  1. I use (or at least used to use) imgur.com or photobucket.com for image hosting links and Youtube for videos. Never rely on this site for that stuff cuz they compress them to the point of being useless most of the time. As far as this game being buggy, sure, it's in development so of course it ain't perfect, and likely never will be since it's never leaving Alpha stage. But since Alpha 1, I've never had a crash to desktop or anything major other than the 2 I mentioned in the forums (vertices glitch during Alpha 3 when building massive skyscrapers causing map corruption, and an annoying stutter issue which lasted a very long time, I think from Alpha 11 to 17 or something).
  2. 7daysOfFun wants the impossible and is in a subtle way bragging about his hardware and money in the process.
  3. That's not entirely how CPUs work. Frequency does make a difference, but generations matter more. Every year, processors become more and more efficient and receive better tech all the time which is why they perform better. So an original Pentium 4 overclocked to 4GHz wouldn't even be able to keep up with a modern generation of an Intel CPU running in single core only even if it was clocked at 2GHz. Also, the game benefits from 4 core threads, not just 1, just in case you thought otherwise.
  4. You're game is heavily modded which is likely the cause of your problems... either one of them is outdated or conflicting with another or just badly made. Or the game with mods really don't like your bare minimum PC hardware.
  5. Yup, not sketchy at all... 🤣
  6. Well, that's not sketchy at all. Brand new account, posting for the very first time in the wrong language and wrong forum section and with a link to a site that I imagine no one here has ever seen before. But hey, at least there's a 7d2d screenshot in the post... so that makes it trustworthy, right? How about hanging out here for a bit and earn some trust and not break any forum rules for a while before posting links like that... otherwise, anyone with half a brain will just assume the possibility of a virus or spyware attached to that download link.
  7. I take it your GPU is also liquid cooled? Is it possible it's one of those lazily assembled coolers that don't provide any cooling for other hot parts on the GPU as Gamer's Nexus on youtube often shows? FYI, it's normal for the GPU and CPU not to reach 100% utilization since the game is cpu bound and only uses like 4 core threads. Though, it should be using a bit more than what you're seeing obviously, as you mentioned. The only thing I can suggest for now is to either drop down to 1080p which is what I remember devs recommending years ago or tuning some settings down till you see better fps (or using that DLSR or whatever it's called that automatically tunes your settings based on fps).
  8. Is that the temp of the liquid or the temp of the CPU and GPU? There's a massive difference, especially if you did it wrong. I've got an RTX 3080 and AMD 5600x and mine stays solid at 60fps with settings maxed out (V-sync and other nonsense disabled), I get no dips at all, ever. Mind you, I run at 1080p. The only things I can think of is either heat related (maybe the motherboard itself?), or a driver issue since 3090s don't get as much driver love as more popular cards do, or something weird going on with your hardware or maybe even background junk software like antivirus or firewall or VPN or fps counter or screen capture, etc...
  9. Well, I did say start over from scratch... so ya, that was probably part of it unless that was stored in Steam cloud. By any chance, do you have an antivirus running in the background or third party apps that monitor fps or screen capture, etc? There's a lot of apps out there that occasionally get in the way of games (including this one) from running correctly.
  10. I don't want to say it's GPU related as it doesn't sound like it at all this time and I am a bit biased against AMD based GPUs (mostly against their software, though I do love their CPUs), but you could try a previous version of the game as you mentioned to see if that helps too. But I'd try the latest stable version of the game before going backwards though.
  11. Not that I've ever had an issue remotely similar to this... yet, but what I would do in that case is to delete all traces of the game from the computer, including registry files and save files... start over from scratch. Then re-download the game and see if that works. If that doesn't work, then something else is going on... make sure you meet minimum hardware requirements, try different launch options, make sure you're running compatible graphics settings like native resolution or 1080p / 1440p for those who can't quite handle 4k, etc.
  12. True... it would be kind of thrilling to have a few surprises like that... especially when driving over them.
  13. I remember when the generated bridges and roofs would collapse under their own weight all the time.
  14. I think the proper way to see this game is as a temporary business. You invest time and money into making the game/ business really profitable, and as long as it's continuing to make profit, you continue to work on it to keep that hype and money flow. Once the money flow starts turning into negative profit (whether there's a player base or not), then the work stops, just like every other successful game that has ever existed. The roughly 200ish million dollars they've received for this game over the years is completely irrelevant to this game's future, as you don't continue to spend into it if there's no more money to be made anymore (that's just considered dumb business practice). This is a world filled with greed after all. My guess is they're keeping as much as they can stored away so they can invest into a brand new possibly larger project later without the need for kickstarter (although, it wouldn't surprise me if they did it anyway, because why not?).
  15. Hookers and blow... what else would they want to spend that kind of money on? I mean, they are "fun pimps" after all, right?
  16. Just a simple dry tissue will work (nothing abrasive). No solvents or liquids of any kind are needed. If you have canned air or air compressor, it's always good to give the PC a blast and be sure to blast the ram slots too. Dust tends to build up on ram sticks over time, especially if you're using stock CPU coolers since those blast the air straight onto one of the ram sticks.
  17. The most common reason for having both random crashing to desktop and restarts is ram errors. Try wiping the ram stick contacts (very carefully) and reseat the sticks to see if that helps. You can also do a free Memtest86 test to see if there's any errors. The DOS version of the test works better, but few ppl know how to do it that way.
  18. I remember when crops could grow under torchlight. I remember when campfires were used to slow zombies down at night. I remember normal shotguns being used to destroy trees quickly I remember when pigs had a habit of climbing ladders. I remember when zombies could reach you further than you could reach them... wait, that's still a thing.
  19. Stupid me, I keep forgetting that option exists.
  20. Last I checked (and it has been a while, so I could be wrong), game only benefits from 4 cores, but it spreads across all cores for heat and stability. So you'll never see it go beyond what you're already seeing anyway even if you got a dozen more players show up in-game. I think you'd get far better results if you make or use a dedicated hosting rig and play the game on a separate PC. You playing the game while also hosting 5 other players is a lot to ask for a single PC. Spreading the load by playing on a separate PC will not only give you far better fps, but the hosting server will also run more smoothly too. First gen Ryzen with 16GB of ram (with crappy GPU) and basic SSD is likely more than plenty for a dedicated host of 6 players. I don't know if running a dedicated server on the same PC you're playing on is a viable / worth doing option. But it doesn't hurt to try it out, so I say go for it if you can't separate the two. Just get the server going first before loading the game so Steam doesn't flip out at you. I do hope you have a decent aftermarket cooler on the CPU though cuz that option sounds toasty warm. If it doesn't work (or doesn't work reliably), you could also try creating a virtual OS and see if that helps since it would dedicate cores to the virtual OS. Also, you can't compare this game with others. This game is like a unicorn among sheep. There's far more calculations and things to render compared to nearly every other game out there. Fully destructible voxel worlds like these with structural integrity calculations are a pig on resources. Imagine a million images being rendered 60 times per second (each block / entity is it's own image) and all images have their own structural integrity calculation based on adjacent images. Compare that to the other games that have a single image for the entire ground (sometimes including the mountains), a single image for each building, etc, and only a few of them calculate if / when they might collapse / change shape.
  21. Woah, since when is a lengthy post like this possible?
  22. It's actually easier and not as much of a nuisance as you think. Simply having 2 computers auto log into separate accounts would do the trick. I myself could pull it off if I was that kind of person. But, given the quantity of reactions given out, you may be right about it not being a 2nd account, or the primary account only posts like a few times a year.
  23. Back in the very early Alpha stages... the game clearly got a lot of inspiration from Minecraft. Over the years, that faded out. I really wished back then that TFP would implement electricity in a similar manner to redstone where you have and/or gates, repeaters, etc... allowing you to invent your own trap design systems / your own complex circuitry instead of only being able to use what's available.
  24. I definitely don't agree with that. The current bandits mod proves just how little they add to the game overall. They don't act like a person at all and are non-interactable. They can walk right by a player-made base and not attack it or even see it as anything other than an obstacle. They only attack when they see a zombie (or animal) or a player which gives away the fact that they're there making them easy to deal with and are never surprised by them. The whole point of a bandit is they try to steal from you at all costs and are usually sneaky about their approach, otherwise they're just really dumb assassins that kill stuff. Also, unless they're in groups, they'll always be incredibly easy to deal with. Without proper AI implementation, bandits just won't add much (if anything at all) to endgame content, especially if they're anything like the mod (no offense to the modder, I'm sure they did the best they could given the limitations). There's nothing left to be said about this user other than what's already been said since this user gives us nothing to go on. And to be honest, I really don't think this user deserves any more attention than is already received, given how unlikeable this person made himself/herself. If you're expecting a cult or something to be formed over this user, then good luck with that. Otherwise, this thread turned into a good convo about other things.
