Hello forum!

After playing for some time with Valmod Overhaul, I've got "NullReferenceException: object reference not set to an instance of an object" and "Setting and getting IK Goals ,Lookat and BoneLocalRotation should only be done OnAnimatorIK or OnStateIK" in console.

Log has "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

at EntityNPC.OnUpdateLive () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at EntityAlive.OnUpdateEntity () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at World.TickEntities (Single _partialTicks) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at GameManager.Update () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0" message.

To fix this I used "listents le" command and "kill (id)" some entyties around me (ZombieJason was one of them, but killing it alone not solve the problem).

I've got save with errors if there is someone who needs it.

It seems that you have same kind of problem that I have, thought I didn't get the latter error.

Yes, killing surrounding zombies didn't help me either, maybe game tries to spawn that entity that gives the error.

But I don't really know, I hope these modders around here could help to fix our saves. :)

not sure but seems some how your file was corrupted? I would Reinstall overhual back into your folder. Over write as needed. SHOULD fix problem for you... Are you on SP or MP? Can you link the outputlog.txt file? that might help valmar a bit.

I did reinstall but that didn't fix the error. I'm on SP.

Why would outputlog.txt be any help, I already posted the error lines.

Is there other lines that would make a difference?

So this must be vanilla bug?

Would savefile/-folder be any help? Also, is there any other way to fix the save?

 

You might be able to delete the specific region you are in within the map's save location. Though first would be better to see if you can replicate this problem in singleplayer or a new map first to confirm its just the save itself.

 

What version are you on?

 

I still love this mod.

 

One small problem though: the expanded cooking doesn't work for me anymore (alpha 15.1)

No boiling recipes are working now, it keeps saying 'bowl of water required' - no matter how many bowls of water i'm carrying...

 

Recipes with the bowl of water in the recipe grid are still working (eg the creamed corn or bowl of ramen)

 

The bowl of water is a cooking tool, not just an ingredient. Put the bowl of water in the campfire toolslot to same way you would a grill or pot.

The bone rotation thing is normal, nothing to worry about there. Not sure what the null reference could be related to though. I cannot replicate the problem no matter how many times I try. It works fine for me, no issues with Jason whatsoever. Since I cannot replicate it I cannot troubleshoot or fix it. Seeing the entire outputlog on pastebin might help, though.

i'm using your mod on me pve-server. I'm a bit surprised, why the wood spikes give skill points to misc crafting and not to traps. Is that intentional? Thanks for a short answer. :)

Or it could be a game bug.

But I thought I'd let you know, since it only happens to your class selection briefcase.

 

When selecting your class at the beginning, it can be possible to dupe the items.

To do this, place the briefcase and unlock it.

Then open it, and rapidly press R (or default "take all" key), while the countdown timer is still going.

You will get the items in your inventory, and sometimes (2/5 tries), another set of items will explode all over the floor, which you can then pick up.

 

Also, it's possible to accidentally place the case on a grass block and then it explodes. Lol

But that's nothing to do with your mod, I know.

 

I've heard of similar bugs even with zombies in vanilla. Either way, theres nothing I can really do to stop that in any practical sense. Resist the urge to spam press R - or don't reload and try again if it doesn't dupe items on the ground. LOL.

Just started using this and found this item as loot. Not sure if it was from a zombie or in a container.

Imgur. Just seems like the name may not be intended.

 

That is something you get for destroying a trash can. You can craft garbage bags to use on it to sorta act as a trash collector to empty the loot within. Either way I'll adjust the localization issue in the future, thank you.

I can't get your mod working on linux for single player, I got missing UI textures with big question marks.

 

I've done a clean install of 7 days and reapplied your mod and still get the missing textures, so I deleted the 7 days profile from .local/share/ then wiped the 7 days content from steam and re-downloaded and re-applied your mod and still no go.

Sorry for the empty post.

 

I was gonna say the problem is gone but it's not that simple.

It appears that my base is somehow bugged.

If I save game inside my base, quit game, clear cache and then load my save, error sometimes appear.

If I do the same outside of my base no error will occur.

 

Very interesting, I need to do some more testing. :)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the Path have to look like "Mods/SMX/Textures/UnitFrames/staminabarempty.png" for linux. so you have to manually change this in all files where you got a path from the mod.

Did you remember to merge the 7DaysToDie_Data folder and launch without EAC? You need the modified assembly-csharp.dll for it to work.

 

If you are able to launch with EAC on then its not installed correctly. Otherwise see if it works in a new game.

 

Hmmm... I merged them I think... but didnt alter a DLL file... so that might be it...

we first tried the latest Overhaul now... without backpack... coming back to that :p

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the Path have to look like "Mods/SMX/Textures/UnitFrames/staminabarempty.png" for linux. so you have to manually change this in all files where you got a path from the mod.

 

Yeah I just noticed that in the xml files, I tried to change them to forward slashes but it didn't work or I screwed up. there was @http alternative option commented out for each problem texture, I went ahead and use that and now my ui is fixed.

Casino Tokens

 

Huge thanks for the mod!

 

With the recent update I can't figure out where to spend the casino tokens. My usual race to use the merchant delivery box to complete the auger and chainsaw as soon as I can but not only is there not the option to buy these parts yet (assuming it comes after putting points in barter) but I can't use the tokens with the box or NPCs. What am I missing?

What do you mean? Do vendors act like you have no money even with casino coins in your inventory? I'm not sure, I didn't change the way money works in-game. So its probably a vanilla issue.

 

Hi there, could you clarify how you get the icons to work? I think I got most textures working by going through and using absolute paths. Still no luck with the icons. :(

 

Changing the XUI files to point to the "MAC address" I have commented in the files should help with that. Linux and MAC apparently handles the Mods folders different in terms of the UI. Or something.

Its possible, yes. But not easy. Might as well say no its not possible, unless you're very comfortable with the XML files and have experience modifying the UI. Practically speaking, no. Technically speaking, yes.

Thanks for your quick response! Yes, I was able to get the textures working by changing the paths in the XUI files. The issue is actually the item icons for me. Might you know which game file, if any, references the icon .PNGs in the mod folder? Perhaps I need to edit that with absolute paths like I did for the textures.

I don't get why people like to play these kind of games with high/limitless backpack, since inventory management is one of the key features of survival games. 32 slots backpack is already too big and items stacks are unrealistic.

 

Btw, Valmar, I'm still receiving same error randomly, but it helps if I move a bit farther away from the spot where the error started and restart computer to remove cache.

( Is there any other way to remove cache? I tried purging ram but it didn't help. )

But still the error always appear when there are zombies nearby, that's only clue I have.

Honestly I'm not sure what the problem could be - hence why I cannot replicate it. You could try deleting your config folder and then reinstalling the mod to ensure you absolutely have everything and something wasn't failing to overwrite. Or a new map - though thats hardly ideal.

 

If you knew what region of the map is "bad" you could perhaps delete that region data from the save game to make it refresh. Thats fixed some issues in the past where traders randomly decide to never open up - It might help here too.

 

Purely speculation on my part though.

It's not a specific area, it randomly happens when zombies spawn around me and I already told how I'm able to stop it. :)

 

All files are correct and I haven't modified anything.

Maybe it's just a vanilla bug and will go away after updates.

 

But anyway, another thing came to my mind after I made several hundreds of bullets. The recipe doesn't require tumbler, although armory has such tool slot, I also checked the file and there are no recipes that require tumbler at all. Is this intended?

 

I also removed several silly recipes, those gunpowder and bullet tip ones that require a bullet,

these will dismantle a bullet but gives only 1 resource.

I would rather use the other "dismantle recipe" that gives "a book" that gives all resources.
