Idea for endgame?

Hello everyone,

I noticed that  at some point in game moving forward is kind of pointless or at least not interesting ( Days 200+ etc. at least for me it is not more interesting so i start over). I was thinking if it would be possible to spicy up end game somehow. I have an idea that it sounds interesting to me, and wanted to find out if there is anyone sharing my feeling about it.

So

After 10/20/50 L5 missions Trader will give you "special quest" - this quest can be repeatable. It sends you to one location which is just huge indestructible, incredibly hard (because of zombies, traps, riddles etc) building. It can have multiple floors, different areas, but when you reach the end you have a chance to get "unique" item - piece of armor (one of the kind), some special mod that is double the normal one (advance, magazine, advanced cripple them mod etc) or some unique weapon, some unique schematic that appears only there.

Spawn item can be bound to time how long it take the player to finish whole building. I know it will be incredibly grinding area (well look at my nick ;) )but it gives some sort of purpose to keep coming back to this building to actually finish it, collect those items which helps in long run etc.

what you guys think about it?

That's good point. I should move it there, is there a way to move it there?

100% destructible world allow to cheese and break through, well it can be destructible but build with 10k block lo so it will be more worth wile to go through it instead of breaking it down

heh i actually like that. but it would need to have better defense than now, because protecting yourself. your base and  trader would be full time job lol.

Nope  people want to make him like "mobile" vending machine -  you see truck talk with him you can blow up him and he will respawn somewhere tomorow

"mobile" vending machine xD

well that might be bit annoying trying to give back the mission to trader which is somewhere one the map. or maybe move missions to "mission board" that appear in every major city and you can interact with.

I wonder how long someone could play with loot respawing turned off.

what day would it be when you run out of coal or nitrate to make bullets or would be be when you run out of stone for cement and have to go back to wood building harvested from a small plot of trees one block above the bedrock.

Big open void bedrock land.

Someone get an AI playing and tell us what day stuff runs out.

i don't think that is possible. i mean i would need to setup game for my unborn son and explain him everything so by the time he reach my age he might do it, unless there will be new update ;)

My last long playthrough I was at 125 days, loot respawn was turned off.  On a 8k map, still haven't run out of anything at that point.  Some people have gotten even further along themselves.

Granted, I am playing SP so all the loot belongs to me.  MP would be a different experience.

Well, how about some questionable math? A 4K world has about 1 billion terrain blocks (not air), give or take. If 1/100th of one percent (one out of every 10,000 blocks) is an ore block, you will have 100,000 ore blocks in the world. Assuming they are equally divided between iron, lead, coal, nitrate, and oil shale (which I don't think would be the case since oil shale is only in the desert), there's 20,000 ore blocks each of coal, nitrate, and lead to dig up.

With no perks or candy you get 50 coal/nitrate from each block, so 1,000,000 coal + nitrate would be available in the world. So you get 1,000,000 gunpowder when using the chem station (but without the bundle perk). Lead is also 50/ore block and it forges 1:1, but requires 2 for each bullet tip, so you'd get 500,000 bullet tips.

Assuming infinite brass (which is far from the truth; brass would be the real limiting factor I think), you could make 500K 9mm or about 333K 7.62 using the above numbers. If you shoot 100 rounds per day and 1,000 rounds on horde night, that stash would last somewhere in the range of 1350-2050 game days depending on which ammo you use. For example, with 500,000 9mm, you get:

2050 game days = 292 horde nights x 1,000 rounds per horde = 292,000 rounds used

2050 game days x 100 rounds per day = 205,000 rounds used

292,000 + 205,000 = 497,000 rounds, leaving 3,000 extra for shooting chickens or whatever

If I understood biomes.xml better (specifically how the "prob" for the sub-biomes actually works) then I could be much more accurate. My suspicion is that I am under estimating the amount of ore in the world. Especially since the biome rules place ore at X layers beneath the surface, not at some absolute depth, so mountains and just higher elevations in general have much more space for ore. Just look at this screenshot using a mod which shows ores. There is a TON of ore hiding beneath the surface and only some of it links to a surface ore boulder.

In a single player 4k game you could spend a very long time just clearing the surface nodes and POIs of resources, depending on number of POIs and other factors.  From there you'd spend literal months of real time mining everything below ground (16 million blocks per layer, to put this into perspective).  What you'd run out of first would be tough to say, since so many factors would come into play.

I think looking at me i would first run out of willingness to do so for my own sanity xD I would really admire if someone would do that though

While I agree it would be a chore to do this, I am still thinking you could go to crossbows to avoid bullet use, and finally hiding from the horde. I wonder what would run out first?

I still think it would be stone. You could hide from every horde, vultures are especially limitless so arrows would always be available.

I imagine a world mined to bedrock with some small plots of trees and food crops with a large reinforced concrete building that slowly gets chipped away.

Well if you take under consideration traders than answer is - nothing. They just make stuff out of thin air including brass (dukes).
