  1. Yeah, I kill the non glowies with the bow, or crossbow, then depending on what the glowy is, I'll use an iron arrowhead or the pistol. Cops, and Feral anything use the pistol if I don't have iron arrowheads or can't see their head for a clear shot.
  2. Actually, I'd prefer the last level of Tracker to let you to track Z's like you do in the kill quests.
  3. It just takes patience, I hunt the same way Meganoth does. The reason the prey is moving away is because of your noise, or the Z's noise, what works good is if you approach the prey pushing it towards a Z, then once it hits the detect range, (it detecting the Z, not the other way around, it'll run back towards you.) That's another reason I clear the area of grass, trees and rocks around where my base is, you can see the rabbits/chickens/snakes/crawlers so much easier. And insane mode, well that's your choice bud, personally I play games to have fun and de-stress not to go, well, insane, well no more then I already am. Even a primitive bow with its arc you need to figure in, and you too can kill chickens and rabbits, and yes Z's too. Early game you don't even need the bonus to stealth damage only the "chunkier" Z's won't go down with 1 hit from a stone arrow, and deer you just gotta hit the head. You know what we need Mega? Target butts. No, not that kind of butt you Snowdog you, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archery_butt That way you can practice the arc, ofc, sometimes the arrows wobble off course but that's rng for you.
  4. When you shoot them, I try to mark landmarks or general features that stand out, because yes, when they did they fall into the grass and can be lost. I also try to kill the Z's before because if the Z's wander too close the animal will usually run away, and I don't want more of that.
  5. The spear is great thrown, or if you have a good defensive position between you and the Z, otherwise the clubs and upgraded clubs, baseball bats, etc are better for the Z is in your face nomming on you. I've been growing to like the fist weapons, not so much the knuckle dusters, but the brass knuckles and steel knuckles, but I still don't like getting that close to the Z's as my twitch gaming is not the best. The primitive bow is just that, I wish we could make a tracking arrow to follow the path better, I do fairly well with it, but sometimes the distance arcs give me trouble, unlike the crossbow, but it just doesn't load quite as fast as I like, especially since I use stone arrows because I don't like losing the other arrows.
  6. Like in the Darkness Falls mod, some of the vehicles have alarms on them, now I loot the vehicles last.
  7. He does a lot of Milspeak, well typing, lol. But just the base 4 books are good, I'll also recommend the Black Tide books that he had co-authors on. I've got them on kindle and in paperback. You might also look at the Troy Rising series based on the fact that you liked the Legacy of the Aldenata, (Posleen War). First book in Troy is Live Free or Die. His series The Council Wars goes more of a mix between medieval and high tech sci fi. First book there is There Will Be Dragons. Hell I like pretty much anything John Ringo, and Brandon Sanderson not too far behind him.
  8. That's real life, my wife's home town has like 5 churches and at least that many pubs centered around the college.
  9. I'll direct you to John's Ringo's Black Tide series. The first book is Under a Graveyard Sky. And yes, Boats.
  10. Or a few pipe bombs, or is it TnT that blows the ground away? Yeah, we need a kinetic force element other then the junk sledge as Gazz so helpfully mentioned. Note to self, don't party with Gamida or Gazz.
  11. Oh, you just had to go there......... I do, and I gripe at my buddies when they don't crouch as well. I haven't gone so far as to make the stairs up where you have to crouch to get through.... yet.... But I've thought about it.
  12. I've played off and on since 2016, and I'm at almost 4k hours. It's the standard I judge all Zombie/open world survival games on, and I've certainly gotten my $20 out of it, unlike a few other of my purchases, lol. I'd say give it a try, and even if you aren't happy with it now, who knows how A20 or the release after that will change things.
  13. Maybe also like treasure hunter lowers search radius for buried treasure you could have a "reputation" stat or skill with the traders, that would make them set up nearer to where you are.
  14. I don't particularly enjoy it, no, but it's part of the game, and unlike the blood moon or gps Zombies, I can deal with it, with little to no issues. Like many things in the game it forces us to make choices, keep that brass trophy, candelabra, and radiator or scrap then to 1 pile of brass and lose 25% of the whole? I try to avoid putting points in pack mule, just because they are not needed as long as you are making choices. A drop box here, a drop box there, and once I get vehicles or heavens bless me and a I find a pocket mod, or the way to make them, I'm keeping my enc low. I agree it's not the best system, but imo, it's better then Conan or Valheim.
  15. Chain for less swings, I put the grip on my bow or tools that I use repeatedly. I only want to swing once, twice at the most, because hopefully I've already hit it from stealth with the bow.
  16. It's all clay, well clay and then rocks and sand, and now it does not match fully to blocks, it leaves an annoying gap for those of us with OCD. You can upgrade wood to r wood, to cobble, to concrete, then to r concrete. Concrete blocks are made in the mixer but if time is the essence, the rebar is the best as you only have to wait for it to dry once. I think your attributes contribute to more HP and Sta, and death will reset your food and water gauge I think but not max health. Critical Hits will reduce max health, but someone else more in the know will probably need to elaborate. Personally, I try really hard not to die, so I don't think about it that much. Plots, no fertilizer anymore. You can't get 2 crops without the perks, but no need to replant either, the perks do unlock the ability to turn the finished item (mushrooms, potato, corn, pumpkin, etc into the appropriate seeds). Not sure about the last question, somebody else will need to answer, good luck and welcome to pc!
  17. kk, I'll need to try this with a 100% player made structure too, I think the blocks on the poi are full blocks, whoever designs them needs to take less drugs sometimes.
  18. Is that with a player made roof then? What materials did you make it out of? I was in a POI with a concrete roof, and I still saw rain coming in and was getting wet while inside, but again that was a POI. I need to reinforce the concrete and see if that works or if I can build a 2nd roof over the top to test that out.
  19. Are you getting out and looking? I've normally swimming in corn before I can start growing it, and on low loot settings as well. Be sure to check garbage bags and trash piles, those are my #1 source for seeds. Potatoes and eggs are my stopping block normally, but whenever you can clear grass from the sides of the roads to look for the plants and nests. And around residences, some of those have gardens, but most of the jerks liked Yucca and Blueberries.....
  20. We just talk about it, or look around the base. I tend to be the looter, so I've got 3 dedicated dump boxes that I'll sort through every other day. The exception to what goes in the gun box ofc, is what is "critical" Food, Ammo and any books or needed crafting supplies.
  21. I checked and was at game stage 39 right after the encounter.
  22. just had 2 Z bears and 5 dogs attack me as I was getting ready to head out for the day's looting, I was totally unprepared, so I ran back up to my main base (day 16, nothing fancy, but mostly cobblestone on top of one of the big rocks, and started blasting with my 2 blunderbusses. Killed 4 of the 5 dogs in one hit, but the other one slipped away and ran up my run up ramp and made a 3 wide jump to land next to me. No big deal, I've got a club, except he knocked me off my perch to the ground.... WTF? Got hit by a bear twice before I was able to run to my kill base and pull the frames up so he could not follow, then proceeded to kill them, even though my kill base was still a bit messed up from the day 14 horde. I won with about 38 health.
  23. Absolutely love the new lighting, and the HD Models, the crawler is freaking AWESOME! Hate, early game food scavenging, it detracts from the rest of the game when all you do is scavenge for food. I used to be happy when I found a wrench or acid in sinks, now I'm like meh, where is my canned food. I used to yell at the other players when they ate their starter can of chili or moved the can of salmon from the crafting box to the ready to eat box, now.... Now I'm being quiet and eating what I find.
  24. I want my wooden bow! Seriously though, I'm the agi / per guy for the group. I've got LL 3 and one of the guys gave me the goggles, I've found 4 level 6 stone spears, a lvl 6 primitive bow, and 2 purple stone sledges. Also have found qual 2 hunting rifle, fire axe and pistol, as well as a qual 3 ak. Next I'll be putting points into lockpick as well. Already have been buying the candy We've got a 3 man group 2 of us with spears and the 3rd with a sledge with that we cleared the red mesa base which is were we found the yellow AK, among other stuff.
