If you take a look at your Action Skills mod, in the config folder there's an items.xml file. Inside you will see how each vanilla item that interacts with item skills has had an effect group added and some properties set. Without those the new items you add with other mods will not interact with action skills. I'm working on that now and will share when i finish if it's not already done. I just saw TA was updated so i'm gonna grab that so i can work from the latest update. 
 

Also, Tristam I love ReClass, great idea! I wound up adding a recipe for that random class and adding all classes to it's random selection. Then i removed the random items even and odd bundles from recipes and added them as possible random chance items to a rebuilt wildcard class to make wildcard more random like the original wildcard class  from valmars starter classes while sticking to your template as best as possible. I'd be happy to share if you want it.

LOL really should have read the OP first, and checked for updates yesterday as that would have saved me some time. Keep up the great work, it is much appreciated!

I appreciate your appreciation.  Once I find the patience to learn Unity, I think I can really get these iron sights down. Who knows?  Maybe one of these days I'll start adding in my own weapons?  Don't hold your breath on that last bit, though.

 

Sure, upload your work, magejosh.  I'm interested in looking it over.  Worst case scenario, it can probably become an addon to the mod.  Maybe I should upload this to the Nexus so that people can upload their addons there and have all our mods easily linked together?

yeah i did a direct edit as i was just trying to get it to work how i wanted and there's one item that is unique to my purposes and can be removed or altered to a vanilla playthrough easily. actually i'll just do that real quick to make it easier. It was ClassRandomGearBonus bundle and its random items, i swapped them to pocket mods.

The only real changes are there in the items.xml.

I did the recipes in a separate mod. I can send those over as well but basically i set all TA weapons to 1 ranged weapon token crafting cost to encourage their use. Then for ammo i made the costs 1, 2, or 3 ranged weapon tokens depending on if it was a box/crate/metal box of ammo.

Installation: just replace the whole sections of sights in item_modifiers. This edits are based on Tristam's version from 01.04.2021 (the newest).

I think i forgot to mention it earlier but i changed the workstation icon and crafting icon for the ammoBench to a new icon so it wouldn't be confused in the recipes panel for a workbench recipe that wouldn't allow crafting when you opened a workbench. I used:

The CraftIcon line didn't exist before so i added that one in as well. Should cover having the icon appear in all the relevant spaces.

Installation: just replace the whole sections of sights in item_modifiers. This edits are based on Tristam's version from 01.04.2021 (the newest).

If new version would break the scopes again, I would f***ing make direct software injection to view and edit this goddamned offsets in game! Editing XML and reloading save is tedious, but I'm tired of coding at job to do it extensively in a hobby.

P.S. Also discovered memory leak: 7d2d won't free all taken RAM if you load save and quit to main menu about 15-20 times. I got +20 GB of RAM usage this way. One needs to exit the game completely to free all resources.

I remember now why it's like that.  TA adds the ability to disassemble ammo.  Put it on your toolbar and left click.  Since you can turn any vanilla ammo into TA ammo, its loot is low.

If new version would break the scopes again, I would f***ing make direct software injection to view and edit this goddamned offsets in game! Editing XML and reloading save is tedious, but I'm tired of coding at job to do it extensively in a hobby.

P.S. Also discovered memory leak: 7d2d won't free all taken RAM if you load save and quit to main menu about 15-20 times. I got +20 GB of RAM usage this way. One needs to exit the game completely to free all resources.


Another update: sniper scopes mostly. So, SMG with ACOGs is todo (not crtitical, SMGs are for close combat), one x2 Acog is todo (but there's another x2, working) and machineguns with x8 scopes is todo. Everything else is ready and playable for me, so I'm back to actually playing :)

Maybe I should have entered this forum earlier.

 

I have done this (align mod weapon sites to crosshair)  already for all weapons and mods minus the shotguns, six shooters, grenade launchers.

 

SMGs are usually about 0.0001 - 0.0005 off - wasn't concerned about fine tuning SMGs as at the ranges you normally engage, the small PiP offset/moa at range is not significant.

 

I cannot do this for all the weapons with iron sights. Some it can, but in some cases when you have the first sight (closest to player) aligned with the cross hair, the front site is too low or too high - so I would need to rotate the barrel end of the model. I saw scope rotation entry in the xml in places but couldn't make it do anything for me. Let me know if you have found a way to do this, as I am new and just started modding 7 days about 3 days ago for a server.

(Edit: also haven't touched mini-gun at all either.  not sure how to fix the model pointing upwards like it does  - comes back to model rotation - )

Not that I know of off the top of my head, but I'll look into it.  There are some options to play with for that, so I might be able to make something happen.   No promises, but fingers crossed.

Things are really looking good now in TA! Thank you so much for doing all of this. Its nice to see so many in the community come forward and contribute things to help get the mod up and running properly on a20 as well. It really goes to show just how crucial to gameplay this mod becomes for those that get into it.

 

Now all someone needs to do is learn Unity, get access to the original assets (or simply create their own from scratch) and rotate each misaligned model to the proper leveled orientation. Sounds easy enough. Something like that should take what, a day? Two at the most? /sarcasm

 

But seriously, thank you Tristam, Ragnar, Magejosh and Roy-o-rama.

Not that I know of off the top of my head, but I'll look into it.  There are some options to play with for that, so I might be able to make something happen.   No promises, but fingers crossed.

Hi there, Tristam!

I'm really greateful you keep this mod up to date! But I always was interested only in guns that mod provides, so I cut everything else, keeping only guns, mods, and ammo. It was my personal variation I used with friends, but I think maybe I should share? I have no intent to create seperate mod, I was just thinking if I can share it with you and you will do with it what you want.

Also great work with scopes, they much more reliable now!

EDIT: I should mension I talk about Tactical Action, lol

While I consider the Tactical Action mod my baby too, now, it's not mine to give or take permission for.  IvanDX gave me his blessing to update it but if you want to get permission to do your own thing with it, I'm not the one to ask. Between you and me, though, I hope that he gives you the green light.  GL.  :)

 

And thanks for the praise.  It makes it easier for me to keep up the work.

Reclass doesn't appear to be compatible with SMXui keep getting errors when crafting with the bugoutbag

 

ERR [XUi] Error while updating window group 'workstation_bugoutbag:

EXC Object reference not set to an instance of an object

 

is it possible to make this compatible with SMXui?

 

Edit.   Guess I'll have to pause using SMXui for now can't live without Reclass now far to useful.

The issue is that SMXui is loaded earlier in the game.  Mods are loaded in 7 Days in alphabetical order, so renaming your ReClass folder to "zzzReClass" solves the issue.  Just know that this might cause other compatibility issues you didn't have before.  So be prepared to rename other folders as needed, and make sure to backup your saves jic.

I'm no expert in this matter but I believe the ZMXhudCP and ZMXuiCP mods included with SMX are compatibility patches made for exactly that purpose? If you are playing with anything other than straight vanilla and SMX, I'd recommend always using the compatibility patches @CrimsonKing

 

I'm not using ReClass specifically, but I am using Tactical Action and a metric ton of other mods alongside SMX with no issues... yet.

Renaming ReClass to zzzReClass solved the issue before that I had the compatibilty patches still had errors when trying to craft from the bugbag thanks for the info though was wondering what those additional files we're.

 

Edit. Now that I think about it maybe it does work and you we're correct have a stupid habit of renaming the ZMX to SMX cause it looks nicer imho so yeah that might've caused a problem but again zzzReClass did manage to solve the issue no problem. Renamed to ReClass with fresh SMX and ZMX and got errors again seems you do have to rename it to zzzReClass for it to work correctly.
