  1. Just a bad day, or are you running some form of Black Propaganda / Streisand Effect -ad campaign for A20 or some such...?
  2. Ehh, krhm.. "FBI! OPEN UP!!" ... also known as "concepts I wouldn't mix" 😆
  3. Did you just try to make us google for child porn? That'll look good on a, say, teacher's search history. Or do you realize that the acronym can be used for non-offending purposes even while trying to refer to the thing that feels offensive...? OK, I did read the rest of the thread as well, but still...
  4. I'm working under the assumption that madmole hasn't changed his mind about the skill trees being "feature complete". Thus, this far I haven't bothered trying to craft an actual idea. That in mind, a "small tweaks" version popped to my mind over this discussion; without further ado. Core point is "give the player Something that feels like it relates to the Attribute from the attribute." As in, make STR give something that feels natural to a strong person. That might require scrapping the weapon-specific headshot multiplier and dismemberment from Attributes. Balance it out in base damage or other skills. Or keep it in, but it doesn't really feel that "sane". I'm putting my draft into a spoiler, just to point out: don't waste your time here, there's nothing to be gained from reading this.. I just had to put it on paper
  5. How would Roland "doubt he knows about it" if Roland had seen him use it?
  6. Go right ahead, others will disagree and I'll just stare at the fight in disbelief ... meta-comments
  7. I might not be Liesel, but... partly because they are. There's an attribute called Perception, and another called Agility. They're the same skill, except one applies to long barrels and long handles, while the other applies to short barrels and short handles.. it's not exactly the most intuitive design around those names. I understand the process that lead us here, but the end result is still like pineapple on a pizza.
  8. Well, they do happen IRL, so they don't need to be demonic? And I'd bet an eyeball that it's not the moon that changes color IRL. Quite likely the atmosphere between us, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to assume some kind of massive pollutant clouds traveling the globe causing both the coloration and the zed rage. Send in enough ground troops to wipe out the population, as in millions? Or send in one vial of viral matter in a pressurised bottle? DNA is practically software code, if you've learned to modify it well enough, you might be able to rewrite an ecosystem. Maybe to start producing some of the compounds your species needs, or just to wipe out the competition or.. whatever
  9. How's that worse, that's 60% ammo consumption, instead of the 50% at my 90 HP example..? With increasingly high HP, the skills will work closer to their stated effect. NukemDed was using a min-max example to show that "the skills don't matter", I was just pointing out that it wasn't even remotely fair an assessment ...
  10. I don't have any issues using a weaker weapon, but I usually don't find any need to either. The only case would be when low on ammo, which is not really an issue even in the early game; much less at the stage where you have mostly specced your main weapon - you'll be able to produce/buy your own ammo for it. Anyway, that example is just .. minmaxing. All you need is a zed with 90 hp and you've literally halved your ammo consumption in the same example. The targets do have somewhat varied HP, so for each edge case there's also the opposite edge case, making the skills do roughly what they claim on average.
  11. I got the idea, I just try to keep the "information on the forums" clean. The idea isn't bad, that's kinda how it was for a while, but I just didn't have much to say about it ...
  12. That sounds a little like you've misunderstood the main attributes. They list the final total of the headshot damage, going from 200% to 300%, giving an actual damage increase of +50% at 10/10, and that ONLY to headshots. That's well in line with the weapon specific perks giving +50% at 5/5, with other goodies baked in.
  13. I don't know what he means and I'm not entirely sure what it is myself, but comparing the gunplay to other games; there is something that just feels really clunky. It's something you can "learn around", as in once you get the hang of it, it doesn't really bother you - so I wouldn't exactly call it bugged. But coming back from a break always feels really odd for the first little while. I might try to figure it out for myself in the near future, been eyeing my Doom on steam for a while now..
  14. There's plenty of uses, the cost is just a tad high. - Need to excavate an underground garage? Dig a few holes, place a few tnt, clean up a bit. - Need a tunnel to bedrock? Keep dropping some dynamite, you'll get there. And a few screamer waves for entertainment. - Want that apartment building to stop blocking your sunsets? Nothing more satisfying than a controlled explosion taking out the bottom floor from below. - Zombies breached your perimeter wall? With a couple of rockets you can turn that section of the wall into a moat. Will work with dynamite too. Might not plug the breach, but at least it was bloody entertaining. - Not entirely sure if your horde bridge setup is going to work? Pre-place a few explosives, if it doesn't work, you can remove the error and the threat in one go.
  15. When they break, there's another layer of 1k beneath the first. That's not consistent across block types, but for iron, the second layer is about as valuable as the first.
  16. For a semblance of realism, the HP ammo could be given exaggerated stopping power. From the real life concept of; If a bullet actually penetrates a target, it carries some of its force with it, while an expanding round that stops inside a soft target delivers the entire force to that target. In game terms that would mean increased chance of knockdowns, which could be handy in some situations; even in horde nights if you have something to knock zeds down from. Although I don't think even an actual 100% stun chance would get me to use them with the 0 damage downside. Maybe if it didn't trigger demos (because of course it does, zero damage and still the demo goes brr^H^H^H^H boom... )
  17. I think it's intentional, but now that I think of it, I'm not sure if I've seen an official opinion on it. I may have just fallen to my cynicism, the armor/damage reduction system is a little too simplistic IMO, which leads to exactly this.. two times fifty is 100, and that's that. ... eexactly
  18. That part definitely shouldn't happen, and I don't doubt you, the SI system is .. it's complicated. Also colloquially known as "bugged". But for the "whole roof to collapse" - part, that can easily be "as intended", depending on your exact setup. The key parts of the SI system are the sides of the "supported" blocks. A roof can weigh exactly as much as those faces can carry and be fine. The "hard to grasp" part of the support is that support comes from all sides. If you have a dirt block that can carry 2 of itself per side, having one as a support pillar - as in carrying a roof on all its sides - it provides support for exactly eight blocks (4 sides, 2 blocks each). That happens to be the weight of a 3x3 roof with the support pillar in the middle. So, with Only using support pillars, you'll need one for every 3x3. If building symmetrically, that means you'll need them to have only two free blocks between. One every third block. If you're digging, you'll have support from the side walls as well. But the proportion of that support will diminish the larger your pit becomes. That allows you to have no issues with "4 blocks between" for a long while, but eventually you'll run into a limit. Not to mention, some blocks are inherently "more important", for example corners. A corner will provide two faces of carry capacity, and only attach to one block, so for dirt that's three extra carry. You'll lose those three if you take out the corner, and are more likely to cause a collapse. EDIT: replied to a now edited post. Sorry..
  19. @Boidster , you wouldn't happen to be on 19.4 b6 or older - they fixed the AP / armor issue in b7. That was in January, (whoa, time files), but, that would be the easiest explanation.
  20. Issue located. Clay, as in dirt or top soil, carries very little. I think the third hanging block will collapse; I haven't checked for a while. You'll need to dig into the stone layer and have a stone roof, then you're pretty golden. At that depth, only gravel will be a pain, might want to avoid areas where you see it. You can cause a collapse under stone, but if you're used to dealing with dirt roofs, you'll be absolutely fine..
  21. Mine was nomad, I use that for testing since the numbers actually match there.. Tested on default now, same result, 0 damage - seems a little easier to knock down thou Normal soldiers, level 5 pistol (had it in my bar from earlier), no skills. 19.4 b7
  22. Huh.. that's my current color as well; I literally spent a couple clips of 9mm HP re-stunning a soldier While writing that comment. It didn't take a point of damage.
  23. Tips vs gunpowder.. both are 100% mineable, so, not really that big a deal to choose between. You'll just spend a little more time in a different mine.. As for the effect, the AP ammo is IMO the general winner. The cases where HP is better are limited; soft targets and limited numbers. Usually those conditions mean you're not in any danger. While running around with HP in your gun means you'll do exactly zero damage on soldiers, that might become an issue fast. I mean, sure, they're fun to knock around while ammo lasts, but I don't think that's what you want from your ammo usually ... Of course, if and when you design your defenses to not support AP, you'll be better off with HP. But even then the amount of rounds you'll need for the soft targets isn't all that different, just a round or two on most targets.
  24. Just debugging in my head, but does the dedi require something "extra", like a steam 'client', which it would boot up, but fail to connect to on first boot? Just tossing it out here since it crossed my mind..
