Converter of saving old versions of the game to the current one. Is it possible ?

Recommended Posts

Release 1.0 implies the impossibility of using saves of older versions of the game, such as alpha 21.b37, for example. Therefore, no matter how much efforts you done to create your base in the old version, in the new one you will have to start from the beginning. Question: is it possible to create a utility that converts the saves of previous versions into a save format for the new version of the game ? Thanks !

  • Voxor changed the title to Converter of saving old versions of the game to the current one. Is it possible ?

Quite obviously the structure and contents of any given save file(s) change between major versions.  Hence, the forward/reverse compatibility issue.

Reading between the lines a little, the base seems an important component to you.

Perhaps, research how to save your current base as a POI and insert it into new worlds?  (It's currently feasible and several YouTube VODs can show how.)

I have attempted to do this a few times without success.

It is fully understandable since so many things are being changed, but are you guys planning, when Steam Workshop is implemented when gold version is released, to give us the option to save POIs, such as our own bases, to be shared around the community (and of course use/upgrade them in our new savegames) ?
