  1. Since you say hard drive: Is it really a hard drive, not an SSD?
  2. I am not sure myself. But I would like a bit more confirmation than this anectodal evidence. I think @Boidster or @BFT2020 had a script to do that count and probably could be convinced to do that again.
  3. Electric fences for day 14? This is like using a gyrocopter to shoot rabbits! 😁 Seriously, electric stuff is supposed to be advanced stuff. If you use it that early you probably have only 1 or 2 and used a lot of resources for that which could have been spent for rows of basic traps, rows of barbed wire and more wood and cobblestone blocks and even a few concrete. (What many don't know: barbed wire and spike traps have to be put into holes so they are level with the ground. Only then they are effective) Me, I just used the big new water tank poi, destroyed some ladder rungs and added shooting platforms made out of cobblestone and that worked excellent for 4 horde nights now. I don't call it cheesy but using what the world offers me, your mileage may vary. There are a lot of bases one can construct in 7D2D, but which ones are cheesy and which are not is very subjective it seems. Can you tell me which of the following stuff is cheesy for you? 1) ladders with the lowest two rungs missing 2) wood frames as removable bridges 3) narrow corridors the zombies need to go through 4) high up walkways with Sledgeturret 5) Having a back-up base if the first one gets overrun 6) Using POIs and "upgrading" them
  4. Well, that calls for a celebration 🥳🥳🎂 🎶 Happy birthday, little sound bug, happy birthday to youuuuu. 🎶
  5. This is just an idea what it could be though I would expect the game to crash instead of hang: A20 needs more memory than A19. And maybe even has a small memory leak. Furthermore with wine you are using more memory as well and if you have a browser running in the background even more mem is used. Do you have a swap partition or file? If not, try to add one and see if that improves it. Another method to save RAM would be to turn off the new dynamic mesh feature.
  6. In A19 auto-wakeup rooms were relatively seldom. Less than 5%, someone went through the code. I don't know if that ratio changed, but I noticed that I have a much harder time to stay in stealth. Even removing noisy stuff on the floor to avoid making noise ironically wakes up zombies already. And especially shooting at a door to see the zombie behind wakes up the zombie (which it never did in A19). In other words, my problems seem not to come from auto-aggro rooms. Now before we jump to remedies we should really find out, whether the cause of all the new difficulties is A) auto-aggro rooms, B) weaker stealth, or C) activated feral sense (which I thought was only affecting wandering zombies, not sleepers, but maybe I'm wrong?)
  7. Saying it again, logs of both server and client are needed. In the case of not being able to log in the previous logs AND the logs where you can't log in, so 4 altogether. PS: I'm playing on ubuntu 20.4 with vulkan, my server is debian, and I had no problems so far.
  8. Noticed this as well, there are far less opportunities for stealth kills in POIs, but I have feral sense on in my SP game and I thought this was the reason. Do you have feral sense on?
  9. You can. The interface is similar to how quests are shared.
  10. The alternative is that there is something wrong with that server. Try to join other a20 servers and see if you get the same problems or not. And if you do, try to get server and client logs of the sessions were the problem happened. Without logs there is not much this forum can do for you.
  11. What I miss seeing is any mention of having cleared previous data like saves and settings, i.e. the suggestion that is on top of every forum page in blue. 0) (If you want to keep your old worlds and savegames from a19, the ones you probably never will visit again 😉, backup them now to a location far far away) 1) Start the game launcher from steam (you normally should be asked whether you want to start the game or the launcher) 2) click on the tools tab 3) select the last option "clear ..." 4) turn on all checkboxes and execute. To check that it really worked, try to start a new local SP game, you should be asked to select a new player profile.
  12. If in doubt start afresh. 1) Download the game to a directory you made sure is empty. Use the line "app_update 294420 -beta latest_experimental validate" twice 2) Go to that directory, edit serverconfig.xml. Make sure the feral sense line is there 3) Start the game with the script in that directory. Make immediately sure there is now one file output_log__<date> in 7DaysToDieServer_Data\ and date and time are the current date and time. And that file should be growing for a few minutes. 4) Try to connect, use 127.0.0.1 as ip address for this first attempt. 5) If it still doesn't work, post serverconfig.xml and the output_log to this forum, use pastebin for the output_log
  13. Since it stops at a space maybe steam does not like spaces in paths (in linux on the command line spaces in paths need to be escaped or the whole path quoted). Granted you are using windows, but it is worth a try: Use " " around the path and see if it works. Or try a path without spaces. Also you might look into Steam\logs\content_log.txt , it is a log of your steam download session with more details. Also search for errors like "Failed to create ...". It will show up if the path you gave steam could not be used.
  14. In the savegame there is a file drones.dat. Stop the game, delete that file, start the game again and get a new one from creative menue. No guarantees though, I haven't tried this myself. You are the guinea pig 😁
  15. Usually you can get shotgun parts from double-barrels to craft a good combat shotgun early. But I agree, half of the weapon drops should simply be replaced by 1-3 parts dropping.
  16. I agree. And there were a few protests from forum users when this change was announced. But it wasn't really enough to stop it,
  17. But if TFP adds options those options may also not be exactly what you want.
  18. An interesting system I have seen in RPG loot generators is this: You have lists of items separated by level. And the last entry in every list is special because it instead transports you to the next higher list to get an item from there. Now if you are especially lucky you hit the last entry of that higher list again. And so on and on until you are on the highest list. That way you have a chance at getting even highest end gear, but the chance is really really low at the start. By the way, in older alphas you could get the best items in the game even on day 1, naturally with a low probability. But it still happened too often for a good balance. So they removed that for A19 but there the first two weeks had hundreds of safes and boxes with stone shovels and blunderbusses and a lot of other players complained. So now it seems they changed it back so that you have chances to find anything in the game again. We will have to see if it is too much. Or if biome+POI bonuses are too much If they "gave people what they are asking for" they would immediately bring back A19 farming. 😄
  19. Players were asking TFP to add teleporters for years. Now they got them and everyone complains again ? 😁
  20. Yes, they definitely know. No need to repeat it, people were asking for options all those years, though everyone for a different one 😉 But an official option means the developer has to maintain and test and at least marginally balance all combinations of options. So (I may be imagining this, but I think that) developers are very careful and conservative with adding options. Meanwhile TFP provided all the options you could ever get and more through modding. And they have and surely will add more options, but carefully selected and the later the better (for them). I wish they would make the difficulty setting change more stuff than just relative damage between players and zombies. Minimally loot percentage should go down at higher difficulties. But if it ever comes it will probably in the last phase of development shortly before going gold.
  21. Includes traders. Though I was very slow getting a bike so I had just one trader and only recently branched out to the next.
  22. For me infections biggest danger are the stamina debuffs and max health loss. In the early game you can die fast if stamina goes out in inappropriate moments. And sometimes you waste a lot of time hunting for honey to just delay the infection instead of really curing it. In my current SP game antibiotics became available in week 3, before that I had to do with honey and one single herbal. As I was using knife for melee I was hit more often than I liked and additionally vultures proved hard to hit.
  23. No. I meant exactly "woodHalfRampStairs50". Your string is surely the name that same block has in A20 now. The file you are locking at seems to be from A20 If you can, make a copy of all the files you can access on your server to local disk and then use a search utility to search for "woodHalfRampStairs50". The only places where you should find that string are in Data/Config/BlockUpdates.csv, in Data/Prefabs/Test/aaa_art_deco_stuff.blocks.nim and in Data/Config/Localization.txt . If the string is anywhere else we may have found the problem
  24. If you can access the game directory on their servers you can check yourself if the files are correct there. Download Data/Prefabs/POIs/store_grocery_01.blocks.nim and search for the string "woodHalfRampStairs50". If that string is in there then that file is from A19. And if there are A19 files in a directory that is supposed to be from A20 then this IS either a steam issue or a issue of how they updated the files through steam or their server layout, but not a TFP issue. Because I downloaded TPF's files from steam and this string isn't in that file anymore.
  25. I'm sure the math is right as a lot of people checked the calculations. It is quite simple: With no LotL never convert produce to seed as you will probably lose food But with only one point in the perk you will already gain food on average if you convert produce to seeds.
