  1. We haven't been using the dedi to make maps since a18 because you can do it WAY faster on the client.

Whatever you read about Gamesparks on dedi's was wrong. It does the same thing it does on the client.

To deal with the issue, (and so you don't have to wait two hours to make a map because of no GPU usage in the dedi), make the map on the client and copy it to the dedi. This has been the thing to do since they moved map generation from the CPU to the GPU. They are well aware of the issue, and it is being worked on.

I finished my new rig last month. I’m fortunate to have a Microcenter in my town and was able tp pick up an amd 5950x and a rtx 3090 pretty easily. It’s amazing to play 7Days with max settings and 4k resolution. My advice, if you have a Microcenter anywhere near you, go often. Their website always says nothing in stock but if you walk in, they have plenty. The day I stopped in, they had five 5950x’s and three 3090’s.

You just have to be early enough to get a voucher. I stopped in this morning because it was the day they receive product, but did not arrive early enough to get a voucher.

That video was amazing. I can't believe anyone would put that much effort (and probably money) into making a video like that.

Not just making the video, but making the product for the video.  That was simply inspired. Loved the ending.

  4. Your CPU is your weak point there, and running Windows isn't doing you any favors. The processor doesn't exceed 40% used because it can't. It's maxing out a couple of cores, and isn't properly multithreading. If you compare it to even a Xeon CPU from a few years prior, the Xeon will run circles around it. So will something equally old like an i7-3770.  (and they're beating it with lower clock speeds and fewer cores at that!)

Other considerations would be Pagefile size, amount of space on the SSD, other programs using RAM, ect. More information would be needed to assist you further with this, but be aware that your CPU is a pretty huge bottleneck to overcome.

  5. From what I've been hearing, it's better to just buy a pre-built system with a card in it. Though you may still be at a bit of a lottery as to what card you get.  Estimates are that we won't really see much improvement until next summer.

  6. Closest is probably going to be RAT, or Windows Server Manager. Neither are going to have that level of control though. All the settings are pretty easy in xml, and it's not like you're changing them a lot.

@Zagan As it turns out, it's not a bad file at all. It's served over HTTP, not HTTPS, so Chrome is blocking it.

EDIT: Here are the details, straight from Google: https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/77421860?hl=en

    Here's a non-Google link: https://www.ghacks.net/2020/10/08/chrome-is-blocking-downloads-here-is-why/

As it says in the article - and I've confirmed it - the work-around is to right click on the link and select "Save file as..."

@SylenThunder Is it possible for you to change the link so it uses https rather than http? That will probably fix all the issues people are having with downloading this via Chrome.

There is no valid ssl certificate for the site, so that will just produce the same issue.  I edited the OP to move the attached file from the bottom up to the top. If the link doesn't work, just pull the file directly from the forum.

anyone else having trouble with the download link

ok I got it by coping the link and pasting in a new tab

Again if you have an issue with the download link, the file is directly attached to the thread.  This was just mentioned a few posts ago. Please try to read a little bit when you have an issue.

Not sure why some of you are having an issue with the link. I can only think it's some region blocking problem.

I think it was removed from A19.

Correct. The build options were only in the game because the prefab/world editors were not ready yet. Now that those editors exist, the options for them have been removed from the game.

  10. Open the launcher, and tick the box for "Use native input". See if that helps.

Also, you should have the controller plugged in well before you start the game. Changing input/output devices after program has started is not something you ever want to do. Programs do not update hardware changes on the fly.

Hey that's good to hear. Just out of curiosity, which DNS service were you using? One of the malware- or ad-blocking ones? Or was it manually set to a stale DNS from your ISP's or something like that?

Just making a note, I use Cloudflare's filtered DNS as primary, and OpenDNS as secondary for our servers, and haven't had any issues with them.

I once read somewhere that it is possible to use a 2nd graphicscard (non-sli) as accelerator. But the software has to support this, and it doesn't really scale, because it just can offload certain kinds of workload to the second gpu. Iirc in that case i read about only PhysX calculations where handed to the second gpu.

Even if 7d2d (or unity out of the box) would be able to use the second GPU for something in that way, i'd still not expect a reasonable performance increase.

I have done this, but you end up losing some CPU performance to the software that's managing the workloads. I have done this with a pair of 1060's, and the results were negligible. (And to be fair, it's the only way to team a pair of 1060's together since they have no SLI bridge.)

Somthing that's easier to try and will actrully give you more free performance is assigning 7dtd 4 true cores, depending on how cpu bound you are it can give you a boost up to 100%, even if you have a weak gpu it would still smooth out your 0.1% & 1% low frame times. However if your gpu is really really weak it could end up not doing much of anything. But it's simple to try and costs only a couple minutes of time so I'd suggest trying that before sweating too much on an unknown endeavour.

Here is a guide on how to make a shortcut to launch the game using only the cores you want. You can also try overclocking your hardware, this isn't as easy if your new but with a bit of time you can get more out of your current hardware.

This is especially important when you have a CPU that has extremely weak multi-core performance, like the second generation AMD chipsets. Chips like the 2700 have awesome single-core speeds, but when they're tasked with a program that uses/requires multithreading their performance takes a nose dive. Following this tip will help to boost the performance on those chips quite a bit. You'll go from struggling to get 40FPS to 100FPS in a heartbeat if it's paired with a decent GPU.

    Hi Pichii

The link works for me correctly, it will be through the browser or something else, in any case, in previous posts they share a link for you to download.
    Regards

I did also attach the file directly to the OP, so no external links are needed.

  15. I had attached the file to the thread for direct download as well. It shows up at the bottom of the post.

Just be aware that this is no longer supported, and each update brings it farther away from being stable.

Did they say they were going to stop work on 7 DTD? Just because they have a new idea they've started on doesn't mean they stop  work on this one.

So, to say "they're moving on to other things" is a little bit crazy to me.

No. They're going to finish the PC version of 7DTD. Though they have had plans for their next game for a few years now. The team has increased in size considerably since then, and with 7DTD nearing beta-testing and release soon™️, they can afford to split a couple of programmers off to start working on the base code for it in the relatively near future without affecting 7DTD development. (They're also hiring BTW, as previously mentioned.)
