Say it is not so. I thought the Series S was a stripped down Series X. Though I have waited to get the new gen until 7Days, I was leaning towards the S due to price point.

Nope. It literally has like a third of the processing power that the Series X has.

  2. No issues on Debian either.

From what I could discover, this has been a known issue on Arch Linux for about six months now. Steam has two tickets still open on the issue. It isn't just 7 Days that is affected either, a number of other titles has been reported.

People have reported that ticking the box for "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" twice in the properties can fix it temporarily.

It is supposedly fixed in the current Beta branch of Steam, but I am not installing Arch to test it out. I've run into too many people that have had issues with Arch because of the customizations they have made in the code for that version.

So I assume they have the series S or X Xbox?

AFAIK the new title will only be available on Xbox Series X or PS5. The older consoles do not have the hardware to support it. Series S is just a "pro" version of the XB1 with more RAM and not much else.

Those DNS settings are invalid and do not validate upon changing them to those values. I reverted to Cloudflare DNS settings (1.1.1.1, etc...) I have tried adding exceptions in my firewall for all the different 7d2d launchers, and tried disabling my firewall entirely, nothing works.

So you did not exclude your client and save folders from security software then, and it could be blocking access as well.

Not sure why you could not use Google DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. That is very unusual unless for some reason they are blocked by your ISP, or by the network administrator.
More information on your network/internet configuration could prove to be helpful.

  5. Basic troubleshooting for EoS.

    1. Ensure your local clock is synced correctly for your local time.

    • Right-Click on the Time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
    • Select Adjust Date/Time.
    • Turn on the Set Time Automatically button.
    • Click the Sync Now button.

    2. Use a public DNS.

    3. Make sure you aren't using any proxy servers.

    4. Clear your cache.

    5. Ensure Windows is updated and on a Stable version. Using insider builds will create issues.

    6. Flush your DNS.

Also curious, what exactly did you do when "adding exceptions for everything"?

Will the new console game version be added to Xbox game pass or will I need to pay for the game again?

It is unknown if it will be included in GamePass for the console.

Since the release is not an upgrade to the TellTale version, and cannot be, it will be a new purchase. TFP stated that they were working with Sony and MS to try and offer discounts for verified owners of the TellTale release, but that is not finalized yet as far as I am aware.

    So,

    first of all:
I've never really played 7DTD. This is the first mod I've used for it.
    Everything has been carefully wiped.

I followed the steps from the blue banner and have now tried the versions from 21.2 to 20.7.
Each time I deleted all game files, cleaned everything and copied it in again.

The error remained the same each time.

So it MUST be something that has nothing to do with the A21.

You have a mod for Alpha 20 in Alpha 21. That will not work. Remove the mod.

If you have done that, and are still having an issue, post the new log.

  8. You are trying to play a21 with a poorly written mod from a20. There is a blue banner with instructions on how to clear game data before playing a21. Pay particular attention to step 6 while you are doing that.

If you have any player data, maps, mods, or previous version saves, it will cause you a problem.

I can confirm the same issue, the game is unplayable in the current state. After a random time, the game lags. You can walk without stuttering, the trees in the wind is stuttering.

This is not a performance issue. Both CPU and GPU usage is low (RTX 4070 Ti Super). To fix the issue, one has to close the game completely and restart the game. Then it runs fine until it happens again.

Need a log to see what is happening in the game when the issue occurs.

It looks like M$ killed it in an update from the Insider Preview channel.

Never use preview channels on a system you are actually using. They are for testing features and stability before release. Preview channel versions can actually prevent the game client from launching.

  11. Currently the requirements are listed as follows.

      Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 7 or higher (64-bit) Windows 7 or higher (64-bit)
CPU 2.8 Ghz Quad Core 3.2 Ghz Quad Core or faster
RAM 8 GB RAM 12 GB RAM
GPU 2 GB Dedicated Memory 4 GB Dedicated Memory
Storage 15 GB available space 15 GB available space

This information is extremely vague, and misleading. It has resulted in a large number of people thinking their archaic hardware would be OK to run the game, and then ending up extremely disappointed in their purchase.

I would suggest that since this game is primarily CPU-bound and relies a lot on quick disk access and RAM, that the hardware requirement be updated to be a LOT more specific. Much like 90% of the other games on Steam list theirs.

I'm going to throw some stuff here as an example. This is based mostly on my own testing and people I have assisted in the past.

      Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 or higher (64-bit) Windows 11
CPU Intel Core i5-6600, or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Intel Core i7-8700, or AMD Ryzen 5 3700x
    RAM 8-12GB* 16GB
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2 GB
    or AMD Radeon R7 360 2 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB
or AMD Radeon RX 570 8 GB
Storage 15 GB available space 15GB available SSD, and OS/save on SSD

*Note that if you do not have the recommended GPU, you will need to have more RAM to compensate.

Can you focus on optimization instead of adding new features?

I have the best hardware you can imagine and this game runs on medium settings at 50-90 fps (70~75 avg while moving) in medium-big POI (Two Bit Tower).

It's unplayable while fighting more than 6 enemies at the same time.

People don't complain only because they play this game on a average computers and don't expect decent fps.

Those who play on better computers don't complain because the game is so good that the lags aren't the reason for uninstalling this game.
But anyone with great computers should cry hard and complain because the absolute minimal expectations aren't satisfied.

I literally can't get more than 85 stable fps with the lowest settings and resolution.
It's time to go back and fix your game engine. Each year people will have better hardware and each year this problem will strike harder. At some point 7dtd will be stigmatized on social media and communities as a unoptimized crap and that will be end of the story for you.

People won't buy this cheap argument that "7dtd was meant to be played at 60fps". This is 2024, not 2008. 144Hz monitors are absolute standard now and so should be fps.

This is written by someone who obviously does not know anything about how a fully 3D Voxel game still being developed is different from a fully optimized and released game like GTA-V.
I would imagine they are also someone who is not very computer-smart, but knows enough to be frustrated when their inappropriate expectations aren't met.

I am certain that if we treated this like a troubleshooting thread and got details on their setup we could fix them up. However, they have not been back in the past few weeks, so I doubt we will see them again anytime soon.

Where are new tiers of items? enemies? ACTUAL friggin content?

This is stuff that gets added when the game is in early Alpha. As you get closer to the end of Alpha and enter Beta development, your aren't adding content, but polishing what you already have.

Which is basically where TFP is right now. Not much content is left that needs to be added to the game. They are getting to the polish and optimization phase. This means that the development stage is nearing and end, and the game is getting very close to the final release.

So basically, you aren't really aware of how development works, and just want them to keep adding things for the sake of adding things. You are also quite fond of older systems that were known to be temporary. Luky for you TFP has been forking out oodles of money to Steam to allow all the previous Alpha versions to remain available. You can go and play the one that suits your fancy.

6: Many newer routers have built in security apps which may be interfering with the game's network.
Log into your router to see if this is happening.

Some ISP's even have an "advanced" firewall that runs on the ISP side external of your modem/router which could block connections. (Comcast/Xfinity for sure has this, and other providers may offer similar services.) It is usually enabled on your service by default if it is offered.
