I would prefer 5-7 manually created maps like Navezgane

I'll agree with that. More tailored pregen maps (like around 5) for each size (6k, 8 k, 10 k) would be welcome. Sure, I can gen a new map any time, but to be able to play a customised TFP map as an option would be oh so nice. While the gang isn't all hands on deck to solve some wayward issue, perhaps a few of the crew may be building some awesome worlds to experience. Incorporating features that would not normally appear in a random world.  Then again, as of lately, your hands are full.  Ya' all dont't lack imagination. When things slow down, let a few of the folk have a fun time with world generation. You know the masses will eat it up!

Man, people do zero research nowadays

Yeah, well I've been guilty of glossing over info in these forums when the answer to my question was right in front of me.  It happens, albeit not too often.  Then again, I used to get kinda irked when training new-hires in the intricacies of some machine or industrial process. So often they'd demanded a brain dump - "Tell me all, now". I'd refer them to the documentation. "No, because if I did, you wouldn't remember it all anyways. RTFM." Those who demanded all at the onset often proved to be the most problematic later on.

Nah, I didn't take your reply as snarky at all. More realistic than anything else.

Maybe it's just me but when I visit a trader with the intention of selling stuff, I consume all my +barter items and take only items I mean to sell so they all go, no risk of selling something I don't actually want to sell.

Perhaps a config variable for people to customize this, is the way to go. A simple sell_max_stack = true and we're golden.

My game rule is to pretty much go through my inventory prior to hitting up the trader. Move the stuf I want to sell to the 'bottom of the inventory list' and close up the gaps I made in moving stuff around - especially when that trader is not near the base and I've been looting. If near base, I have a storage unit above the main door for saleables. Do a 'take all' and most shouldl be at the 'bottom of the list' - last in my inventory - already. Its pretty much all about inventory management. Selling is not such a big deal - sell one or 50 of an item. If they'll take it, fine. Time is important but sales shouldn't kill a day if the trader will by only 12 of an item and you've got 30 to sell. Less than a minute to overcome that issue, imo.

But yeah, a sell_max_stack option would be hella convenient. Its up to you to figure out what the best selling (must lucrative) items are. I prefer vehicle parts. Otherwise selling stuff is like a big yard sale, much to do with little return. But you've got more space now...

hope they add railway specific blocks that could support a player driven railroad hand car.

Yes, at the minimum. But I don't see that happening in this run of Alphas. Surely the devs have considered rail lines (how could they not?) but it just ain't gonna happen this time around.

Maybe in their next game? Or not at all. My bet is on the latter scenario.

    Its all good.

  5. Well, maybe the devs would consider allowing snakes to drop from above - broken ceiling tiles, rafters, etc - Navezgane mambas. With a debuff bite. Warning rattle optional. It would sure as heck scare the dysentary outta me.

Don't give up! Post a request in the "Discussions and Request" part of this forum. There are many people who maybe can help you. I think if your post is "Help with time and traders in Darkness Falls" and you explain what you want, someone could help. Hao ma?

I think it's evident there is a "culture barrier" when you read Roland's posts.

It will take some time, I think, to really understand the subtlety of irony and banter in English.

Ah, indeed. And Roland uses American English to be exact. And don't forget about the hints of sarcasm as well. Some cultures just don't get sarcasm, even if the person has a good grasp of the language. My wife is a perfect example...but that doesn't stop me from using sarcasm though 😁

It's a mod for gloves that shows the time permanently, as long as you wear it.

Yes, I didn't mention that it is indeed a mod for gloves. Once installed in the glove, and the glove is worn by the player, game time is constantly shown on the player's display.

And as far as editing the XML to turn on Trader protection, I can almost guarantee that KhaineGB will avoid offering assistance. Why? Firstly, because he wants Trader protection off, and secondly he hasn't the time nor inclination to tutor someone in editing the XML. You might want to start a new thread under the MODS heading and ask for help with that one. And I wouldn't know where to start.... Good luck mate 👍

  9. I did not find the lack of displayed time to be a major obstacle in playing this mod at all. Yes, initally one can't push their work for the day to the limit because one is not certain where that limit is. Ambient audio will trigger the crickets sound at 19:00 hours. Its up to the player to determine how long to be outside of base before 22:00 hours. Play (plan) accordingly. And crafting a watch isn't such a big deal, just need the right workstation.  I was lucky, often found a watch in loot before I was able to craft one. If you're running the server, I suppose you could just spawn in a watch for each player. Problem solved (but its not what the mod author intended).

Look, the zombies are after you. They're not after the Trader. A random horde may cause some grief, and on horde night if the Trader is between you and the incoming horde, well that may prove to be a problem for Trader Jen. I've logged a few hundred hours in the mod (SP) and not lost a Trader yet.

You and your mates will have fun with it. Or your money back.

Holy cheating algorithms! My momma often said that those who speak of the worst are often guilty of even worse transgressions.  Those of us who have played by the rules are automatically debunked?  Nah, in your dreams. Too many of us have played faithfully and truly, and offline hours aren't even included in the tally.  But if it makes you feel better about the accomplishments of others, get stuffed.

Postpone it a bit Pimps! For at least 2 more weeks, they deserve it !!

*a screamer spawns on me* .. gotta go, sorry :)

Yeah, it has gotten rather quiet in here. I didn't see the stream (envious of those who could though). Prolly most have gone to sleep and will give their impressions in the next couple of days. I'm waiting....😉

  13. You're not alone. I have to play a long time (usually 30 hours or more with 60 minutes in a game day) before the cowboy hat mod (not the hat by itself) drops for me too. RNG I suppose, but it seems like its become at minimum a mid-game item for me as well.

Ah, in English the item pictured would be called a striker (made of iron) and used together with a small stone (usually flint) to create a spark.

I haven't tried the mod yet, but I do know how to make fire!

I also remember putting a level 6 engine in my minibike and going full speed over a hill and flying 200 blocks down the other side. I eventually kept different engines on the minibike to keep this from happening.

Ah, yes. Swapping out engines on the minibike...it was fun finally getting all the best parts for it. I too rode the minibike over a blind rise at high speed and ended in a deep body of water. Rage quit that session.

Most players had underground bases, and although not fully PVP, griefing was a big part of it. Folks would meet up to barter, but kept their bases secret. One player was given away by the sounds of his forge/campfire even though he was at bedrock.

Mining could be fun. Place a stick of dynamite in a horizontal hole hole and then collect all the ore that dropped.

And the hackers who'd fly across the server map looking for bases to demolish. I don't miss that part.

Coughs * Square Voxels * Coughs

Back in the early days of the game the world was indeed portrayed with square voxels. Poor smoothing/transition between one block level and the next. OMG it was awesome once TFP improved on that!

I'd wager the reason we have voxels with diamond 'internals' is so that the smoothing effect in landscape looks more natural with better blending.

If they were to include an airfield that was made of square voxels, I doubt if any of us would like it. But, continue with the joke.

Edit: You've been around these parts for a while. Bored waiting for A21?

This is great news! what about light? will it be fixed that in rooms without windows it is too bright and flashes of lightning illuminate everything around?

Yes to this. Sometimes its too bright. I adjust my video settings, then its too dark for me. Lighting effects could use some smoothing (smaller increments?). Also, it seems inconsistent in A20. Some 'days' its fine. Other times it just appears to be either too bright or too dark. Perhaps its part of weather effects, but indoors we should not see such swings in illumination.

That its taken too long? Few would disagree. That changes in the skill system are not what was expected? You'll find many to agree with you there as well. Bash the base game if you will, but try some modded versions (yeah, makes vanilla players cringe). You may just find a variant you can enjoy. Otherwise, well, sorry for your experience. You do have options.

Well, since the original post has been edited after I wrote this (and I don't recall mention of their modding...my mistake) - makes me look more like the doofus that I probably am.

However, if the OP has modded the game to their liking, perhaps that mod could be shared with the 7DTD community? Maybe its just a map, but sounds like it could be interesting to play. Either way, many hours must have been spent in tweaking....something I can not do.

His nephew does sound like quite the enterprising player though.  Lol. 👍

Let the man enjoy his airports!  XD

I've been in many big airports, and couldn't be more happy to get the hell out. If we had one in the game, I'd relish scrapping it for everything it had to offer.

  20. OK, so the questable POI has two voxels, one atop the other, that are reserved for the quest marker. Can't build there. Makes sense.

These random places in the wild may not be as haphazard as I suspected. If a buried chest is generated to appear once that particular quest has been activated through a trader, then the voxel for the treasure would also be a no-build zone. I suspect these locations are created during a world gen. And if we just so happen to discover one on the side of some mountain whilst terraforming, that could explain it.

My theory anyway. Till proven wrong, I'll live with it.

Must go cull the cow herd now. At least they don't exhibit the 'puppy love' that the boars do, I still feel like I'm in Holstein Hell. If they produced milk, I'd have enough to fill my pond a few times over. lol.  Suppose feeding them hay and placing a scarecrow in the paddock didn't help matters.

A21 has been ready for months!

The only hangup has been TFP had promised themselves to release it on the very first day that there is world peace...

Their only mistake they made, was forgetting that the people of Earth are "Bat Sh*t crazy"!

    Lol, Augie Doggy

There will be no world peace, people will continue to be bat poop crazy, and the A21 will be released later than sooner.

But they're working on it. World peace and bat guano were not mentioned in the kickstarter goals...

  22. I've not been in Navezgane in ages. It was our introduction to the realm of 7DTD. Learn to survive and thrive there, then move on to RWG or player built maps and contiue to hone one's  skills.

Nice idea to merge Navezgane with an RWG map, but how about trying a modded map? Expand one's horizons. Hours of fun await you.

  23. @Laz Man, I'm guessing you don't have a need to visit this part of the forum often. So, these phantom blocks and 'verboten' voxels where a block can't be placed in the game world...have they been addressed in the upcoming Alpha? (with reference to the previous three posts in this thread).

Some are an artefact of POI's - for example house_old_bungalo_11

has a spot  outside the garage that will not allow any block placement on every map I've played. Others seem to be randomly included in a world gen.

  24. Unwanted random blocks that appear in game. No, I doubt if its the result of Khaines's fiddling with the environment. I built my base next to a pond. As the game progresses, I get dirt blocks that fill in up to 75% of the pond surface, yet they're still swishy water underneath. Only remedy I've found is to quit and exit so as to clear out the game memory. Also, its a sign for me to go and get a fresh cup of coffee. Must be an inherent flaw in the base game.

I finished the Lab from Hell challenge. Got some black key cards during it all.  Now, to figure out what they're good for.

Oh, and nice to play where this lab's lower floor actually works as intended and I don't have to cheat to get a laser workbench. Cheating via Dr Anna was a hell of a lot easier than dealing with the lab residents, but I did get better loot from it all.
