Back in 2022 I started this project with the the purpose to Fix all the Iron Sights of vanilla weapons! One day I just got tired of those nonsensical misaligned sights on the top of the Pistol, Hunting Rifle, SMG, Ak47, etc... and I started looking for a way to align them and improve the Model of the poor looking ones. And when I finally succeeded, I certainly didn't stop there! As time went by, I studied and found a way to improve the weapons in their various aspects, from their Model and Textures to the Shooting System itself I even managed to add New Components to the weapons and give shape to those Mods (such as Retracting Stock, Magazine Extender, etc.) that you don't normally see! At some point I decided to completely overhaul the concept of the Scope Aiming System, allowing the Player to use the Real Scope installed on all Vanilla Weapons rather than a small reticle drawn on a black background. Once I got the hang of it, I was able to add more complexity on the Movement System, making it much more Interesting and dynamic. In the future I plan to add more features to the mod, I certainly won't stop there! Being one of those people who had the chance to play and fell in love with this game from the very first Alpha 1 back in 2013 (yes, the one that crashed every five minutes), I wanted to develop this mod as a tribute to the good old days! The Mod currently works for Version 1.0. Keep in mind, because it uses libraries in order to work, it may not be EAC friendly! Because I love this game and I want to try to improve it as much as possible! ➡️ ALIGN AND IMPROVE THE IRON SIGHTS • The iron sights have been shortened to the correct height. • Scopes, Reflex and Iron Sights are perfectly aligned. • Iron Sights that did not match the aesthetics of the weapon have been replaced with a new model. • Front and Rear Sights have been added to weapons that lacked them. • Meshes and Textures on the back of the weapon have been improved to maintain quality when aiming. • The zoom on the iron sight is now set correctly. ➡️ SCOPE AIMING SYSTEM OVERHAUL • The Scope Aiming concept has been completely overhauled, removing the old zoom method based on a reticle on a black background. • You can now use the scope installed on the weapon directly (In a COD-BF style). • It works on all Vanilla Weapons, and could theoretically work on all weapons (with a proper configuration of the XML "DLX-ConfigFile.xml" file) • A system has been created to make the scope system dynamic and interesting in terms of movement and light/shadow on the lens. • Reticles are customisable in Shape, Size and Colour. Weapon scopes are customisable separately! • Textures and Mesh have been improved so you can aim with the scope without losing texture quality. • An external lens reflects the environment in a dynamic way. • Scratches have been added to the right side of the scope to differentiate between 2X, 4X and 8X scopes. • The Background is visible and slightly blurred when aiming with the scope. • Zoom-when-crouch feature: When crouched, the scope zooms smoothly to full 2X, 4X or 8X, producing a sound. ➡️ MOVEMENT SYSTEM • A New System has been created that makes the Movement much more dynamic and interesting when the Player looks around, runs, aims and shoots. ➡️ NEW MOD MODELS • Models have been added for those mods that are normally not visible, such as the Magazine Extender, Muzzle Brake, Fore Grip etc... ➡️ ANIMATIONS • Improved Weapon Fire and Weapon Reload Animations to make them smoother. • New weapon components have been animated, such as the Pistol Hammer, the Ak 47 Charging Handle, Lever Action Rifle Bolt etc... ➡️ BULLET SHELLS, MUZZLE SMOKE AND LIGHT • Bullet shells have been added that emerge from the chamber and are visible both when firing from the hip and when aiming. • They interact dynamically with the environment. • Muzzle Smoke coming out of the chamber after firing has been added. • Muzzle smoke remains for several seconds after the gun is fired. • Muzzle Fire and Light that illuminates the environment have been added. ➡️ SCOPE CUSTOMIZATION • Remember that each scope (2X, 4X and 8X) of each weapon can be customised separately! • Here are the nine possible Reticle Shapes you can choose from. • Just open the file “DLX-ConfigFile.xml”, search for the term “Reticle_Shape” of the desired weapon and write the chosen Shape in the “value” parameter! (eg. <parameter name="4X_Reticle_Shape" value="Reticle_05"/>) • Reticle_00 Triangle • Reticle_01 Simple Cross • Reticle_02 Cross and Circle • Reticle_03 Open Cross • Reticle_04 German Reticle • Reticle_05 Open Circle • Reticle_06 RangeFinding • Reticle_07 Three Marks • Reticle_08 Three Marks and Circle • Same thing with the Reticle Color, which is written in RGB form (0-255, 0-255, 0-255). • Just open the file “DLX-ConfigFile.xml”, search for the term “Reticle_Color” of the desired weapon and write the chosen Color in RGB form in the “value” parameter! (eg. <parameter name="4X_Reticle_Color" value="255, 255, 255"/>) • Same thing with the Reticle Size. • Just open the file “DLX-ConfigFile.xml”, search for the term “Reticle_Size” of the desired weapon and write the chosen Size form in the “value” parameter! Henshaw Posted April 20, 2022 Share Posted April 20, 2022 Great idea for a mod, thank you for making it. I'm especially looking forward to the scopes, as the current ones are very "gamey" for the reasons you described. I'm not a fan of Iron Sights in games, as they never really represent how they are used in reality (worst example are pistols, which are not held 5 centimeters from your face 😄), but anything better than current is an improvement into the right direction. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Short answer: YES 🔥🔥🔥 I intend to intervene on all current guns, including the Magnum, SMG, Hunting Rifle and so on, to align the front sight and make the scope usable directly from the model on the gun. Unfortunately, in these years I have never seen a real improvement on weapon mechanics. Sure, pipe weapons have been added and other gun's models have been improved, but many other features have been left unchanged. The sights of many firearms are misaligned or even missing. There is still too much use of crosshair directly on the screen, even when aiming. The "reticle on a black screen" method, which i've never liked, is still used when aiming with scopes. The recoil of the weapons is still pretty basic. When aiming the gun is completely still, as if the person holding the gun is not breathing or something. I am currently focusing on the AK47. It's quite a long job as I had to redo the textures and redesign the upper part of the gun, but I'm moving on. You can now use the Scope directly from the Scope Model. Zoom on the weapon when aiming with Scope is correctly set. Added a Spent Bullet Shell that dynamically interacts with the external environment. Added Muzzle Smoke, Muzzle Fire and Muzzle Light. Animated the Charging Handle. Animations have been made smoother. Revised Ak 47 Model and Texture. Removed the Rail on the top of the gun. The Dust Cover is further rounded. Added new models for mods currently not visible on the weapon. Magazine Extender. Drum Magazine. Retracting Stock. Fore Grip. Bipod. Muzzle Brake. Bartledoo Posted May 4, 2022 Share Posted May 4, 2022 I haven't been this excited for a mod in a long time. You highlight pretty much every gripe I have with guns in this game. I do have a few questions though, will your custom scopes work with custom gun mods? I know that simply attaching the model of the new scope on a gun isn't simple and requires lining up the actual reticle and such, but would it be possible to create a patch between this mod and other larger known gun mods and modpacks? Also, will there ever be options for different models for the scopes? I love that you are keeping the feel of the vanilla game with the dirty and DIY like scopes, but will there ever be options for a cleaner, more modern type acog or something? Deceptive Pastry Posted May 16, 2022 Share Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) I'm really into this. The A20 models are nice and all but I hate what they did with the iron sights. They look ridiculous. And I love your approach to scopes. I made some custom scope sprites a while back to make them a little more realistic, but I couldn't get the peripheral blur like I wanted. And they were still 2D. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the red tint to all the reflex sights/scopes. Reduces the contrast between the reticle and target. IRL looking through a reflex sight they're generally clear or have a very slight bluish tint (Due to the reflection of red light. Different laser color will have a different tint, being designed to reflect a different wavelength). LonesomeRaven31 Posted May 22, 2022 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I love this mod. It's one of my favorites and an absolute must have for me. Did have a question that's not really against the mod itself but just pure curiosity. I play a lot more Darkness Falls than I do vanilla and from what I can tell, this mod works with DF except for the AK 47. Any idea why that would be? I would get it if it was some crazy laser weapon that Khaine made up and that's why it's not working, but it's just the normal AK that seems to have an issue at the moment. The ammo count in the bottom right disappears and if it's loaded before you install this mod and you come back into the game, you can shoot but the bullets dont do any damage at all. Pistol works great, same with the hunting rifle. Like I said, pure curiosity, not saying anything negative about the mod and I'm sure it wasn't built with DF in mind. The SMG is the next weapon I'm working on. 🔥🔥 It is almost ready and will be released in a few days. It just needs a few more fine tweaks. ✔️ I will also prepare a quick video for this new update. I'm sorry but unfortunately I have to proceed more slowly during this period . . . . I am in the middle of my summer session and I have to study to prepare for the exams at the Uni (conducting a M. Sc ) Also, I started working in another project, something that I will eventually merge to this mod.... something that will make this mod a Non-EAC one ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (yes, a library project). I'm playing with the darkness falls overhaul and it was working with the hunting rifle, but it causes the ak to not reload. Not only I am in the middle of my studies, but unfortunately I also took covid 😐 so I spent a few days totally wiped out. But I have some news. In these days I have been working on the Magnum, which I have almost finished and it will be released in a few days.
