  1. You're right and I misread. As for viability, is it fun? Do YOU like it? That's the only opinion that's worth its weight. Everyone plays differently. I tend to change how I do things with every new play through, so, would I play that way? Maybe, but to totally rely on my nasty, naughty, awful RNG sprites would be just insane, so, I probably would not try that until I'm pretty certain of the way they have weighted things.
  2. You also have to consider the nasty RNG that sometimes rears its ugly head. You never know... Some people would rather put the points into actual fighting skills or into skills that will net them particular crafting magazines. I think they've done a good job anticipating possibilities and what will work best for the majority of players. Using a single experience to try to justify a need for loot adjustment is not practical. I'm sure they are carefully watching Sparks to learn this information.
  3. Says someone who should know better.... Stable only means that it's stable for THIS BUILD, not necessarily for the entire alpha. Stable build to stable build is for those who don't want to lose their progress while the alpha is going on. The developers will attempt to make sure that a stable build will work well with the next stable build WITHIN an alpha. So, for those folks, who aren't into bug hunting or like long, long play-throughs, they wait for stable, and stay in STABLE. I, however, love bug hunting and don't mind starting over as many times as necessary to help find problems so they CAN have a stable build. Understand?
  4. I gotta say, these missions are the most fun I've had in vanilla in a long, long time. I'm a stealth player and really prefer that game style. I balked at the newer mechanic that trigger activated swarms of zombies but, once I got fully perked and outfitted, I'm finding less and less to complain about, and more and more to enjoy. Tier 5 missions have been a boring, onerous chore for me in solo for AGES to the point where I just didn't want to do them. These new missions, though, are just fun. Using Tier 4 POIs and filling them with gobs of feral/radiated goodness is just perfect, challenging without being tiring, and actually great! I'm especially loving the new and refurbished Tier 4 POIs and taking my time getting to know them well. Thank you! I've not played MP yet with this alpha so can't say how that will be, but I am enjoying solo very, very much.
  5. I much prefer building my own bases, but with the total dearth of ready-to-use cobblestone in a21, I've been using existing POIs to call home, then just building a separate horde base. I'm lazy, too, so there's that. I'll be starting over when the next experimental drops, though, and, so far, have used three different POIs for every new experimental drop, each of them one of the new POIs, and have really enjoyed the experience.
  6. I started finding beakers at around GS70ish. I've found them in Pop-n-Pills crates, in air drops, and from the trader. But, I didn't see ANY until I was higher level/GS. I've not checked the config files to see if it's set up that way on purpose, though. It could just be an RNG thing. Try doing some of the T4 Infested quests. Just take your time and move slowly, clearing as you go. They're set up in T3 POIs so choose one you know well and pay close attention, take out as many as you can before they all wake. Works great and you get those T4 rewards.
  7. THIS!! You have to remember that the developers must keep the base game playable for NEW players. It's a balancing act I'd certainly not wish to try to do, but it's something that they must do. As long as they're able to create a stable, well crafted base game, all this other can come later on either through mods, or in future settings or DLC once we go gold. Let them watch and see how it goes and I hope to the gods that they're NEVER going to go off the stuff that gets ranted on here in the forums since the people who are out there enjoying what they've created, don't usually spend all their time here. They'll come and check when there's an issue or try to find an answer to a problem, but, honestly, they're too busy having fun the rest of the time.
  8. In early game, you use whatever you get your hands on, and, if it's better than you can make, heck yeah! Perking, though, now makes it easier to get to those weapons you enjoy more, though, my RNG sprites are arsehats and tend to give me less of what I want (magazines for my preferred weapon) just because they suck. So... yeah.
  9. What throws me off is this.... some people spend more time in the forums, than in the game so what you may be reading is not exactly what people who are enjoying and PLAYING the game may feel. I come in here when it's night time in the game and I don't feel like dealing with what I set my zombies to for night time (sometimes I go overboard) or when I'm waiting for something to craft. Lots of others are the same! So, take what you read with a grain of salt and don't think EVERY one of the thousands and thousands of players feel that way! I'm having a blast, actually! Some changes make me balk, at first, but I'm old so that's how things are. It gets better as it goes, though, so, there's that! *back to the infested nastiness*
  10. There were issues with those earlier builds and trader distances, but my latest maps have put me within a kilometer of the trader. My roads, including the smallest cattle trails, are just wonderful! Are you sure you're on the latest build and you deleted all mods and old maps before starting this latest one?
  11. I had to stop playing for a moment just to give praise where it's totally due. The new roads in RMG are spectacularly well done. I finally got wheels enough to go exploring in the 7k map I made, and wound up on back roads in the high country. Super smooth, excellently executed switchbacks that were fun as hell to navigate just made me grin from ear to ear. Exploring is one of the best parts of 7 Days for me, and this has been an issue for a long time. However, kudos and my heartfelt thanks to the team or person who worked on roads for this build. You are appreciated!
  12. I sure am glad you said this. I outgrew spray-n-pray/heavy armor a good 4k hours ago and really didn't want to go back to that. I'm old, and my reaction time just is not what that style of play needs. I don't mind occasional crazy, but... man, some of those trigger points need to be looked at OR give us a setting that tones it down a hair. Thanks! Oh, and please tell whoever did the map icon/compass coding 'I LOVE IT!' and I'm really glad they added the little blurb that tells you what's happening when you click the icon. I had wondered where my compass marks for the trader went. I'd also like to remove two of the THREE Trader Rektum entries that cannot be deleted but popped into existence when I entered his compound on day one of b323. It's strange that we can't remove them.
  13. Thank you! I really try not to use DM or console when testing so I appreciate the work you did. Helps my poor brain understand a bit better. Other than the decided dearth of magazines in this build, I can work with this. They're getting more and more scarce... wonder why that decision was made. 😛
  14. Well, the suppressor on the pipe guns doesn't really look like a professionally made one, it's well done visually and fits, in my book. And, to note, I just hit tier 4 stone tools, and they have 2 slots where the tier 3 had 1. I purchased a tier 5 iron spear from Rekt, wonder of wonders, and it has 3. So, it's rearranged but I'm not entirely sure of what it's going to be as we progress, so I'll hold my ire and shoot at the ferals with my primitive bow, and hope.
  15. So, since I'm still on stone tools and spears and wooden clubs, having one mod slot at tier 3, is a good decision.... Not at tier 5 yet since I started a new map/game with this drop, but you honestly think that having ONE mod slot for the entire stone level, tier 1 through 5 is the way to even out item progression? Seriously... so, this means the iron level would have, what, 2 mod slots for tier 1 though 5? Those levels took me days to progress through with the magazine nerf in the last build. I'm saying, either up the magazine count to earlier levels, or something! I'm already getting ferals on day 1 since my trader is on the edge of a city so, yeah, sure.
  16. I absolutely do NOT agree that the changes to mod slots for lower tier weapons/gear was needed or should have been implemented. With the nerf to magazines already slowing progression to a crawl (this does not include try-hards who do nothing but rush, rush, rush, so don't even), this means that even if we find decent mods, we only have ONE slot until we've found enough magazines of that particular type to progress to the next tier of weapon/gear. Really? Why did you think this was necessary? Either fewer magazines OR allow us to, at very least, buff our pitiful weapon enough to stay alive to find more magazines. I was okay with the fewer magazines, did just fine since, as I got a few more and could make a little better weapon, I could add some tiny bit of damage with mods! Good grief. This makes no sense to me. As it stands, I doubt I'll ever be able to climb back up to the difficulty level I was able to enjoy before. Sad and annoying...
  17. Honestly, I've had to lower my difficulty due to this, which, considering the fact that my advanced age has drastically reduced my ability to respond fast enough to keep me alive against a mob of those feral-radiated zombies, I've just stopped doing the Tier 5 POIs at all. Sure, the rewards for them are borked at the moment, but I was enjoying learning the new POIs up until I hit Tier 5. Most are just not fun even after adjusting difficulty to Adventurer, and I game to have fun. I love jump-scares, don't get me wrong, but I have more fun figuring out how to outwit the POI rather than being just bum porked for absolutely no reason. If I can't find a way to get to sleepers using ninja skills and brains, if I'm absolutely going to have to rely on shotties and AKs and spray-n-pray for those areas, it's just not as much fun for me. I'm okay with the majority of the Tier 4s. Some have that mechanism built in, but not most and certainly not all. So, I'm still having fun with my game and have no desire to quit. I'm just a bit disappointed that I'll have to wait until I'm playing MP with friends to see some of the newer ones. I have no desire to 'god' mode it. I like surprises... just not mean ones.
  18. No.. I graduated to smoothies as soon as my farm was up and running well. I don't get thirsty any more and certainly not infected. I think I've come to the conclusion that my memory is faulty since, for the past 10 months until a21exp dropped, I was playing overhaul mods. Those have differing stamina balances than vanilla and that's on me since I've not been playing vanilla since last experimental.
  19. No, tier 5 steel... maybe that's it. I do have ergonomic grip in it, though, and don't ever use power attacks. I can one shot ore with normal attacks since I set damage to 300%. I'd lose my mind otherwise... gah.
  20. I have mine maxed, as well, but only t5 pickaxe, and my stamina is constantly falling. So, is something else affecting it? Just wondering.
  21. You'd think.... but no. Unless the localization hasn't been added and neither have the buffs... Edit* Second check, it's there, but I surely don't feel that it's working as it should. By this point, with SexRex, and one-shotting ore, stamina shouldn't be disappearing so quickly, but then, maybe I'm just remembering in a faulty way. Especially if I'm the only one feeling it.
  22. I just did a GS62 Bloodmoon and got 2 dropped which, considering I've only ever gotten one other one from a T3 POI, seems a tad low. The rewards were a bit disappointing, as well.... I have one point into Treasure Hunter put in just before the Bloodmoon so not sure about that drop rate thing. Suspicious, though.
  23. So, I completely understand the transfer of stamina regen for weapon use from the old Sexy T-Rex to perks related to those particular melee weapons yet, though SexRex actually controlled the stamina use for tools as well as melee in earlier alphas, I have found NOTHING that will enhance stamina use for tools in a21. What am I missing? Is this intended, and though I've been researching it for a few hours, I've found nothing mentioning it in bug reports or in update notes. Is it that I'm just overlooking it, which is entirely possible considering my advanced age? Thanks for the help if anyone actually knows.
  24. I'm sorry but I've not gotten to the hospital yet in a21 so not sure if things are changed. Be sure to check windows as well as that hole in the wall. See if you can see anything that may be light based further away. Windows sometimes lead to tiny ledges that you scramble around to another entry point. Sometimes, the lights will lead you to an area with a trapped floor that will deposit you into the area you're supposed to be for the path (usually including an ambush). Otherwise, I'd have to find a hospital and work my way through it which, I've not found one yet in my current world so.. there's that.
