  1. Honestly, I just want an AI that requires me to put in some effort and try new things to make them go where I want. Now, it's so simple that you could have the structure of a horde base that can take on any horde on Day 1. You might need to upgrade the materials, but when all you need is a double wall to control where the zombies go, it's just way too easy.
  2. If the magazines exist, I must max them. I'm a compulsive completionist. Also, I'd like to be able to craft everything. I know, I'm a weirdo. I also play with loot respawn off, so no re-looting mailboxes. I'm on Day 19 in my current game and I've got all the really relevant magazines maxed out (I don't have machine guns maxed out, but I got a q6 M60 from a trader tier reward...would still really like to max out bows), but I find that the rate at which I acquire magazines really slows down after the first couple weeks because I've hit all the good book POIs I'm aware of. That's what really makes it take so long, is that sources of books become much more rare (or require more travel time) the older the world is. There are also mod recipes that I'd really like that I don't have yet (Customized Fittings and Rad Remover in particular.)
  3. Back before A21, I use to spend maybe the first couple weeks looting, and then the vast majority of the rest of my time building (often another 3-4 weeks). After A21, I have to keep looting for much longer (5-6 weeks or so to max out every magazine) instead of doing what I want to be doing, which is building large bases. With your suggestion, I'd have to spend even more time looting to get the whatever it is I'd need from the high tier chemical lab to repair. Similarly with having to go to wasteland cities or high tier POIs. Regardless, I've been playing since A16, and until A21 it wasn't a "scavenging based apocalypse survival game" it was more a sandbox apocalypse survival game. I could largely ignore POIs after the first couple weeks and be fine. With the changes in A21 and your suggestions, I'd have to spend much more time looting POIs (and POIs in places I don't care to go), taking even more choice away from the player than has already been removed. Basically, with the changes you seem to be suggesting, I'd never have time to do stuff like this because I'd need to spend a lot more time looting.
  4. Okay, cool. Just wasn't sure how rare they're supposed to be. Like I said, not a big deal. Thanks for letting me know!
  5. I've also got Better Barter 5. But A22 changed it so Daring Adventurer increases your Trader Stage, Better Barter just gets you better buying/selling prices. Working on getting Jen up (unlocked level 4 quests.) It's not really a big deal, I have plenty of water. I've got 10 buckets whenever I want more (I've scrapped every other bucket I've found) so it's not really an issue. Just wondering if maybe something I was/wasn't doing was effecting my ability to find Water Filters
  6. Just because it's standard at this point does not mean it is excusable. Irresponsible consumers are welcome to waste money on terrible games that either never get fixed/finished, but they've severely damaged the industry for people that expect quality products. Yes, we live in a society where consume product and get excited for next product is the norm, but that doesn't mean we should just accept it. Unless people push back against the problems, they'll just continue to get worse. Note I'm not talking about 7DTD here, just in general about the games industry. There's a reason I've gone from buying dozens of games every year to buying maybe 2 or 3 (and usually ones that have been out for several years and are under $10 for the complete game), and it's not because of the economy.
  7. Still have to submit a version to Sony/Microsoft for final approval. And significant Day 1 patches shouldn't be a thing. A game should be as bug free as possible at release. Early adopters of released games becoming beta testers is one of the terrible things that has become common in the industry.
  8. Just curious, but I've unlocked T6 quests with Hugh, have 4 points in Daring Adventurer, and I still haven't seen any water filters for sale. Are they locked behind something more than that, or have I just been very unlucky?
  9. This would enforce even more the looting playstyle. As someone who, prior to A21, wouldn't hardly do any looting after day 14 or so (maybe 1 POI every 3 days at most), I would hate this. I already have to spend more time looting than I want to. Putting stuff in high tier POIs only is a problem too, as I don't like T5 POIs. They're long and not sufficiently rewarding for the effort. I find them dull and tedious. Also, I usually don't even have Wasteland in my map, because it's just wasted space to me, as I never want to go there. It's just too ugly. The only time I ever willingly go to the wasteland is if I'm going zombie bear hunting because I need more rotten flesh for farm plots. Basically, your ideas would take even more choice of playstyle away from the player, and TFP have already done enough of that in the last few alphas.
  10. I wasn't going to comment, but I can't let this pass. A16 was the most fun base building for me because it let me try things to see if I could get the zombies to do what I wanted. Now there is no try, I know exactly how the zombies will behave, and this is much more boring to me.
  11. I'm outraged, I tell you, outraged! If I'd waited until now to buy the game I could have saved a whole dollar! Who cares that I've got over 2000 hours played, I demand a refund! 😛 (This is a joke, in case anyone missed it.)
  12. Are you referring to vtubers? If they're ones that are with a company, I'm pretty sure they're required by contract to have their avatar on the screen. Often adds for merch as well. Vtubers that aren't with a company probably have them there because it's part of their brand. If it's just random people that put animated avatars on screen, I have no idea, I've never seen anything like that before.
  13. As someone who used to have a similar playstyle, the water isn't a huge issue. I play solely singleplayer, but I usually build 36 dew collectors. Magazines are a bigger issue. You'll probably have to spend close to 2 months in game looting if you want to get all of them.
  14. I'm a weirdo in these parts in that I couldn't care less that this is a zombie game (honestly, I think it would be better if it wasn't because semi-smart enemies would make sense then, and you could make enemies do almost anything and have a valid reason for it) and I don't like horror movies (so the horror movie POIs don't register for me.) That said, there was a POI in A16 that was kind of a standalone brownstone that had a store at the bottom and then an apartment above (there were 2 variations, one of which was missing a corner of the second floor) and I really miss that building. It was my starter home of choice (I'd build on the roof, add a new roof, knock out the stairs and it was just perfect) but it disappeared in A17 if I'm remembering correctly, and I've always wanted it back. So that's the POI I'd like to see.
  15. I imagine it was either this, or they didn't want to pull an Ark and sell DLC before the game was out of alpha. Here's a 12 years post for you.
  16. Well, if there's a reason to go there I don't mind having those biomes. But I just don't find them particular compelling at the moment, so I never go there, and hence don't use them because they would just end up as wasted space on the map. Thanks for the answer!
  17. Does this mean that traders are restricted to certain biomes? I usually make maps without Wasteland (I never go there, so there's no point in it being on the map) and I'll likely make maps without Burnt Forest as well. Would this mean I would lose access to certain traders, or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?
  18. That would be really cool. I'd be behind that. Not so much the axe thing (I'd just use a T6 crafting mod, as those requirements are way too annoying and might eventually require doing T5s which I just have no desire to do.)
  19. As long as the basics (water filters, honey/antibiotics) didn't require bartering specific items, it'd be okay, I guess. Not sure how it would make questing less op or exploration more incentivized (unless you restricted loot to specific POIs.) Granted, I don't generally buy anything other than filters and recipes/magazines from the traders.
  20. I can already do that. The zombies aren't really a threat, more of an annoyance. Granted, I bought the game mostly for the building and tower defense aspects. I actually don't like FPS games at all.
  21. If you just wanted to explore and build, it would be fine to turn it off. I've often considered turning off all zombies except for horde nights, because I don't particularly see any benefit to them during the rest of the week.
  22. Might be caused if you got dropped from the server basically immediately after logging in. I know in single player if you exit the game before the quest pops (which takes some pretty quick reflexes, admittedly) when you try and go back into the game, you don't get the quest. Never played multiplayer, but I imagine the same sort of thing happens.
  23. I've used random POIs as starter bases, but since I primarily enjoy building, using one as a permanent base wouldn't be that fun for me unless I basically ripped it apart and completely rebuilt it. That said, while I do occasionally get unsuspected blocks broken doing things like that, they're never anything critical. All you have to do is block off the top of a staircase, and the zombies are basically done for, assuming they have no other way to get to you. As for not using blocks that create falls, I usually avoid them. Pretty much the only time I use them is when I want to create a zombie blender where they fall through a dozen or so blade traps after I knock them off/ragdoll them. I could theoretically have more challenge by doing a base with no traps, but then that's not really tower defense any longer either, is it? I want bases that will fail. But I want it to be because my design didn't work, not because I built it to fail.
  24. I could see this happening on a server with a number of people on it, where the zombie cap was already reached, so when you logged in it couldn't spawn any zombies near you. Though if the other players were killing zombies (definitely not guaranteed) I'd think you'd slowly get some to spawn.
  25. I was mostly referring to the set items and apparently having the bonus numbers randomized (though that was a long time ago they talked about that and I don't know if that's still the plan.) I was mostly thinking of farming for "perfect" items, which I suppose you can already do now to an extent. Diablo was mostly the first thing that came to mind where you can try and farm the same items over and over hoping for a better version to drop.
