  1. Since you admit you can’t think of a reason, let me offer one: Post Apocalyptic Survival. A PAS world ought to be a struggle to live in. There is a degree of radiation that could cause a percentage of seeds to not germinate. The arguments I have read so far against this idea in every case has been from players who hate unlucky random results because it annoys them. They want only positive results and look at setbacks to the player as bad design. I suggest that PAS games must have chances for failure and setbacks or the world isn’t believable. Sometimes you have to do without and adapt your gameplay because what you planned to happen didn’t work. So, yes, there should be a chance that your farm fails and doesn’t automatically always return enough seeds to sustain it. I get that not everyone has fun the same way. Some people have fun in steadily and without risk of failure getting stronger and more powerful and eventually completely be 100% safe and secure and successful. Some people have fun by achieving all that by Day 3. Other people have fun by overcoming setbacks and recovering when something unlucky destroys their plans and they have to adjust. That’s me. I’m fine with the possibility of getting zero seeds back and having to adjust to this event. I was fine when we had a chance to vomit— maybe 1% instead of 4% and only when infected would have been better but still— I liked how losing all my fullness immediately disrupted my plans and caused me to have to focus on getting food again instead of preparing to be 100% safe on horde night. I hate that the death penalty cures all debuffs because it robs me of the gameplay of working myself out of those conditions. So everyone is different but occasional negative events that randomly set me back and ruin my plans are not things that annoy me. They are fun to play for me and give me a sense of accomplishment just as completing a quest does if I get a broken arm and have no remedy available. The setback makes that quest memorable to me. For my gameplay preferences and what I expect from life after a zombie and nuclear apocalypse the new farming does not feel like bad design to me. But I knew it wasn’t going to be liked by people who loathe negative results on dice rolls and believe that design should never ever ever punish the player but only ever reward the player.
  2. Nobody has been silenced. I just read through pages of the usual angst we get from people who have read the patch notes and then imagine all the worst case scenarios of gameplay plus the usual worry that brand new features added to an alpha game must somehow be in their final intended form— and not a bit of it has been deleted or censored. I have seen some opposing viewpoints and some debate and some differing opinions expressed but that should be expected on a forum. If you offer a viewpoint and someone then offers an opposing viewpoint and you feel “silenced” because of it then it must be that your viewpoint wasn’t as compelling even in your own eyes. The only thing we silence here is rudeness and libelous accusations. You can express that you are worried that farming is going to suck all you want but as soon as you start getting insulting and flaming THEN you will be shut down. Of course some people don’t know how to express criticism without being toxic about it. One poster just wrote that TFP should expect critical feedback when they put their game out to the public. By the same token, if someone puts their idea out to the public on a forum they should expect to read critical feedback about their point of view. But some people just want to be able to write something and have it stand without commentary. To that I say, go invest in a journal and start keeping a diary of criticisms that never get challenged…
  3. They are sooooooo much more fun to find than stone axes, stone hammers, and stone shovels in crates. they’re also rewarding to craft. I might not be able to make bacon and eggs unperked but give me some glue, cloth, and pipes and I’ll fashion together something that can kill you.
  4. It has been a good shot in the arm for the crafting game. I have often crafted my first pipe weapon that I wanted before I could find one. It feels awesome even though the dang things are practically a waste of ammo to use shooting at zombies...lol But I waste that ammo every single time. Good to see you here Matt There was a lot of discussion about this in the dev chat. Same concerns you are voicing were raised and assessed and after testing it they felt it was viable. You'll have to try playing it to see how it feels for you. The farming change is one we knew would be one of those controversial polarizing A20 features...
  5. There are two realities at play here: Most who are playing MP will play all weekend together so even if they could play solo they will most likely want to play with their friends and do it that way. There is no way to enforce or monitor whether someone who has been invited to play with a streamer is sneaking a solo play in their basement with the shutters drawn.
  6. You have permission to upload videos of your gameplay. The terms of service you agreed to when you bought the game allow you to do so. The End User License Agreement is your license to record and upload videos of gameplay. Have fun and good luck growing your channel. Get to 5k and you can join our A21 Stream Team!!!
  7. After you wake up. Streamers are allowed to play multiplayer with people of their choosing. The rule isn't that they can't share the password with those who will be playing with them, the rule is that those people cannot stream on their own channels. This game shines best when playing with a crew so we wanted to make sure there was plenty of that type of gameplay shown.
  8. I never messed much with the drone as a fully perked intellect player. Could it be that it is simply referencing that a fully perked player can have 3 robots functioning at once so an unperked player would have to choose between drone and turret?
  9. Here's one https://www.twitch.tv/vertiigogaming
  10. A20 has been released to the streamers and they are in the process of downloading it. Streams should be starting soon.
  11. They aren't making a sim. If you want simulation level survival you will need to adjust the setting through modding in order to get that. Its actually fantastic that the option exists for people to turn this game into anything they want from one end of the spectrum (sim) to the other (arcade).
  12. Sorry Ezuna. Your trollish hunger has been fed enough. No need for another fishing trip so soon after your other one. It is what it is: 20 Alphas in 8 years. If you can't deal with it then move on to a new game. With your 3000 hours of enjoyed time with the game causing you to love it, its fine. You got good value.
  13. Remember! Twitch Integration = Random Event Manager Prototype
  14. Instead of calling it "Twitch Integration" call it "Random Event Manager Prototype" and you will have legitimate reason to celebrate all of Lathan's work in this area even if you never ever participate in a single stream. Not to take anything away from A20 but the future has some game changing awesomeness in store.... Yeah...sorry about all you people who live in the future. When my kids were young and worried about what might happen the next day I would just tell them not to worry because there were already people in the world living tomorrow.
  15. It will be in the afternoon-- definitely not before 12pm Central Standard Time in the USA. The morning will be filled with debriefing and working through any last issues that emerged during the weekend that they deem Must Fixes. I think the last two updates (a18 and a19) released at around 2 or 3pm CST.
  16. Fans: When is A20 experimental coming out?! When!? When!? When!? TFP: Okay, okay... Its coming Monday. Fans: Yayy! When is A20 stable coming out?! When?! When?! When?!
  17. It all depends upon what ends up needing to get fixed/changed. It is definitely possible and definitely impossible to predict with any certainty. Halle- frickin- lujah I finally have this statement from sheetz without having to piece it together from three different sentences.... #achievement get
  18. TFP FINALLY managed to somehow come up with an ETA. Dec 6th is official.
  19. Alpha 20 will be released to experimental* on Monday December 6, 2021. We wish to remind everyone that this will be an experimental release through Steam's beta opt-in interface. On Friday December 3, 2021, streamers around the world will showcase the experimental build and we hope that you will tune in and participate in the fun. Keys for a free copy of the game will be given away and many of the Twitch based streamers will be utilizing Twitch Integration which will allow you to participate in their gameplay in fun and often hilarious ways. It should be a great weekend long celebration of A20's long awaited arrival! The release notes for A20 have been posted if you wish to look at all the official changes and additions in detail: https://7daystodie.com/a20-official-release-notes/ Happy Days are Here Again, Survivalists!!! *A20 will be named "latest_experimental" in the list of opt-ins. It is usually at the bottom of the list so keep scrolling down. It is necessary to start a fresh game for A20 and advisable to use the cleaning tool in the game launcher UI in order to clear out any and all old saves and maps which might interfere with the new build once you download A20 experimental. To use the cleaning tool you will do the following: 1. Start the game normally 2. Select Show Game Launcher instead of Play Game 3. Click on the Tools Tab 4. Click on the option to clean and then select everything that can be selected 5. Click clean. To be on the safe side, when you generate a new map for A20, please do not name it the same as any previously named maps you have done. Same with the name you choose for your save. Pick something new. Please note that the pregen maps are brand new for A20 and so are excellent maps to start with if you want to get playing right away. They are completely different than the Pregen maps of the past.
  20. haha...You don't want to know how many times I've had to watch knitting youtubes if I want to be in the same room with the family...
  21. Let me help you out: They are watching someone play AND they ALSO play it themselves. Two different types of entertainment that deliver enjoyment to those who like it. In fact, some might even do both at the same time: Play 7 Days to Die on their PC WHILE they watch on their phone. No need to try and categorize people as either player or viewers. But I get what you are feeling. My wife and daughter like to knit and I have never understood their fascination with it and frankly if they need to validate themselves by making things out of yarn they probably need to re-evaluate their lives. Of course there are also people out there who think that people like you and me who play video games and communicate on internet bulletin boards need to re-evaluate our lives because we are wasting a whole bunch of time on worthless activities. The worth of any particular activity seems to be relative...
  22. We haven't seen the "Smells like fresh A21" meme from @Laz Man yet. Can't happen until Laz does his part. Rick Huenink is "The Fun Pimp" here on the forums. I made no typo.
  23. No. Announcing a date that doesn't pan out is punishing enough. Trust me, I know...
