archsmx Posted October 31 Share Posted October 31 hi all i play on linux on the 21.1 stable since the last steam update (from early a week i think) i have problems with 7 days to die basically. i play at this game with ge proton or proton and it's the same problems. before the steam update all was great. since the update, i can play solo without problem but if i host a game, when a friend join, my game crash totally and automatically close after some seconds. i have already try to do a new clean install of linux, a new install of steam and a new install of 7 days to die, and the problems are the same. on the same pc with windows all works fine. can someone help me please? thanks a lot! You're okay. The NetworkWorkaround just needs to be run on the client. When a client connects to a server, the server/client negotiates the MTU and if the setting is turned on by the client, the server will agree to the max MTU that the option sets it to. If you're still crashing... it's something else (or maybe this and something else, too). I believe you're the second person lately I've seen with issues using AMP. I'm not familiar with it at the moment (will learn it tonight), but a really good test would be to see if you can run the dedicated server without it, and just use the built-in one. From what I gather, AMP manages your game servers for you and has a graphical interface, but also adds functionality to the server. Information like: Are you the host, is he the host? Is the client crashing the host or does the client crash when it attempts to connect to the host? shimdidly Posted November 26 Share Posted November 26 I'm having the same issue. Very similar situation to OP, we are on Vanilla client (no AMP, no mods) and Linux host. Host crashes when anyone attempts to join. Joining via Steam crashes in every scenario. IP joining still crashes if client is joining from WAN. We have tried all the same things as the OP (Proton vs. native build, etc.). Network Workaround also does not fix it. The only workaround is to join from a machine on the same LAN using the "connect IP" option. All other options fail. Never was an issue before. Started happening since A21. Dejavuproned Posted November 27 Share Posted November 27 Hello, I would like to report the same issue. Specifically with both users on steam deck, the host will crash when the other player joins. The player won't even load in, as soon as the connection attempt is made it crashes the hosts game but not the one who's connecting if that makes sense. Steam deck to steam deck connection worked fine even in A21 up until the most recent update, since the update it has not worked at all but single player works fine. Have tried various proton versions and using the network workaround mode. Also reinstalled the game fully. Neither solution worked. Any assistance would be appreciated.
