    Is the rain storage broken? Three of my rain catchers disappeared and now none of them will gather water. Bug or patch change?

     

    No reports on this yet besides yours. RainStorage has not been touched for many patches.

  2. Fair enough, I'm fine with eating that while I see how it unfolds in the next couple of days/weeks. What about the hotkey highlight though?

     

    I'll mention that to Dust the UI author. My daughter mentioned that last night as well. He is going to adjust the background and improve the contrast a bit

    nevermind, friend found kennyitem, we went in.. very disappointing i must say ;(. dont get me wrong, looked cool but if you were trying to introduce that as an aspect the randomization of monetary = yikes lol

     

    That room was more a tribute to our departed friend Pacco, who made all those assets. It wasn't intended to be an important game play feature. I have not yet found 1 item to get access myself, so i can't comment on how well it works.

Is this mod supposed to add more vehicles in the maps I thought i saw some the first time i played this mod a few days ago i had a tank i found but then it ended up dissapearing ive created a few new worlds with the cheat option on so i could fly around and look around and all i saw where generic 7 day cars and in my files i found tanks and bikes etc. i just refreshed the mod today to get the most recent update before i made a few worlds

     

    There were more types of cars in the A15 version, but we didnt add as many to A16. I think the reason was to keep the mod size down, but I cant recall. We have lots of car models we can load if thats a popular request.

    Hi there (new account), I wish you all a good and successful new year.

     

    First of all thanks for the great mod, it's tons of fun and it really shows that you put so much work into this. The new HUD - oh my, so pretty and sleek and the eastereggs *chuckles*. So overall I'm positively overwhelmed, so please take the following feedback not as being nitpicky but as me genuinely trying to give my personal opinion how things could be improved.

     

    1. The visibility of the highlighted hotkey in the tool bar is low. With the original HUD it's enough to check it with your peripheral vision, which is actually what you want, since it's a good idea to focus on the main portion of the screen.

     

    2. Looting and spawning of certain key items appear to have changed in frequency (of course, mind that due to me being human and not playing 24/7 my sample size is not very high at this point in time).

    • Anything removing infection, even tree stumps have become very rare. So rare it's become a good idea to NOT heal until the end of stage 1 because being infected is the best protection against infection atm.
    • Wild neutral animals (I.e. the notorious female pig) have become very scarce. I've dumped points into husbandry now to make sure that I will at least not whack the next one to death.
    • All container and corpse loot appears to be less random. There seems to be much more predictability which containers drop which items.
    • It's wrench-mas. I hate to be the spoilsport breaking this to you, but sitting at 13 free wrenches from sinks at level 30-ish appears excessive. If only pots would spawn as much! They are a key item gating drinking, which is very basic. Man heh.

     

    Your experiencing random luck...I never get many wrenches to start. I will check the loot tables though. The loot tables are due for a revision, they are mostly vanilla with some added starvation specific items added.

  4. Hi do you know if somehow strawberries have been disabled? I'm well over 120 days and haven't even found a single strawberry/seed. Traders don't have them and I've killed over 3K zombies. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places?

  5. Hi ,FYI , I was on the rifles quest and completed 4 of 5 and toggled the 5th stage active and had a Null Ref and locked up the game , ps , first thread ,,not sure if in right place

    Also seem to have lost this quest ,,is there anyway to reactivate it cos Im not sure where this quest started from

     

    Fixed in next patch. The quests start at the game beginning when you set down a bedroll. Without admin access you cant restart it. The quest ID is <quest id="Q_WRI"

  6. Just a quick question myself too - I've seen that Rubber recipe has changed and now uses scrap rubber, but the old way of doing it with corn meal and things is no longer there in the most recent update.

     

    Is there any good sources of scrap rubber apart from in junk, which is quite rare? Or can any of the survivors learn how to craft the rubber without requiring scrap rubber?

     

    I'd also like to suggest some other sources of rubber, not sure if these are already implemented just yet...

    - Minibike wheels scrap to rubber instead of iron

    - Vibrators scrap to rubber - currently have no scrapping recipe

    - Rubber in working stiff boxes - would make sense

    - Destroying trash bags has a small chance to give you rubber - would represent the trash bag part of the junk item being salvaged.

    - Cars give rubber when you take apart the second or final stage, maybe 1-2 scrap rubber, to represent the tires that remain on the car

    - Some of the electrical things you find around the world could give rubber when wrenched, to represent the wire insulation

    - A new tree that can be found rarely in the forest biome - a rubber tree! Allows you to get latex resin from it that can be turned into rubber on the chemistry station. However it only ever gives 1 tree seed when harvested, so you can't farm them easily unless you find more, and takes 5x longer to grow than other trees so it doesn't become a primary source quickly.

     

    I just got to the point where I needed rubber. I got the 20 I needed off junk items I needed to make the Big Generator, but I can see it will be an issue trying to make a few rad Suits. I will add some more options to find rubber/scrap rubber. It wont be tires though, way too many, and rubber needs to be somewhat rare

  7. Hey guys.

    Awesome mod. I love the unique items and blocks. I was wondering how i can install the scripts for the elevator mod. I know I cant run it through SDX again. I can install the blocks and recipes and such but the elevator is useless without the scripts. I dont want to come off like I dont like the mod by changing it but elevators are awesome and I would love to have them in this mod.

    I will not redistribute or have any public showing of the changes. Will be for single player,personal play.

    You cant compile additional scripts into Starvation. All scripts need to be compiled at the same time. So unless our team decides to add that script to the build at some point, you cant get the elevator into Starvation. Sorry.

  8. What do you mean icy storage degrading? does this mean the box will "thaw out" and we'll have to re-upgrade it with snow? or does this mean it will it stay ice, and food will just go bad like it does in the coolers and what not?

    It means after some time it will downgrade to a non iced box. You would then need to upgrade it again.

  9. OK so I got like 7 bosses at day 70 horde,but I have to say that they are weak even at insane difficulty,just 2 headshots with sniper normal ammo.

     

    I got a few more than that on my day 70 horde, and each one took 15-20 rounds to kill, with many of those headshots. That was on one level easier. I'll check though.

  10. Can anyone tell me what you use in the Windmill slots, tried engines and batteries but it doesn't seem to increase output.

     

    Edit: Also if anyone knows how much the helipad crates can stack when returning home :p

     

    Nothing is needed in those slots. When I made the windmill mod those were left in for future enhancement, but as no one used it, I never got back to it.

  11. It's exactly once a day. Once per day the game will pick one random player on the server and send a horde towards them.

    It's absolutely possible that the zeds are breaking the collectors. Try to fence off your farming area to protect them and see if they continue to disappear.

    Try building it on the roof of your base. NOTE!!!! Make sure your roof is concrete as wood will let the water into your base. Then go for the living roof concept.

     

    I'll see if I can replicate your power issue.

     

    I have seen zeds seem oddly attracted to water collectors. Every time i put those in the open at ground level surrounded by woodblocks, they were attacked almost daily. Might be something in the code that makes the collector a target. Unintentional, i'm sure :-)

  12. The zombieBear pet is fixed in next patch. Frankly it sounds like you have a bad install, maybe mismatched files? We have dozens of testers on many servers, and none are reporting even a fraction of these issues. I'd suggest a full wipe and re-install when that's possible.

    I even used creative to spawn in a book to read, and I would unlearn it in about 2 minutes. Gotta use the dang bench. :( cant even repair anything without it lol.

    some problems we've run into:

    ....... NPC workers will randomly die, even when fed and working Cant reproduce this, so will need to know the conditions that lead up to this)

    ....... guns dont seem to be able to hit old models (bears, wolves, ect) but arrows work fine (In my play, at least the hunting rifle always hits)

    ...... when workstations are making items, sometimes the item they are making, or the parts they are using will magically create a huge stack of like 13k or more of the item. Cant reproduce this

    ...... the quest to kill the rad ape will not count the ape kill Noted, easy fix

    ...... my farm animals will dissappear, wont breed. mostly its the males that vanish. does the trough need water? Cant reproduce this

    ...... Is there no use for the boy?

    ...... sometimes when i pick up an item, my inventory will get filled up with copies of that item. Cant reproduce this

    ..... small generator and diesel generator should have different amounts of engine slots. Working as intended

  14. This does seem very epic! I agree it seems you need a bit more reward especially if you had to cheat some of the enemies away in testing. :)

     

    I'd love to have other things that have this sort of mechanic and really extend this idea further, whereby using said items caused a wave of zombies to spawn, getting harder and harder the longer it is left running.

     

    A great example would be a POI where you could find a big blast furnace that is capable of turning forged iron and coal directly into forged steel at a super fast rate after 3 waves. You deposit up to 500 iron and 500 coal in there and get 500 steel out at the end. However by using this item it would cause waves of zombies to spawn around the POI with the blast furnace inside, and the longer it is left on, the more zombies will begin to spawn until you even start getting rad cops and eventually bosses, if left on for way too long. This could also be the only place you could craft a crucible, enabling you to make steel ingots in your own big forge. For that you'd need to survive 5 waves of attacks.

     

    And what about doing this with some of the nuclear plant systems? Have it so that when the turbine turns on, it may have a chance to summon zombies around the plant that would try and break in. Would make reinforcing the power plant with traps and camping there necessary if you wanted to use it for power cores to power the exo suit later on.

     

    You could even use this sort of thing as a gate, whereby a player would have to venture out to find the POI that had an item capable of making the next thing to progress. Then have a progression something like

     

    Early game -> Steel POI -> Mid game -> Nuclear Plant POI -> Late game -> Rad zone

     

    I remember you guys saying the minibike was OP as well, what about having the minibike chassis made on an 'improved lathe' which you can find inside a working stiffs store or pass+gas randomly? Another way to have this mechanic be used. You want that minibike? You're going to have to fight tooth and nail to get it. This would also force people to walk through biomes, encountering animals that the bike lets them drift right past.

     

    All great ideas. All doable. This mechanic can be reused for many new scenarios. Once this one is finished (and Morte just showed off a piece) I think we will focus on making a second type of event next, with additional new event functionality. Building a catalog of event code now will yield long term, reusable benefits.

     

    We have discussed ideas about the minibike, but will probably wait until A17 as all vehicle code will be changing so anything done now will need to be completely redone in A17.

  15. I've had this happen as well, in Ravenhearst mod. I too suspect it has something to do with melting down items, tools, etc. When I melted some raw iron on top of it, all the iron from the item melting suddenly counted again.

     

    I will try to reproduce this but to date I have not seen this happen in Starvation. if it is a particular tool that caused this let me know, that would help track it down.

  16. Hi, I found the same bug again but this time the issue is with steel in the big forge. This time I made sure there was enough fuel. Again, there is steel in the big forge but I cannot make any items that use the steel. The recipe list displays 0 steel enough though the UI on the right side shows plenty of steel. There is also plenty of coal and clay. I made another video on youtube showing the issue:

     

    I think what you are seeing is a result of you not having the perk to make steel. You can smelt scrap steel without the perk, and empty the forge of steel into scrap, but you can't make forged steel without the perk. I've seen this behavior in vanilla mods as well. The zero amount is just how the game handles the missing perk. You have no steel you can "use".

  17. The snowman video... Its just so wrong in so many ways.

    Like, I was actually uncomfortable watching it hover-glide around and spider scream at you... .oO((chills down spine))

    I was never "Down" with Santa and Rudolf is just a glorified mule-deer so I always could rely on good old Frosty.

    But... now?. Nope.

    I don't think snow, let alone snowmen, will ever hold the same childhood wonder and happyness for me.

    Haha, he even scarier now that hes finished. Still need to get a ranged effect working, but there are issues with that.
