I've got a trader in the wasteland that always has a z dog on his base.

And every time I see him for the first time I forget about the dog. When he askes me if I want any jobs, I tell him,"well I'm diseased, got an abrasion, and a sprained arm. NO!"

 

Is that dog there on purpose?

Some of the Trader bases seem to be easier for zombies to get in to than others.  I haven't noticed any getting inside Jen's, Bob's or Rekt's places but Joel and Hugh are notorious for having zombies inside.  I'm not sure how they keep getting in but they manage it somehow.  Can be annoying to be looking thru their inventory when a zombie starts punching me in back of the head lol.

I like trapping a zombie inside a trader right before close, and seeing a fresh gutpile in there the next day 🙂

I've had zombies get into Trader Rekt's place somehow too. I never heard them or saw them, just turned around exited the workshed and had two zeds right in my face.

With the crawl feature they can glitch through Trader Joel's defenses.  When I have seen them they generally get hung up in the stairs.

I had a zombie dog attack me in Jen's place.  For the life of me I couldn't figure out how I'd let it in, I'm so dang careful!  Mystery solved, thank you.

Traders need to place their damn land claim blocks to keep the zombies from spawning.  The jerks.

I think I might have figured out how this happens, at least in one case.  If I agro dogs outside a trader while I'm inside (with the trader door closed), they will teleport into the traders walls.  In the case of trader Joel, they always appeared in the same spot (right where I'm pointing below).

Perhaps I am agrowing the dog as I go into the base. I'll look around for it before I enter next time.
