  1. Not going to debate things here, but my gut tells me there's a story in the works that has been for years. We get that note when we start. The Duke gave it to us. We did something for him and he's supposed to contact us. My gut also tells me that bandits are a precursor to this guy and his men working properly and said story being implemented. Once bandits work, they can do quests and armed NPCs for this Duke. If not, why give us a note stating we owe a mystery NPC and never do anything about it?
  2. We're using the new chunk reset system and have it set to thirty days (once a month). As such, I have a few questions before I mess up. Our base has an LCB and we are there daily. This should prevent a reset of said chunk. We also have four beds in the base, so that also prevents it from my understanding. We are looking to pave a road to the highway from our base which would be used almost every day. If we drive on this road every few days at a minimum, will that prevent the chunk from being reset, or will we lose our road one day? I ask because the release notes mention not visiting an area for so long causing it to reset, but what if we visit daily despite there being no LCB or bed in said chunk? This brings up another question. Mobile home parks and other POIs next to a major road. If we drive past them regularly despite not entering them, does this prevent them from resetting?
  3. So how do you get solar cells if it is removed now?
  4. It is a game option on the menu now. If you are on a dedicated server it is in the configuration file for the server and will require a server restart once changed.
  5. Do the humvee and semi only have a single acceleration sound? Neither changes gears on my end. We have the start sound (love the air start on the old semi), an idle sound, and then one long, drawn out acceleration sound until top end is reached. They drive wonderfully, have deceleration sounds also, and do so much better off-road than the stock jeep, but I found this odd. Now we need TFP to add turret code so those humvees can have a .50 up top! Boy that'd be OP as heck on a horde night!
  6. No problem. Thank you very much for your hard work. I absolutely love the helicopters and as a class A CDL holder, the semi looks rad. I got the humvee for my friends to use in place of the jeep. Your semi reminds me of the one in the movie "Duel". Just move the air filters up in front of the doors and it would be eerie how much it would resemble the movie truck! Thanks again!
  7. I tried the semi and humvee in A21 b324 last night and had no audio except a brief deceleration noise. The XML points to the correct sound file, but I have no way of knowing what's in there. I have never messed with Unity3D files and do not intend on touching somebody else's fine work. Stock vehicles work, no warnings or errors in loading the mods, and the only mods loaded are the humvee, semi, MD500, and UH-60. I cannot test the helicopters yet as my character cannot build them yet. Update: I just tried removing the individual mods and used the mega-pack and upon testing, the semi has a startup sound and an idle sound. I believe it slowly revs up from idle but I only drove a short distance to test it. In other words, the mega-pack works wonderfully, but the individually-packed models do not. We do not want that entire list of vehicles on our server, so we normally use Bdub's individual vehicles.
  8. Red dots? You have a map that shows them?
  9. I agree with the adjuster. I would like them to have improved detection at night. Assume their dead eyes see better in the dark (less light blinding them?) and maybe they can hear better. This would make nights much more dangerous again. As for stealth, I don't know what beta you're playing but I have been in max stealth (5/5 from the shadows) and had zeds on the other side of a big house hear me, wake up, and start trashing the place before I can even get to whatever leads to the area those zeds are in. Currently, I find it buggy in that sense. Take for example the Shamway Foods in the northeast part of the desert, just before you enter the burnt forest. I was in the back, full stealth, using my axe to destroy the various things on the floor that make noise before I get to them. I had cleared everything outside, verified that the zeds up at the sealed front entrance were asleep, made a wide circle, and gone in the back door. Killed the one in that back area and was moving behind the freezers to the office. Suddenly I hear things being damaged. I cannot see anything anywhere. I circle back to the front and the sleepers had somehow heard me in the back of the building from the opposite corner and were tearing their way into the store towards that back office. It has happened twice out of the half-dozen or so times I went there. Other times stealth works and I can kill MOST without waking them. Then again, it's an alpha. I just go with the flow for now.
  10. Literally every zombie movie out there has people hiding from zombies. Not always successfully, but it's a thing. Some of us enjoy hunting zeds in the night as well, using the darkness as cover. There are many reasons stealth is completely viable, but on the same token, it should not be so effective that I can wipe out hordes of zeds solo. Currently, it is not, to my knowledge.
  11. Oh, I know they read it, and I don't mind this kind of surprise attack once in a while. The issue I have is that it's used a lot, and makes the skill I spent ages speccing into useless. Can I resort to a sledgehammer and/or gun? Sure! That makes it easy though, but I must admit I love knocking a zombie head across the map in A21 when the hammer collides with their skull! I am not upset with the change as I AM playing the experimental branch on purpose. Just giving my two cents. I have not tried feral sense in A21 yet. I'll give it a go sometime and respec if I dislike it.
  12. That is the ONLY counter I have ever seen. How do you counter playing Conan The Barbarian? 50 rads or something extreme? No, I do other styles as well, but I love stealth and just because I am in an area does not mean that everything in the world knows I am there and is suddenly raging to kill me. If I step on trash, open something, or shoot a gun, sure, but don't attack because I exist in this area, it ruins the fun and does not jump-scare me, it aggravates me that I specced into stealth to max and cannot use it where it counts.
  13. My issue is that I go stealth. So I enter an area, don't step on anything, but five or six ferals drop and charge me... while my stealth meter is at 0 or 1. I don't mind that once in a blue moon, but it happens a LOT in A21. It destroys my stealth playstyle and I wind up going Conan on them.
  14. I wouldn't worry with affinity, but the game is CPU-hungry. I run an i9-11900k with an RTTX 3080 Ti. 7 Days can get the CPU so hot the fans spin up quite a bit. I actually purchased a water-cooler to combat this. Ark was the only other game that ever pushed my CPU. FOr reference, I have 64GB of DDR4. Lowering your resolution won't help as your issue is primarily with the CPU. The world is voxel-based and eats CPU cycles when figuring out what to send to the video card in terms of what you see. The 1650 is a weak GPU as well, but my gut tells me your CPU is being utilized to the max and not sending frames fast enough.
  15. I am assuming both modes are a different audio device in Windows. In other words, in Device Manager under Audio Devices you have one device for HSP and one for HFP. If that is the case it sounds to me like the Unity engine (what 7 Days uses) is for whatever reason, selecting the first device, which is likely the HSP device. You can test this, is they ARE separate devices, by disabling the HSP device in Devcie Manager and then playing. If it fixes your problem, at least we know what's happening. I do not work with the 7 Days team. I'm a player like you, but I have worked in IT my entire life, and this was a suggestion from that route.
  16. IPv6 is despised by most techs and poorly implemented, which is why it sees little adoption. Most WAN links that use it support IPv4 over IPv6 and that keeps things moving. I've worked for the second largest bank in the country and I can tell you they have no plans of implementing IPv6 when I parted ways with them a few months ago. Heck, just try remembering a single IPv6 address. That alone is a major wall for techs to climb. It's like asking us to remember SHA256 hashes. I believe you'd get farther by asking your ISP to support IPv4-in-IPv6 like most ISPs do. We have one ISP in our area that jumped on v6, but it supports v4 in v6 so home users don't have to switch to v6 in their homes. Barring that, you can always put in a request in the "Pimp Dreams" forum, but this seems more like a Unity game engine issue since that is the engine this game uses. I don't know if The Pimps could patch v6 support into the core engine.
  17. This may be due to your reflections quality. I noticed that I was seeing the sky reflected in the floor in my underground base until I turned the reflections quality down to high. On ultra and ultra+ I got the entire world reflecting inside the base, despite being underground and being built out of steel. I have an RTX 3080 Ti so I turned everything up to the max except bloom (too bright) and motion blur (Unity MB takes a big fps hit at times) which were off. The bonus is that I stay pegged out around 144fps now.
  18. I have not made a lever-action yet. It seems odd that there would be a puff of smoke because we developed smokeless powder in the 1800's. I own two lever-action rifles, both are old, one dating to 1907, and neither smokes. My black-powder .50 cal? That is another story! I might be one of those gun-toting mad-men you hear about. Still, modern rifles should not produce smoke plumes.
  19. Jugg, this happens in rooms where an entire wall is missing to the outside. Like, I can fly an F-35 through the open/destroyed area, but since I stepped on a shadow I get a black screen. We're dealing with it but it seems to be hit-and-miss. One room upstairs with no exterior wall is pitch black, while the basement has no lighting issues despite being underground. I play stealth characters so I am mostly at home in it, but it is something we'll be glad to have fixed one day.
  20. I prefer the system created in Daggerfall. Learn by doing. My second favorite is the one we have now, learn by reading. The perk system was easily abused by power-levellers and I could have end-game stuff on day three with it.
  21. So this is a known bug? I don't need to report a duplicate?
  22. Summary: Players who are not the host can lose quests when reconnecting Game Version: A21 b313 OS/Version: Windows 10 22H2 CPU Model: Intel i9-11900k System Memory: 64GB DDR4-3200 GPU Model and VRAM: nVidia RTX 3080 Ti Screen Resolution: 2560x1440x144 Video Settings: Everything on the highest setting, motion blur and bloom off Game mode: MP Host Did you wipe old saves? Yes Did you start a new game? Yes Did you validate your files? Yes Are you using any mods? Yes (300min days, nothing else) EAC on or off? Off Status: NEW Bug Description: I started a new A21 game with a friend. We did the quests up to going to the trader, then we took a break. I got back, she was busy, I went to the trader and it turned in. I quit playing. We got together a few hours later, I hosted again, she joined. Her quest to go to the trader was gone. Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: 1) Start a new game with a friend 2) Play for a while and take a break (quit the game) 3) Host again later, and when the friend joins the quest is gone Actual result: My friends quest was gone, as if it was completed or dropped Expected result: My friend should be able to retain the quest and complete it My Game log is here: https://pastebin.com/Lyhs40qC
  23. If you use the "chunk reset" option (ours is set to 30 days for now) doesn't that respawn all loot anyway, or does it just respawn the terrain and buildings?
  24. I personally love the new system 99%. In A20 I used perks for survival skills and heck, I was making motorcycles earlier in the game than if I had specced into the skill using perks because I found the blueprints. I always used BPs for crafting and perks for survival skills. The 1% I dislike is the new water/"you will die if not lucky" side. I played with two friends and we never found the book to skill us up ONE TIME so we could make a dew collector. We all wound up having no stamina and had to start over. This time we found the skill book on day one and had the dukes to buy a filter too! Basically, if your RNG sucks, you get to start over repeatedly until somebody finds a skill book that allows you to build a dew collector. Only complaint from me and my group so far, we love the rest!
