible to rare earth magical magnetism amoung slaughtered in-game chickens (its a real thing I assure you), where do we turn to now?

I say the contents of coffins. Jewelry? There is none. The occult, though not visibly within the code, may reveal.

    Any input @Uncle Al?

You say "head in the wrong place," but I would argue that the "place" is exactly the correct location, especially if it happens to correlate with what may still be known in the Army as "the four corners of contact."

I'm not familiar with the four corners of contact reference. There's a cookie in the other series of photos in @Maharin's link that shows a misplaced head. I was going from there...

Well, what's stopping me from decimating the horde completely and safely in my forstress, and going out after that, while it's technically still a horde night but the horde has been destroyed?

The way I see that being able to work as you described would only be viable during the first few Blood Moons, since I've experienced those horde nights where they can quit spawning before 04:00 of the following morning. Later in the game, that won't be the case.

So which is it, Horde Night or Blood Moon? For me it's the same thing. It starts at 22:00 and lasts until 04:00 of the following morning. If you're going to attempt getting an air drop during those 6 hours, you'd best "be quick about your business". 🏍️ 😬

Maybe everyone who was alive, years ago, ate all the good stuff like peaches and looked in the cupboard and went "All I have left is....Pears? some Peas? I guess I'll... die of starvation".

    and they did.

Funny you say that. IRL i stayed with a family whom I dearly loved and peas, the fresh ones, were too often a part of dinner.

I developed a loathing for peas. That was culminated in the day I was asked to come in to the kitchen to help. Help clean a sack full of peas in the pod. 🤢

EDIT: Actually, I'm hoping for wheat to be added and then so many more recipes could be added to include bread, dough, pie crust, etc.

We can improvise with the ground corn. Not the same as wheat, but we could get by. If we had a cooking recipe that supports it. It's after 22:00 hours. I open my food chest to see what I might be able to cook up as a substantial meal since I don't have anything else to do. I'm not hungry, but having a power meal in my inventory is always a good thing.

    Some corn meal

    Lots of raw meat

    One egg

    3 cans of peas

2 tins of those obnoxious pears

    4 blueberries

    2 pumpkins

5 raw potatatoes (need to plant those in my new garden)

A partial stack of congealed animal fat

SOL for now. Looks like another few grilled meat then.  I used to look forward to a well-grilled steak. Too much of a good thing is not such a good thing after a while.

And not a peach to be found. It's rumored there's a Pop'n Peach somewhere in the wild. My quest continues...

  6. @NekoPawtato. It doesn't take me long to use up paint. One unit of paint will usually cover one block face. Now some cosmetics within my base I will make a priority (eg. making a crate that holds my food look like a stove which I've put a fire ring on, or painting a crate to look like a beverage cooler which I will use for all my drinks).  But I use paint mostly to change the reflection of bars which I can shoot through. And if one's base has a fence all around, then the paint is used up quickly. And when the bars are upgraded we must paint them again. My vision has changed over the years. Not enough light is a problem. But too much light, as in the reflection from my headlamp is not good either. My solution is to Paint it Black. That black carpet texture. The shades we can wear don't help, so I revert to paint. In A21, I'll just have to suffer through it until I am swimming in excess water.

as for the question of choice... i prefer to survive and that painted wall will not fill my belly. :)

Indeed. But I can't drink that bottle of oil. so I'd like to make paint with it. Good to know things haven't changed in regards to the paint. But they could...

With the upcoming water changes, making water more scarce and murky water so valuable...

Will there be any changes to the recipe for paint? Or will paint become the new ultra-luxury no one would want to afford?

Good question. As it is now, we can remove the dyes from scavenged clothing and then scrap it to get 15 paint per unit of dye. I hope that doesn't change. But using the precious murky water to make paint does seem like its going to be a difficult choice. I could see the paint recipe needing a bottle of oil instead of water...I seem to gather a lot of oil and rarely use it.

Oh.  So lake, River water now is cosmetical?

Well It appears we can drink it and maybe get dysentary, but we can not take the water with us. We can't make our little 2x2 pool anymore. So I don't have to use 7 iron ingots making a bucket. In fact it seems that in A21 a buckect will be useless.. We won't be able to craft jars in the forge, and any water we find in loot, a vending machine or get from a trader can be murky or drinkable. But its not in a jar, its just a useable quantity of water. We want more water? Then we have to make the dew collector. Many dew collectors.

the plane won't simply land and pick you up

That could well be something the devs consider as an end game scenario. But where would they be taking you? Some top secret poke and prod lab? And you won't be the one who's doing the poking and prodding that's for sure...District 9 comes to mind.  The devil you know may be better than the devil you don't know. Don't get on the plane

  11. Wow. Just plain wow. Only now found this thread, and it has indeed been most entertaining from start to finish. I could have been levelling up in 7 Days to Die, but opted for this time-sink instead.

    Who is Kuosimodo

What color is the Lochness monster? Did Big Foot really steal my bike? Area 51 - where's the other 50 then?

Like that big-haired fellow espousing the existence of aliens, y'all ain't proved a thing. But I was amused none the less. An excercise in futility, to an extent. Kuosi did respond to the inquisition at the end, and none of ya expected it 😋. After all of the attempts to bring @Kuosimododown he* still prevails!

If the handle was Kuosimodette, I'd say 'she'. Stuff all that gender identity smoke screen until we're intimate enough to be able to determine what's really there. I can bail just as well as the last girl did. Speaking of which, where was @SnowDog1942 during all of this?

  12. I considered carrots, but I can take 'em or leave them. Don't care at all. I like peaches, not pears. Thank the devs for not giving us broccoli or cauliflower. Cabbage I could handle, but then I'd be expecting a kielbasa recipe to go with it. We've got the potatoes, just can't boil them to make a super meal*. I understand, folks would rather have some AI be able to rip their heads off before they went into the kitchen. Cooking is important too. But why do I have to deal with pears?

*Not true. We have other recipes that do just that.  But not enough of them IMO. And none of them need pears or peaches.

@Urban Blackbear suggested chicken and pears. OK, I'd try that army food recipe if it gave some buffs. But the lowly peach has been pushed aside. Ignored even. I still suspect an unpleasant encounter somewhere in Georgia is the reason the Texans have kept peaches out of the game. Pears? Phtt. 🙂

I thought it was Beer Den, but @Urban Blackbearhas taught me otherwise. Thanks for the suggestion . I may well convert that poi into my main base sometime.

Face the bears and drinks are free

It was the beers, not the bears, I banter a bit with you both @ElCabong and @Urban Blackbear.  Sorry Bear. Call it a momentary lapse of whatever 😁

Just beware of getting quest for that location, if you think it might be the bear den, scrap the quest or you will reset everything.  That is supposed to be patched (no quest where you have a land claim block) but we got mixed reports of people still getting quest in camped locations.

I wasn't aware that a land claim could affect a quest. One time I told team players not to quest at a specific poi because we had agreed it was going to be our base, eventually. Early game, lost our only forge and all its contents. Maybe a claim block would have helped, but it was a near rage quit for me. 'Sorry" is not the same as precious iron ingots.

It is a good game - but the zombie glitch bug is annoying beyound belief.

For a zombie to hit me and cause a leg sprain while I am on the other side of a block or door is not in the spirit of zombie defense, I agree. Now that you realise this, consider defending from a higher vantage point. Perhaps you are too invested in yourr build, but consider a base that is 4 or 5 blocks above the zombies. Shoot arrows through bars that you've laid as a platform. Try molotovs or other throwables through gaps in the flooring, that kind of thing. Now, the only glitching through of zombies that I can recall is usually through a hatch, whether its upgraded wood or made of iron, that's been placed to act as a gate or door.

You'll come back with a different strategy to try. It is a good game. And every play-through seems different because of the RNG aspect of it.

And if you're about to face a bloodmoon and nobody else is likely to help in the attack, maybe use those few game hours before they all spawn to find someplace that you can survive in...the roof of a poi that's at least made of cobblestone is an option. Let them tear that place apart. You don't have to fight them, just survive them . Those birds will be your biggest challenge if the others can't get to you.

I'm not sure why they can glitch through your game blocks though. But then again, I don't let them get close enough to me to do that during bloodmoon. Adapt and have fun

  16. Glad you like him and his vids.

If TFP were to put a spotlight on to his work, or that of any of the many other worthy creators who use 7dtd in their videos, it would IMHO pave the way for a chaotic clamber of folks crying out to have their favorite video author recognized as well. Then, where would you draw the line? It'll become a can of worms.

A modder may be smitten enough to create a JaZed in a build, but TFP aren't going to even hint at going in that direction for Josh or anyone else.  Understand why?

  17. I also head towards having a cooking pot as soon as possible. either by looting or crafting a forge if I can. I have some grace period (as of the current default game settings) before I need to be concerned about temperature. Food and drink. With those I can survive the later effects of cold (campfire helps for food. drink and warmth).  I'd prefer to find a mod that improves the bash 'em in the head with my poor club. The flaming mod does that, but so do a few of the others.

First hour, realistically, a cooking pot; opens up boiled meat for cheap healing. Anything else is either too common to worry about or too rare to look for... if you run into a wasteland, checking some cars for small surprises like a melee weapon might be an idea.

Well, in an RWG I don't know where the wasteland is*. And even if I stumbled across it I may consider hitting up a few cars or such on its border. Highly unlikely for me though.

    * could have copied it to some other tool, but just because I have seen the map after its been generated, in-game I won't see it. Or can I?

  18. Tinned pears present only their immediate food value - and so does the canned chicken. They are welcomed,  but we can't use either in mid- to late-game recipes. And the pears label looks way too much like the canned peas (which we are able to use in later-game recipes). Coincidence? Or are we meant to carefully examine the label?, because we have to if we want to stockpile peas to be used later.

So why pears? Why didn't the devs choose peaches instead? I've never IRL bought a can of pears, but I have enjoyed many a tin of peaches.

Having peaches in the game would allow for peach pie, peach cobbler, peach brandy, oh this list can go on...

But pears? Pear pie? probably why its not in the game.

Did someone on the team have a bad experience in Atlanta or something?

Give me a yellow labelled tin of peaches, and retire the canned pears. I might be able to craft some value-added items with peaches. Pears ,well not so much.

    Chicken pot pie anyone?

Feelings are an unreliable path to diagnosing computer technology.

Yep, nothing but the facts ma'am. Gut-feel is always there though, and it may lead to the source. Or not. Investment of time, knowledge and the process of elimination of the 'possibilities' via logic based on how it all works together . We all want an instant solution to an issue. Reality check : that may not happen. Now, to know what/where/how to affect a change, one has to at least browse threads like this one. This game is very complex once one peeks 'under the hood'. So not all of the bases are covered, its not perfect? I can see why. Investing my maybe $20 in this game some years ago has taught me a lot, not just how to eliminate zeds. Thanks to all who offer their helpful suggestions!
