  1. It's actually easier and not as much of a nuisance as you think. Simply having 2 computers auto log into separate accounts would do the trick. I myself could pull it off if I was that kind of person. But, given the quantity of reactions given out, you may be right about it not being a 2nd account, or the primary account only posts like a few times a year.
  2. Back in the very early Alpha stages... the game clearly got a lot of inspiration from Minecraft. Over the years, that faded out. I really wished back then that TFP would implement electricity in a similar manner to redstone where you have and/or gates, repeaters, etc... allowing you to invent your own trap design systems / your own complex circuitry instead of only being able to use what's available.
  3. I definitely don't agree with that. The current bandits mod proves just how little they add to the game overall. They don't act like a person at all and are non-interactable. They can walk right by a player-made base and not attack it or even see it as anything other than an obstacle. They only attack when they see a zombie (or animal) or a player which gives away the fact that they're there making them easy to deal with and are never surprised by them. The whole point of a bandit is they try to steal from you at all costs and are usually sneaky about their approach, otherwise they're just really dumb assassins that kill stuff. Also, unless they're in groups, they'll always be incredibly easy to deal with. Without proper AI implementation, bandits just won't add much (if anything at all) to endgame content, especially if they're anything like the mod (no offense to the modder, I'm sure they did the best they could given the limitations). There's nothing left to be said about this user other than what's already been said since this user gives us nothing to go on. And to be honest, I really don't think this user deserves any more attention than is already received, given how unlikeable this person made himself/herself. If you're expecting a cult or something to be formed over this user, then good luck with that. Otherwise, this thread turned into a good convo about other things.
  4. Nothing is impossible, especially not giant mobs anymore. This new feature release will allow games to completely improve in texture details while also improving game performances and lowering game load times as well.
  5. True. Even a random sort of boss fight encounter or something to change things up for endgame content would be nice, like a giant mutant like in Resident Evil movies. Or you need to build something large or complex to leave the area sort of endgame thing since the maps have radiated borders, could make it require that special vehicle to get passed it and "win".
  6. So basically a copy paste of the available mods (since that's exactly how the AI in them behave, but with guns or melee weapons), interesting how they haven't done it already.
  7. Something else for the forum wiki list is a history of all the moderators that have contributed to making this place a decent place to hang out, and 1 or 2 that just made the place interesting. ppl like Jeania, LeastConcerns, DocHussey, etc... (I don't remember their exact user names anymore) I think they should be remembered even if they're not here anymore or moderating. Also, I know this is off topic, but I had to put in my own 2 cents on these particular things: Zombie sharks would be a bit dumb considering how tiny the so called "lakes" are... but piranhas could be fun. It would also add some fish to our diet. Though given the lack of attention to underwater stuff, I highly doubt it would ever happen. Children zombies only get suggested by clueless ppl who will never understand just how bad of an idea that is. I really doubt bandits will ever happen, at least not in a way that will work well. Getting AI to work decently requires a lot of work, something these devs aren't known for anymore IMO, at least not in the last few years. And to be fair, there's a lot of games out there that avoid implementing AI simply because of how much work is required to make them decent (off the top of my head, Space Engineers comes to mind). TFP are more known for re-doing things several times because they're never satisfied with anything and it taking them a year each time to get these re-designs done. Bandits / roaming NPCs will likely only ever exist in mod format, and if you've tried those mods, you'd know just how basic they are and likely always will be. What I think the game desperately needs is some visual cleanup because there are a lot of issues relating to what I assume is the game engine and not so much the texture files. During the mornings when the sunlight shines through the grass, it looks really horrible. In the burnt forest biome, there's a thin white outline (kind of like a halo) around all the trees. At 1080p, there's jagged edges on everything (terrible Anti-aliasing or something along those lines). etc.
  8. Sometimes I'll spend over an hour on a single post I made in order to help someone troubleshoot something... and there's nothing more upsetting than when the only feedback you receive is a negative reaction to that post. Also, you can only ignore so many pokes with a stick before it inevitably breaks you.
  9. Well, given that this user never posted at all... I guess steam link was never needed to be done. I don't know how things work anymore as it's been forever since I was moderating here.
  10. I've tried PMing this user many times... trying to get this person to stop reacting to my posts (no matter if it was positive or not), and I got no response and no change in reactions this user would give me. I even tried getting a moderator involved... nothing really came of it other than a longer delay before it started back up again. The word coward is the only word that comes to mind. It may be insulting... but a spade is a spade and an apple is an apple.
  11. That's cuz I rarely post in General... I mainly just help ppl in support sections.
  12. I vaguely remember there being a way to check user IP. And ya, definitely not a dev or support team or even a mod. It's probably just a random user I may have banned years ago back when I was moderating and came back when steam link was removed.
  13. Kuosimodo is nothing more than a coward. He/she judges everyone while staying in the shadows because he/she can't handle being judged. I have zero respect for ppl like that. If I ever find out what this person's primary account is... you can be sure I'll judge every single one of his/her posts the same way mine got judged. This user is pretty much the only user to have ever given my posts a negative emote... and a good quarter of them are getting them now no matter how factually correct and well written they might be. A lot of the times, I wonder if his/her reactions are just randomized because they make no sense. To any moderator reading this... insulting/disrespecting an account that barely exists (no character at all) or an unknown primary account, is that still breaking the rules? It'd be like insulting a ghost. Technically, by saying that, you just confirmed that this user does in fact have a 2nd account which gives the moderators full rights to delete that 2nd account since it breaks rule #1.
  14. Security wise, sure, it's out of date (although, let's be honest, Microsoft's security is a joke and always has been), feature wise that could hinder gaming... debatable. I'll bet I could still get this game to run on Windows XP (the limited 3.2GB of usable ram and old / slow hardware being the only problems), unless this game doesn't support DirectX 10 anymore (I think that was the limit of Windows XP right?).
  15. SMG with less ammo capacity, sure... and I don't even remember the last time I used an SMG. I've never been into spraying and praying. I just go from unskilled handgun to skilled assault and usually ignore all other firearms. I have on occasion used the shotgun though, but I don't much care for that either.
  16. I didn't even know anyone ever used the full auto mod... seems like a blatant waste of ammo and mod spot. Hell, I even use the semi auto mod for my assault rifles.
  17. What is your PSU specs (brand, model, etc)? I know you said it's fine and adequate for the new GPU, but I'd still like to know. I myself felt the need to trade my 2 year old Corsair 750w 80+ Bronze PSU for a new EVGA 850w 80+Gold PSU so as to not worry about "dirty" power fluctuations and whatnot due to my new EVGA RTX 3080 purchase. I imagine the 750w PSU might work fine with the card, or at least for a while, but I also know PSU degradation is a very bad thing on power hungry hardware and putting a large amount of stress on a PSU that isn't really rated to handle it long term is also bad. When a screen blacks out and restarts with no blue screen or anything, it's almost always a hardware issue, most commonly PSU or Ram related (or overclock settings if you're into that, keeping in mind that overclocks don't always stay stable forever, especially if you're on the edge... silicon degrades like anything else). Running benchmarks don't always uncover the problems either. My suggestion would be to run memtest86 which specifically tests all aspects of the ram for errors, and the software is completely free, just requires making a bootable cd or USB stick. As for testing power issues, that's a tricky one as it would likely require multiple benchmarks (for both CPU and GPU) running at the same time while also transferring junk files while rubbing your belly and chewing bubble gum. Seriously, you have to not only push it hard, but also cause sudden power spikes too in order to find that power limit as gaming tends to only push the power limits occasionally like power spikes (when loading new chunks or something or bloodmoon spawning, etc), unless your PSU isn't rated with much wattage in the first place in which case it would likely happen pretty quickly when gaming. Benchmarking is a somewhat stable power draw except when loading the next scene (3DMark might be better for power spikes test, but I don't think it's free). Also, 8+ year old PSU is a pretty old PSU... capacitors degrade over time. A good habit to keep in mind is to deduct 2 - 5% of total wattage capability from the PSU for every year it gets used regularly (percentage depends on the quality of parts inside the PSU). So in your case, that's roughly 16% to 40% total wattage lost due to degradation.
  18. Well, for me, I was very disappointed with the turrets, so I figured dart traps sound even weaker and likely consume just as much ammo... so why bother?
  19. Hmm, ok. Maybe he was just being cautious with his claims. I might give it a go someday if I ever decide to use dart traps.
  20. I did watch the video... and the guy even admitted that the outpost has some limitations, like upredictable cop and demolisher behavior that could ruin your day as well as the fact that it's limited to 8 spawn bloodmoons only.
  21. And what happens if a demolisher or cop does explode? They are kind of unpredictable after all. Somehow I doubt that outpost would survive a single explosion at all. Seems like a high risk end-game outpost to me, especially if you make it into your base with all your important stuff inside it. I imagine that the devs could easily edit some minor code to make that outpost no longer work at all if they wanted to. It is an interesting / fun design though, I'll give it that.
  22. All those who obsess and cry about ppl who make "cheese" builds... there's a good reason why we build them... they work! They have worked since Alpha 1 and no matter what the devs do and no matter how many times they claim cheese builds won't work for long... they always will. You're simply just jealous because nothing you build will ever be as comparable in defense reliability and ease of creation. As you can see, the tower is raised up by 2 blocks (solid concrete core foundation) so even if they did manage to bust inside, they still can't climb up to get me because zombies are dumb and won't break blocks strategically. 3 rows of optional endgame electric fencing around the base + 1 going up the stairs (all are safe behind concrete, but accessible for annoying maintenance). 10 rows of metal spikes, 5 rows of barbed wire. With electric fencing, zombies never make it past those at all since the AK ensures it. Without, they make it roughly half way with the AK, or they can nearly make it to the base if I just sit there and do nothing at all during the entire bloodmoon (dogs can maybe make it to the base, but 1 or 2 barely alive dogs reaching the base is laughable). Warrior? (3/5 on server settings) difficulty. And it doesn't need to be a tower base design either... I've done the upside down pyramid design too which was neat and offered even more rows of spikes under it (though you can't really upgrade the bottom part without risking it collapsing, so build with concrete only), as well as normal pyramid base design which offered less but still worked (I didn't care for it though). Spikes and barbed wire combo are reliable and offer predictable results... electrics are not but they do compliment the spikes and barbed wires very well. Blade traps and turrets... in my opinion, not worth it.
  23. Is this an old save being played on a new version of the game?
