bobsizzlack
Bug I've not encountered before, even on my first short run through of Alpha 20 - basically some containers that would usually contain loot don't show the usual "(E) to open" prompt. I've tried putting the bedroll down, picking it up, logging out, restarting my computer, verifying game files, but nothing seems to fix it. Playing singleplayer on PC Windows 10, with server options set to friends only. Log here - https://pastebin.com/k9K4HSDz Video to demonstrate here - It's not all containers, in fact it's only a small amount that I've encountered, but it has happened on main stash, medical supplies, crates, toolboxes, one trader's broken workbench, chem station, cement mixer, and some store shelves so far. Star69
Lots of mods. Try removing the mods and play a game with vanilla settings. If your game works then, add in one mod at a time to figure out which mod is causing the problem.
bobsizzlack
I don't know if 5 is considered "lots", but I've actually removed mods on this run from a run I did before - is there something in the log I've missed that has an error or something? unholyjoe
as others have made note, try running game without the mods and verify your files when you moved the folder. while we dont blame mods... it is always a good procedure to disable them and only add back one at a time until the issue shows up again. 1 is too many if one breaks the game. 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.342 INF [MODS] Start loading 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.348 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: 30k Stacks-1037-1-1-1600152012 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.376 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: 30k Stacks (1.1) 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.377 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: More Animals Large-1021-1-0-1597852085 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.378 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: More Animals All Biomes Large (A19Experimental) (MAAB-1.0) 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.378 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: Move Speed Bonus to Rule1Cardio - A19-449-1-2-1598420958 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.380 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: Move Speed perk (1.2(A19)) 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.380 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: No More Flash Chickens and Rabbits-1162-1-1603339696 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.381 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: No More Flash Rabbits and Chickens (A19) 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.381 INF [MODS] Trying to load from folder: Treasure hunter adjustment-1097-19-2-1600546741 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.382 INF [MODS] Loaded Mod: Lam's Treasure Hunter mod (19) 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.382 INF [MODS] Initializing mod code 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.382 INF [MODS] Loading done 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.397 INF Pack 7030 us 2021-12-15T23:45:07 8.400 INF [MODS] Loading localization from mod: Lam's Treasure Hunter mod then there is this.... 2021-12-15T23:45:35 36.284 WRN XML patch for "items.xml" from mod "30k Stacks" did not apply: <set xpath="/items/item[@name='ammoBlunderbuss']/property[@name='Stacknumber']/@value" (line 10 at pos 3) 2021-12-15T23:45:35 36.309 WRN XML patch for "items.xml" from mod "30k Stacks" did not apply: <set xpath="/items/item[@name='foodMoldyBread']/property[@name='Stacknumber']/@value" (line 53 at pos 3) 2021-12-15T23:45:35 36.335 WRN XML patch for "items.xml" from mod "30k Stacks" did not apply: <set xpath="/items/item[@name='drinkJarGrainAlcohol']/property[@name='Stacknumber']/@value" (line 96 at pos 3) 2021-12-15T23:45:35 36.370 WRN XML patch for "items.xml" from mod "30k Stacks" did not apply: <set xpath="/items/item[@name='resourceFertilizer']/property[@name='Stacknumber']/@value" (line 138 at pos 3) no matter how small or innocent a mod is... there can always be a chance something might go wrong so best to disable everything. test game and then when you find the culprit(s) contact the creator of the mod. good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Also, only just realised mouldy bread and grain alcohol have been removed - I wondered why I hadn't looted any so far. I'll try taking the 30k Stacks out first, maybe there's a way to edit the mod to remove references to those items.

Star69
Yeah I don’t see anything in the log this time so let’s approach it from a different direction. When you installed A20, did you ‘clean’ all remnants of A19? Per the blue banner at the top of the page, before installing A20 you should bring up the game launcher and check everything on the second tab. After that, uninstall 7 Days. Reinstall 7 Days but be sure latest experimental-unstable is checked so you only install A20. Once installed, verify files twice. I’d be quite surprised if that doesn’t fix your issue since removing the mods didn’t help. I’m suspicious of some A19 files remaining causing A20 to be borked for you. BFT2020
Is that a new game though? If the mods missed up the loot containers, just removing the mods doesn’t fix it as the containers are now bonked.

What is this game launcher you're talking about? I run the game through steam, so I just click play and it goes? I did try uninstalling and reinstalling the whole thing, then did a Cclean and defrag, then restarted for good measure. I put the save and map data back into the folder system then booted back up, and no difference. It has affected piles of food/medical supplies/books in newly generated POIs too - as in ones I'd not been to on the map before, and I guess "refreshed" by activating a quest there. I'll try again today, including double verifying the files. 11 hours ago, BFT2020 said: Is that a new game though? It's only this one particular save - I did a run through with the same mods on a different map and didn't encounter this problem, and in fact I used more mods than this in that run. I might try and generate another map to try and get it to replicate the bug. It's not game breaking, it just means that I don't get quite as much loot as I normally squirrel away. bobsizzlack
Tried replicating the error by purging mods and starting a new game with the same seed, made my way to the same POIs that I knew were affected by this bug, and the containers worked fine. Seems that having mods enabled in the world generation may be the root cause of the issue, but I don't know enough about what is going on to firmly say this is the case.
BFT2020
I have had issues where I couldn't open containers when I was trying to mod something and missed up the syntax on the loot file. Even once you fix it, it doesn't affect the game save you have.
Star69
I’m glad it’s resolved. When you double click on 7 Days to play, the option pops up if you want the game launcher or not. Most people ignore that popup but it’s there every time you start the game through Steam and that’s how you access the game launcher
meganoth
Should the option really not pop-up, one can go into the games folder and start "7dLauncher" directly (steam should be running though)
