Except when the inventory is full.

Ah, that does present a potential problem. So if you can't scrap some items, or really throw out something (some seeds for example) and pick them up shortly there after, then yes, you are up the creek without a paddle. Leave the gyrocopter and run away because your backpack's inventory is more precious than your vehicle?

Doubt that you'll be be making that decision more than once.

I mean, if you're building/upgrading with steel you should probably be sure of what you are building. Lol.

Sometimes we put the cart before the horse....and there's a real reason why that's not a good idea.

Must admit that I've defiled many a pickaxe to take out some poorly placed concrete block though. Best just to start with wood, at most cobblestone, then upgrade accordingly. Takes longer, but the added XP for upgrading in A20 is sweet. And if the block placement is not what you really want, the change isn't too painful.

Now, I can see maybe punching a hole in a steel block wall to insert a rolling door. Can drop a few blocks rather than have to bash them. But when at the building stage of steel, I agree....best know where the building plans are. Or the best explosives for the job.

Take away the upgrade XP in A21, you'll still have learn by doing. Learn that doing goofy things will cost you, just as it does today.

    12 second.

But... I do like the idea of getting out to push to avoid these previous 4 steps.

Fair enough. But if ya get out, push, then try again....what, maybe 4 seconds gained if all goes well? Three steps instead of four. You win. But for thousands of hours played, do those few seconds amount to anything? Nope. Do the thousands of game hours amount to anything? Not much really. Is the gyrocopter an unwieldy contraption? Yes, very much so.

What I would like to see is bandits dropping loot like a player.

So if they are wearing armor and wielding a pistole, that's what they drop.

That is logical. Bandit brandishes those items in a confrontation, then it makes sense for that to be dropped loot. The quality of the loot would still be influenced by rng and our gamestage though. I mean. if the bandit can be taken out with a primitive bow using stone arrows, don't expect steel armor and a level 5 SMG in the loot bag.

I never liked the idea of drones. Having a pet would be great but not at the expense of fps or requiring fewer zombies on screen.

When the drone was introduced, for me it was a matter of "well, that wasn't on my wish list".

I've tried it. Given it a fair chance. The heal-me benefit is nice, especially during a horde battle. But its not become part of my everyday play.

It's been suggested that having skins for the drone might be an option to consider, that is one might have a hovering calico cat or parrot or whatever. But keep it at base. Let it greet you at the door with "How was your interaction with the undead today?" And it can call me Darling or Luv or Sweet Heart instead of Master. Or even Boss (most of us have one, no?). But its a start, so it may develop.

I know, we can't have everything. Where would we put it? The drone can't carry it all.

Sorry Matt, there are no new skeleton props for A21...

Maybe in A22, but no promises.

Hope this subject has been fleshed out enough for the time being.

All seriousness aside, its become bone-dry. Kinda like ziplines imo. Ain't gonna happen any time soon, if ever.

Maybe give it a break for a while.

    Bring it back later?

Don't go away @Matt115, just put your skeletons into a closet for now is what I am suggesting.

Hey, at least I bone-up to the subject.

And with that I know my way out...

  7. Ah yes. The love-hated gyro. I always seem to clip a light pole, often a tree, or some other structure thats over five blocks high on my ascents. And if i am stuck, for me its easier to dismount the wonky contraption, pick it up and then place it for another go at it. That is if there's not some wandering horde on the runway.  It's not the best vehicle for getting away in a hurry in the cities, for sure.

Now, a jetpack would be a lot better. Up, up and away!

In the meantime, I weigh the benefits of driving vs flying. Driving, although not as fast obviously, is usually my choice. Can't stop and raid a bird nest when ya can't even see them. But when I do gyrocopter, its always a gamble. Risk a crash during take-off or hit really hard upon landing? I prefer the motorcycle or 4x4 in vanilla.

I vote for a jetpack. I'd for sure add it if it were a mod.

As an aside, I recall visiting Disneyland as a child. There I watched a jetpack demo. The pilot went up maybe 10 meters (yards). Those mini-turbines were loud! But that was it...just up and down. I'd bet his legs got hot though....🧯

  8. @OTH.IncognitoYeah upping the XP is probably not the best option.  I find that keeping it at 200% or less won't be too much of a bite in the butt IF ya know where to put your skill points. On the other hand, I like to boost the loot bonus. 2X is nice if you are going to sell stuff (cash to buy Traders stuff). 1.5X works nicely as well. Otherwise you'll get there soon enough (but not soon enough, if ya get my meaning).

I have no idea about what A21 will deliver, other than that it's not going to be what we've become used to.  We'll all be in the same kettle when it's released. As for the Duke, well, I'd be surprised if he sticks his neck out in A21.

    Have a good time.

  9. Seems to have been a problem with the mouse. I plugged in the OEM mouse for the laptop and have put a few hours in the game since then. No further issues with click-and-miss.  Issue resolved. Another gaming mouse is on order. 😊

Oh, very nice.  I might suggest it looking more broken.  Something that heavy falling that distance would break apart more.  I understand the desire to have it look good and not like rubble and I know there are limitations in the available blocks, so maybe it's better as it is now.

Perhaps more than one section being collapsed, but that's minor, imo. Good work @HB_H4wk! Now, if I can pull myself away from the game and enter the world of the editor....

    Play, or build a playground?

Would like to get into your builds my friend. Keep it up.

He didn't say an M60 auto-turret (he mentions an auto-flame thrower and auto-sledge)...I believe he means a fixed M60 you place down like a turret but operate it manually.  A machine gun nest.

Cool idea...it'd give a purpose for the M60 for me (I never use them, preferring the Tactical)...I'd place one over my gate.

That was my interpretation also. Nice variant for defending the base.

However, if one would want an M60 auto-turret, there's a mod for that (well, its part of an overhaul - Apocalypse Now).

I have only been playing a couple of months, still trying to get my base designs down right.  Playing on the 10K map size so that I have more areas to explore.

Have fun. There's a lot to learn here (ingame and on the forums). Play vanilla 7dtd for a few hundred (thousand?) hours. Just when you might be thinking "I know how this is gonna go", you may be surprised.

Personally, I find the super-large maps don't offer any gaming experience benefits apart from a lot of travelling, but that's my opinion. Wanna learn how things work? A small map will do. Then, once A21 is released, we'll have new experiences all over again.

Don't feel shamed if you want to turn down the difficulty or even eliminate horde nights for some playthroughs. It's all part of the experience. What ever works for you.

Oh, and regarding the game lore....its not important as yet. It's the behavior of the zombies that want to eat your face that you should be concerned about.

    Welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, I have no idea about this. Hopefully someone else will be able to suggest something.

Ah, @SnowBee. Was hoping you had a solution. I have one non-ergonomic unused mouse on the shelf. Will change it out. Lots of  'copy' peripherals here....maybe its a driver issue. I'll get back with an update.

    Dankie ou maat 😊

  14. So, I have this minor mouse click issue. Since I am using the AN mod, figured it would be best to post here.

I open my inventory. Click on an item. The game responds audibly, but sometimes I have to click again in order to examine an item, or to 'grab' it so that I can move it. Seems that sometimes (I've not found the phenomenon to be predictable) my mouse click on an inventory item doesn't 'take hold'.

Is it because of the increased inventory matrix, in that I haven't clicked the sweet spot within the UI? Or is my mouse timing off?  It happens when dealing with the contents of lootables also.

I will add that the mouse was marketed as wireless, but it came with a cord. So I don't use the wireless option.

It's annoying, that's all. Hasn't gotten me killed. Yet.

    Any ideas?

Great mod though. Lots of fun.

  15. My take on this: the infected do no have to bite. Merely exhale in your general area. We inhale the active virus, then its us that become the infected. The first wave of SARS...we were lucky. Don't know much about the the transmission of it, but if you managed to keep people from close contact, it went away. Or did it? SARS version 2 (Oh, its more soft now...change the wording, we'll call it COVID) is with us today. It's been attributed to more than a million deaths in the USA alone. Its a virus. Whether it makes one apparently rabid isn't the real issue. It's if its going to kill you.

Zombie movies are great, 7DtD is great. But it isn't the real world. We're living a viral attack on our health, our existence now.

But yeah, biting, brain-eating 'zombies' are a nice diversion to reality.

    Survival of the least affected.

    Bring out your dead.

It shouldn't have been inexperience, since he's been playing the game since Alpha 16. I would see it as a bad habit.

Or frenzy. We've all been there...too focused on the the glue to be able to stick another option...yeah, craft it. It's not like we have (mostly) a picture perfect view of our inventory. The game allows us to mess up. And we pay for it.

I still miss stuff (opportunities) and have been involved for longer than A16.  This isn't a chess game, its a 'do what ya think is best at the time' game. Then go, "Oh well that wasn't what I wanted'. Lesson hopefully learned.

Keeps us awake - or imo it should :scared:

I know we can build the fire barrel, but I want just a standard metal barrel or even the group of four for my base.  I like putting certain items in objects that make sense ... Water in the water bubbler, beer in the kegs (even though they say wine).  Having barrels to put my gas cans in would look great in a garage.

While we are on the topic, I'd really like to see all of the objects that are available in the POI editor also available in the game itself to use in our bases.  I don't like using the creative menu to add things as it feels like cheating even if it is just adding decorations.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of having to switch to creative for some 'logical' items either. Then again I enjoy some mods too, so the purists can curl their toes in their steel boots...

I kinda like being able to store fuel in the actual gas pumps myself. But barrels would do nicely as well.

Don't know how to get TFP to consider a select number of additional items we can pull into the game. Would be nice though, I agree.

Oh, I said 'logical' because they make sense to me.  But we know logic is relative in the gaming community.

I hear a potential hail storm...hitting the metal barrels we can someday craft, but alas, only for decoration. Make them unrestricted containers while you're at it. Not a big deal...or maybe it is?

I currently live in downtown Guangzhou, a population of roughly 19 million.  I don't care what skills i believe i have, I am not getting out of this city alive!

Lol. And I'm in downtown Tianjin city. I share your concern. Folk here are generally not into any type of preparedness. Just go out in the morning, buy what you need for the day. Do it again tomorrow. Have experienced enough with mandated virus lockdowns to know that survivors will be your worst enemy. Chaos will ensue quickly once the few area staples are depleted, water and other utilities cease to function. Only authorities are permitted firearms. See where this is going? One might say our goose is cooked, but they prefer duck here. 🦆

as "Superheroes" you have for example: Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Batman. Compare these heroes with Wonder Woman. Then compare Wonder Woman and Emma Woodhouse.

as "Mammal" you have for example: dog, cow, horse. Compare those mammals with a whale. Then compare the whale with a shark.

    😉

    So what?

I get it. Can't compare a shark to a woodlouse. It wastes your time and annoys the shark.

I will for sure.  These changes to crafting are something I am looking forward to in A21.

Nice. But I'm not looking forward to the changes as much as I need to change how I can craft. We'll be here. May be a helluva lot better than we anticipate.  It's the waiting that's palpable....come on TFP. Open up the sluice and let us have something real to she-dog about!
