  1. Well, a couple of things.

    1. 101 mods is probably too many. You will typically start to see issues when you exceed about 50. Combine where you can, and that will help server performance.

    2. The issue you have, is not an issue with the game client or server. It is with a 3rd-party tool. You need to seek help with the tool support forum thread or discord.

I understand that it'll be released as a new game by fun pimps no tell tales. Fun pimps said like 3 months ago they were working on console but what does that mean 5 years from now it'll release? any updates the new game will have console didn't have just news about console they don't give anything you know such a great game but it's sad playing the old game as fun pimps say consoles worked on but nothing happens been 2 years they said they were working on it last they said was something at twitchcon last year and I heard nothing about it online

All known news is announced in the Console section of the forum.

Originally they were not going to release the new console version until after the PC game was completed and released.

Instead they found a developer to work on it, and started early. They plan to have a version (not final) available shortly after the release of Alpha 22.  You would know all of this if you read the correct section of the forum for the information. The most recent news is from September of last year, and is posted online right here in the correct section of the forum.

That is the news available. If you choose not to believe it, that is on you. If you choose to ignore it, that is on you.

  3. It would be useful to know how you have the server set up, and what specific things you want them to have access to. Especially because most methods to allow them to change configs are going to require allowing them a lot of other access you may not want them to have.

Also note that most settings should not be changed willy-nilly, so I am always suspect when a person says they want to allow people to change configs. If you're making changes often enough to need to allow someone else to do it for you, you may be tinkering too much to expect stable gameplay.

    Full console log

    This is what we needed.

First, you have a number of mods either not updated for a21, or not updated for the current version of a21.

Add to that the fact that you're loading about four times more mods than your CPU is truly capable of managing. It for sure isn't capable of supporting a player count of 50.

Then the game tries to load the xml, but because of the above two issues, it is broken.

2024-01-12T22:20:18 39.878 ERR XML loader: Loading and parsing 'recipes.xml' failed
2024-01-12T22:20:18 39.883 EXC Attempted to divide by zero.

    Anything after that is pointless.

is there any way to bypass the restriction.

No the restriction is there on purpose. You cannot use a setting that exceeds the capability of your hardware.

Just to clear up what was posted months ago about this....

The game is CPU bound, not GPU bound like most games.  This means your graphics card has relatively limited impact compared to other games.  That doesn't mean you can't get by with a low end card, but the card has less impact than the CPU.

That said, you can do just fine with a 4GB GPU.  You aren't guaranteed to be able to use ultra settings, though you can use settings that are medium to high without any trouble if the rest of your computer is decent.  I have a low end gaming desktop (HP Pavilion) from about 5 years ago and it runs the game very well.  I did upgrade RAM from 8GB to 32GB and added a new SSD because the boot drive (SSD) was too small for the game to easily fit on and the other drive was HDD, which is a really bad place for this game to be installed.  Other than that, it is an older AMD CPU and GPU.  I really only have issues in large towns and usually only after being in them a while and only when driving fast.  Otherwise, I'll get smooth gameplay even on horde nights when tons of zombies.  That said, I don't get 100+ FPS, but you don't need that for the game to be smooth.

And all that for a $700 desktop.  Definitely don't need a $2000 computer for this game.  But if you can afford that, it will certainly benefit you in other games.

As to why they limit settings if your computer can't handle it?  They probably don't want to deal with a bunch of people complaining about crashes related to their settings when there isn't anything they can do to help you with having a low end computer.  But that's just a guess.  And games block you based on hardware and some don't.  My biggest problem with blocking users is that I've had games that couldn't identify my hardware and assumed I had low end hardware when I had much better than it needed and that block prevented even being able to load the game.  I'd rather just have a warning than to block users.  And then if it crashes... Well, you've been warned.

I did a very similar build for a friend about that long ago. Got an Acer system with an i7-8400 and 8GB RAM. Dropped in a 1060 6GB, another 8GB RAM, and a couple of SSD's. Game runs well enough at 60-90FPS with moderate settings at 1440p. Out the door it was only around $650-700.

The "AI changes" were (according to the programmer who did it) a complete rewrite of old code because the old code was too inflexible to handle NPC as well, especially bandits. So a rewrite was done more than 3 years ago that could accomodate anything from dumb (for zombies) to intelligent (for bandits and NPC). Just that "dumb" didn't mean exactly like with the old AI code but a different sort of "dumb".

We can cite other similar changes as well. Like when you could just make a pyramid of inverted wedges, and be safe because zeds couldn't walk up that slope but the player could.  Fixing it so that zeds could walk up those slopes wasn't done to combat cheese bases, but because the zombie AI should be able to walk on the same blocks the player can to follow the breadcrumbs. So in reality, it was an effort to improve the zed AI and make it behave properly, rather than being just to fix a cheeze exploit.

Same reason log spikes were removed. Zed pathing had a problem navigating them. Though that was also heavily exploited just by turning them upside down.  So now you can make the shape, but the block does not deal damage.

You can change the frequency after the last blood moon horde and it should count it correctly.   So after the first one on Day 7, change the frequency to 6

If I recall correctly, the horde day is scheduled at the end of the horde. If you change it at that point, the change will not take effect until after the next scheduled horde. So you would need to start the game with the value of 7. Then before the first night change it to 6. Then again before the night of the 13th change it to 5. And so on.

Regarding mods, my friends who play on Steam also have them and can access them, including me, when I hosted the server myself, I had no problems.

Regarding the connection, you're right, we had already noticed. The connection only appears on the console when they access it through Steam, in the case of GamePass, which is where the problem is, the connection does not appear.

Regarding the ports, I've seen several people who managed to solve the problem by going to the modem and opening the modem ports, but unfortunately I can't do that. I've tried several times and the modem didn't open any ports or simply didn't work.

In the case of the host, the server is rented, but I have access to some settings, I just don't know what I should do.

If you are unable to forward the ports, then enable SteamNetworking. It will add latency as it basically uses Steam servers as a VPN. Also make sure they are available in the firewall of the host. Since you are renting, the support team should be able to assist you with that.

  9. Your friend has the Lam Alternative HUD mod 2, which is for Alpha 20 and should not be used in Alpha 21. Working HP Bar also is not properly updated. They should just delete those and make sure that they have nuked all previous version data.

The server does throw a socket connection error when starting up. Ensure that the ports are open and available.

It does get to where it shows it has connected to Steam/EoS, and is live, but the log does not extend any past that.

Friend is getting connection failure message, and I don't see any connection from them on the server. In addition to the host checking that the server ports are available, they should be sure to exclude the client and save folders from security software. This is covered in the Pinned FAQ Thread.
